This module is a setting for a vampire story. It includes 48 areas, misty forests & mountains, hirelings, encounters, a village, and of course, the Schloss of the Baroness. There are some creatures set in several areas, including the Baroness and her minions. A DM would be extremely fun with this module. Ejnoy! by Gonzo Schrednoek Gygax, updated to CEP 1.51, Jan. 2005. Instructions: please note the 2da update for the coastline hak on this linksite, download it as well! The downloads include a practical self-installer, which will install all the hakpacks to a new directory - C:/Dungeon crawl - unless you specify the directory by hand. Place the hakpacks in your NWN hak directory and load. Many thanks to NA for the Hak DC Tiles v304, and to the creators of many fine erfs included herein.

it could be used as a prefab, because it badly needs an overhaul.
few things I have noticed before I stopped playing:
- 1 inaccessible belladonna bush in forest road area
- gipsy instead of gypsy in the same area
- map pins are missing in many places
- sometimes empty areas, but sometimes they do look nice
- doors are locked, but their locks can be picked revealing no transition.
- faction problems at sheep inn and barn in the barovich village
- conversation with silo has no ending
- the Schloss of the Baroness - Schloss is not an English word, its from German(meaning castle, keep)

In short, a poor conversion of good prefab.
The author made a prefab called "vampire setting" and later turned into a full module that can be completed without a DM even though a DM is recommended.
I took this simply as an exploration adventure and was not expecting dialogues or quests so my rating is simply based on look and feel as well playability.
Look and feel, very good if not great. The rest however is terrible and far from what one could expect from a veteran AD&D player.
First, you cross an area, fight a few hungry rats and get stuck in front of a locked door. Not a good sign.
Second, after restarting the module, I crossed that area fighting a few lycanthropes. All is OK up to the point where you reach the village. This is where I got suspicious. Out of the blue came a pack of wolves (with total HD higher than my character lvl). Similar encounters were painted on the road and in some caves. These fights are too frequent and/or too close to each other. You need to rest after every fight (obviously). I also found an area with a pack of wolves and a bear (these do not mix). I tested this part with a paladin (not that effective) and with a warrior. The later was doing OK but at level 9 I am not sure how far he could go (low XP and treasure). When I tried it with my level 18 druid, I quickly got tired of trying to dispatch hordes of wolf pack leaders (the fights were not really dangerous but were lasting forever). I guess this shows the limit of the encounter AI trying to scale up to the level of the PC. I discovered that these groups of 6-8 wolves I had to fight had 250 HP each. O crap!
3-4: It is clear the author tried to make something interesting, but still fell short. With more work it might be worth the download.
Looks like an interesting module wish i could play it found all the haks except coastline v55 which I can only find in .rar format which is utterly useless to me anyone know where i can get it in .zip?

Thanks a bundle for that, ShrikeKnight, I really appreciate the vote and comment, it inspires me to continue with my current works. Keep playing and smiling :o)

Excellent atmosphere. You need a DM to have more NPC interaction so go into this with your eyes open. _________________________ Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.

Thank you very much for finding that hak. Was able to complete the module. You were right in saying that a DM is really kind of necessary. If nothing else he could liven up the townsfolk a bit. I loved the atmosphere. You did an excellent job with the eerie fog etc... I would love to see more NPC interaction. Otherwise well done. _________________________ Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.

Unfortunately, ruralcoast.hak is not in coastline v55.hak or DC_Tiles 304. I think it may have been in DC_Tiles originally but Na removed because it conflicted with something else(according to the posts on the DC Tiles site). Gonzo please upload ruralcoast.hak if you can. I really want to try this module. Thanks for your time. _________________________ Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.

Hi Steve and Shrike Knight,
Sorry it took me so long to reply, I was extremely busy.
First of all, the coastline hak needed is called coastline v-55.hak, there is a link included in the other hak for it, good luck finding that, if you dont have it already.
Then, Steve, congratulations, if you found a way into the Schloss Vielenstein, reaching the Baroness is the end of the set-up. A DM is good with this module because I wasnt capable of doing any scripting myself, so a dm could controll the baroness and her minions, and hassle the players before they get to her "Schloss"
Hope all is clear, we should set this up online and play it together, I could try dming it :o)

Thanks again by the way for going the extra mile. _________________________ Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.

I've just contacted the author. I believe the problem is the new Neverwinter Vault layout doesn't display e-mail addresses. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

I guess I need a hint of where to start first. I defeated the Baroness... now what do I do or where do I go? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Hi Steve,
Please don't feel you need to answer this at work. I can wait.
As I said I went to the dc_tiles ver 3.04.(the icon directly beneath the mod file) The haks it gave me were dc_genericdoors.hak, dc_tall_v304.hak, dc_tex_helper.hak, dc_Tex.hak, dc_tall_confg304.hak. There was no ruralcoast.hak to be found. It also wasn't in the coastline v55 download that I found courtesy of your suggestion to check the log file.
I could really use your help finding this one hak. Thanks much in advance. --- ShrikeKnight _________________________ Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.

Shrike,
Look in the right hand column under "votes" and you should see a file icon under the .mod icon that should have all the files you need. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the quick response. Sorry I bothered you at work.
Well I found the coastline hak, but there is a hak called ruralcoast.hak still missing. I would like to try this mod but the whole treasure hunt for haks ias annoying. I took a second gander at the two hak downloads, coastline v55 and dc_tall v 304 and neither have that hak. Did you have to do a separate search for ruralcoast.hak or am I missing something cosmically obvious?
Thx in advance. _________________________ Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.

Shrike, I'm at work and don't have the game with me.
Look at your logs for the missing hak file and then do a search for the missing hak file. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Hi Steve,
Which coastline hak should I be looking for? _________________________ Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.

Textures, layouts, use of tilesets. This guy deserves a job at Bioware. I couldn't urge not to play this. Use of monsters, random encounters is excellent. I just wanted to keep going.
Same with background environments from misty nights to tall trees during the game time.
More interaction with people would be nice, but overall, I am waiting for this guy to make a module with the main opponent a dragon. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Okay, I defeated the baroness outside her castle, and made it to the first floor, but the pillar in the dimensional room does nothing.
How do we officially win this campaign? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

This module doesn't play. The area transitions are not present.

How much of a problem will it be to play SP? I like the sound of what I read but seeing occasional DM needed is a bit off putting. _________________________ Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.
