Description
Strange times have come to Camshire. The shadows have grown eyes that study, fingers that caress, teeth that hurt. A venomous infection has begun to rack the citys aching walls, bringing a haunted fever of paranoia to the skittish masses within. The sky grows darker with each passing hour, threatening to make permanent secrets of the lies and ills cast upon the haunted souls who call this place home. Perhaps a light will flicker and grow in the belly of the gloom, shedding light on the miseries and effect their withering. Perhaps hope lies in a heart tainted with truth.
Perhaps... Perhaps...
Hour of the Tongue is the second installment of the Threat of Dreams series of modules created for use with BioWares computer game Neverwinter Nights. It requires the Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark expansion sets, which are available for purchase independently or in the Neverwinter Nights Platinum edition. Visit nwn.bioware.com for more information on these products. The module also requires that your Neverwinter Nights be updated to the 1.65 patch.
The module was built using BioWares Aurora toolset, and also includes custom content created by the games community of builders. A full list of this custom content appears in the Credits section below.
Part one of the Threat of Dreams series, The Hunger and the Sickness, can be downloaded from the Neverwinter Vault at:
A walkthrough for the module is included in the ZIP file.
Please take the time to cast your vote and comment on the module after youve completed it. I will continue to support Hour of the Tongue as long as I can, and your comments can help make it as good a module as possible.
Readme file (not required, but recommended). Hasn't changed significantly since the v1.0 module release, but there are now TXT and DOC versions included.
Walkthrough file (not required, and recommended only if you get stuck or have already played the game and want to see what you might have missed). Hasn't changed significantly since the v1.0 module release. Only available in DOC format.
Pros: - A lot of good scripting in dungeons - Atmopheric area design - Commoners have real dialog and their opinions reflect their social class. - Interesting settings - A quite explorable city Cons: - At times, the writing is too pretentious. The arthor tried too hard to be gloomy. Example: "Surrounded by [a scene evident of incredible] violence, the body of *** lies in a [surreally immense] pool of blood." The bracketed adjectives are surreally immensely incredibly hollow. Not all writings are that bad but it happens often enough to sour the experience. - The story and plot can use some bridges and hooks. There seems to be little motivation to solve the mysteries RP wise. Often after a quest is completed and when there is supposed to be a plot progression, the player receives hints of their next step only in form of a note or book. It would be better if there were more plot devices (NPC contact you, incident event, etc) that bridge plot transition.

PROs: * Great atmosphere, evoked by story, sound and visuals * Sombre and mysterious world, highly recommended to fans of the Planescape setting * Interesting background-story with passion for details, e.g. a lot of custom-created books * Professionally written * Unusal choice of henchmen (fun!) * Lots of custom content, very practical transport system in the city streets, witty options to enhance character stats * Entertaining and rewarding puzzles * All in all, a lot of creativity and imagination in this, even some food for thoughts CONs: * Effortless combats for the most time, especially for a rogue who did all the quests and got hold of the available magic items (might also be considered a PRO, depending on your point of view; it's definitely not hack and slash) * Along the same vein, unlocking doors, sneaking past guards and disabling traps was so easy that I wondered why I had to bother at all; but since I find that style of gaming rather tedious anyway it was only a minor nuisance. * The handling of quests was not always clear and satisfying, some just stuck around in the journal although I already completed them, some things I thought important weren't even written down. To be fair, I have to add that quest entries are detailed and well-written in general. * Includes some less interesting areas only meant for passing through or collecting average treasure, despite the transport system still a lot of running around. Some of the listed CONs get in the way of the story, take away some of the excitement, slow the pace. I find it a bit difficult to take that into account; I would like to give it both mods (Part I II) a top vote for the excellent story, puzzles and atmosphere, but although I liked it a lot there was something in the gameplay and the execution of the story I can't quite point my finger on (at least not more than I already did) that was still a few steps away from perfection, unlike those highly polished mods that deserve a score above 9.5. Anyway, don't get me wrong, it's a great, ingenious mod and I recommend everyone to play it! Thanks, GhostFactory! I hope I'll get to play Part 3 some day.

Really loved this, played this one and the first part in a row and was totally immersed deeper and deeper. Suberb, twitching plot, wonderfull side quests, great visuals, a dark and enchanting world, great dark humour to be encountered too...Oh, and great books that are slowly entwined with the plot! I had to multiclass simply because of the new items.. Ran into the infamous rune plate bug,for wich the author has provided a debug code on this thread,I was however able to shake it by exiting and re-entering the area and pressing the correct plates again a couple of times. That bug and the messy journal not updating were the only flaws I encountered! slight spoiler: The ending is a horrible cliffhanger- or is it? Is it The End? Aaargh!Really, such a pity there never was a part three!!

This is a really awesome module with incredible atmoshpere, interesting and original characters, awesome plot-twists etc., etc. The list just goes on. :) There were a couple of bugs (no game-stopping ones) and because of this, I reduced the score a bit. Other than that, I'd have to feel very tempted to call this a "Master Piece". :) I will not go into any more detail since the author seems to have left these mods and moved on to other things. Either case, I thank you GhostFactory for making these mods! I enjoyed them very much. :) _________________________ /Berra - NWN1 modules: Berra's Module Collection (All of Berra's NWN1 works) Interviews: NWN-PODCAST INTERVIEW GOLDEN DRAGON AWARD INTERVIEW. I so loved that story! Highly chaoticly brained... if one can say such a thing. In english I mean... If you want to try " for real " once in your life that very special " minded " place of some of your most unexplainable daytime nightmares, somewhere you're not even sure where and who you are... that's the story to play. Great for RPing as well. Almost real. Funny henchies! That story tells something by its end I've been hearing all my life... from between my ears. That won't change I suppose, only it might get a little lighter from now on. :-) And I'm very grateful one thought of writing a human tale out of it. Again, my thanks. Along with my 10. _________________________ @ + jml, level 52 "Overgod? Is that like Supergod or something?", from "Citadel" "M?not shr this ishych u g?dea.", from "Prophet" series

Wow! This was just amazing! Why oh why is this wonderful module being neglected so?! Why are the thousands not downloading and playing? The sarcophagus sceptre-thing didn't work for me, but it wasn't too important anyway. The runes worked just fine. Looks like a safe bet there wont be a third part, which is a crying shame. Was GhostFactory involved in some premium module that got cancelled? That'd explain giving up NWN. Or was it the incoming NWN2 that killed the interest? A real shame anyway, this second part is amongst the top 10 best modules in the vault.

Enjoyed these two modules a lot. You really feel part of the, very good , story. Great use of cut scenes not overly long and not too many. Certainly looking forward to Part 3!

Since the most recent posts have highlighted the "issues", I'd like to simply say this is one of the most intriguing mods I've played and am looking forward to part 3. I found judging Judas to be a textbook example reminding us that small children are not adults and should not be treated as one. The concept of using 'healing' as a means to open doors is very positive. Kudos, keep us posted. TTWU (two thumbs way up)

A very involving continuation of the story began in the first module. Felt much more expansive, and carries the same great sense of atmosphere and immersion. The only flaw seems to be incomplete (or just buggy?) use of the journal/quest completion system. Minor issue in an otherwise fabulous module. I can't wait for the final stave!

Not as tight and focused as Part 1, but I enjoyed the new direction nonetheless. Quite creative. Had a few problems with journals not updating again and some broken quests, but luckily I was able to find workarounds on this board. Hope there will still be a Part 3. :)
