Trainer with a story, lol.
It's smaller than DrHoo boutique, but it has an adventure game.
I ended with 43 score.(Maybe I should have used that ring?)
Oh and remember to update with cep1 patch 1.69 hak, if you want the stores not to crash the game.

I think I have my own answer--need to update the CEP because the older version doesn't go with NWN 1.68.

Posted by DrHoo at 2006-10-30 13:37:49
I'd like to play but so far most of the merchants (Caren, Merek, Mereppi) I've tried crash the game when their store starts to open. Vrigdush and Lomilmawallen don't. It doesn't seem related to which one I talk to first. I have 1.68, this looks like 1.67 so I saved a game (but not the module) and reloaded NWN--no help. ? Steve sent me here as I have a store with a "quest" too (Boutique du Temps). Thanks!

A new twist on trainers - being able to test your character afterwards :)

Awesome that when I complete the module I can get immunities that are on my character, not her equipment.

I also like that I can clone equipment with this update.

The new version fixes the issues I had before.

New update includes a name change for the module to better describe it.

Modified Resolvir to enhance armor as well as weapons.

Added a way for characters to duplicate any (non-plot) items they possess.

Adventure now has better story flow from the first half to second half, including some important new clues.

Well Steve, I don't want to give away spoilers, especially on the same page as the module download. So instead, I will give you some general tips that everyone will benefit from, but that doesn't ruin the enjoyment of the game.

Tip 1: Your character (and you) should read everything. That includes books on shelves and tables, signs, and your journal. Be sure to use the tab key to see what objects can be interacted with.

Tip 2: Searching is best done with high search ability. There are items available that will improve a character's searching skill (including a very good item in the adventure's vault). Increasing intelligence also improves searching. There are items and potions to improve intelligence. Note that technically searching is not required (you dont need to turn on search mode). Merely having a good search skill and moving into proximity with something hidden will do. If you dont find it, you will need to move away and come back again. Standing there longer wont find anything new. Some things (after locating the Vault) require you to be in very close proximity. (Mini Tip 2a: hold down the mouse key while moving the mouse to direct your character quickly through a series of locations, and to get to locations that are difficult to click on).

Tip 3: The adventure portion of this module is designed so that ANY character can complete it. That means you do not need to have a high level character or start with any money. (However, high level characters that have improved their search skill will have an easier time finding things, and characters that can afford to buy more magic items can similarly benefit). To get the maximum score, you must finish the adventure at first level (less than 1000 XP).

Tip 4: Some things can only be found if done in the right order, or if you are in possession of a key object. Thus, if your adventures score has gone up, you may be able to find something you couldnt find before.

Tip 5: It isnt all about searching. Part of the adventure is problem solving. Part of it is interaction with characters and objects in the module. Some hidden objects are mundane objects in plain view (use the tab key to discover that you can interact with them).

Tip 6: It may be a small module, but dont assume that means it will be quick. I expect that most people that are serious about solving the adventure will spend a few days, maybe more, not a few hours.

Tigwa,

I've explored the entire area, but still only have 23 points.
How do I get to the huge runestones behind the locked unbashable metal gate?

I have done a major rewrite of the adventure portion of the game. It now includes points like a King's Quest or Lesure Suit Larry. It also has journal entries and a storyline.

The "uber" items have been toned down, and in some cases, made to be much less accessable.

I added Rezolvir (the master weaponsmith from HoU) so that any weapon can be upgraded for enough gold. I removed a shortcoming in the logic that counted use limitations (like usable only by dwarves) as a property. Now those weapons can be upgraded to 8 usable properties like their counterparts without use limitations.

This is the best short, sweet, and simplified PvE on the vault! There are monsters with all kinds of offenses and defenses making a character not have to go as far as Daniel Nation's Endless Nights 4 in order to test characters.

Powered items were a little too uber; I hope the author will tone them down a little.

Tigwa, since I do not have the toolset, all I can advise you on is what Erika Loran told Jennifer Goodey:

First off, you should not take your vote so personally. The reason is is that there are too many of these store modules in the vault

What you need to do is work on this more by:

1. taking out the basic stuff, people can get that anywhere, in any mod. all they need is free gold.

2. add some more creatively designed equipment and weapons and rings etc. Make them in different levels (for example, do a sword plus 2 with some special property like fire, then do a higher level version plus 4 with more fire).

3. make items unique so that people feel a need to visit your store.

4. Make things look pretty! People get sick of the same old colors and patterns, there are lots of good haks out there to help you.

5. consider putting a special section in that deals in unique CEP items. there are a lot of items in the hak that no one has put in a store yet.

And most importantly, have fun!

To everyone,

I will change my vote when I try this again or when the author updates. Please don't judge my vote as a choice for you not to download.

If you are going to play the Hack & Slash part of this module, you cannot expect to win if you only swing your weapon. There are some monsters that cannot be beaten that way, just as there are some monsters that cannot be beaten by spells (or their equivalent) alone. Be sure to look at the monsters to see what they are immune to (or more importantly, what they are not immune to).

Posted by tigwa at 2005-09-17 22:58:03    Voted 10.00 on 09/17/05
If you do a little exploring, you will find that the rune stones are extremely valuable. Do be prepared. The hack & slash is for VERY high level characters (use the trainer to get to those levels) with VERY good equipment (buy some in the module if you don't have any). You may need to do part of the "adventure" game to get enough money (there is unlimited money for those willing to search and follow the clues).
