Description
Her Father's Sword
By Nicholas Piachaud
"1422. Bitter civil war has devastated the League. Ithacia is on its knees. Its armies are crushed, its knights and Order disbanded and dispirited, left to fight in a desperate, partisan war against the invaders.
You have fled the worst of the fighting and tried made your peace with your father's legacy. But when the Ithacian stronghold of Tokkayis is destroyed at the hands of a terrible new weapon, you find yourself drawn into a secret war.
This time: a war of deadly retribution waged in the shadows of the wider conflict, one fought for the nothing less than the very secrets and soul of the Order itself."
A densely-plotted adventure story which spans a range of gameplay.
This adventure is the sequel and conclusion to His Father's Sword. That module can be found here:
Hi Nick, == Spoiler Below == 1. I think there is not much information talking about these shrine. I think you could add some description. Maybe through the mouth of Chloe when the PC found her under the inn. 2. How about shed different light onto the arrows. Then there is a column of light of similar color shed in the first edge, when you walk to the first direction, a column of light will appear on the second edge which is of similar color to the second arrow, etc, etc. What do you think? 3. I recall that there is no dialouge mention the sword Chloe used is of his father. You could try to add some dialogue for Chloe to explain this. 4. hrm...you could try to weaken Tali a bit, or put some other spells inside the sword shard. e.g. Protection from spell could not protect the PC from magic missiles!!! I'm also hit hard by those Elite Wrath casting quite a lot of magic missles... Maybe using "Shield" will be better, it not only protect PC from magic missles, it could also add defense to PC. Also, shadow shield could grant damage reduction to PC(a bit easier for PC to survive) and it is somewhat appropiate for the theme of the mod. If PC could use "Time Stop" during the trial, why not grant it for once per day inside the shard? 5. I think the decision has to be made suddenly because there are only few dialouge exist. Maybe you could add some more dialouge for them to try to reason each other and fail. Then it will be more reasonable. == Spoiler End == _________________________ Overlooked Module Report February 2009 | Master List | Forum Thread Academy of Modding Excellence Romance Module List Horror Module Collection Starlight's favorite module list

Hmdai, Thanks for voting and providing feedback. I say this to everyone who does it, but I find it really useful and I?m glad you take the time to do it, particularly when (like Hmdai) you?ve played through both modules. The following answers contain SPOILERS. ===========SPOILERS START========== 1: ?The secret tunnel below the inn at the beginning is a bit wierd. How does that tunnel exist?? Officially, the inn was built over (or into) an abandoned Order shrine. The idea is that a lot of these shrines exist throughout the world, though they?re mostly forgotten about. In the Tokkayis inn, the builders left a secret passage to it, presumably because they didn?t want to wall it up entirely. In terms of game design, I simply preferred a secret door to a portal. It makes more sense to me that way. Maybe you think otherwise. Sure, it?s implausible, but then so is the rest of the game. 2: ?The hints in the waste is not obvious enough?. It?s a hard one to gauge. Personally I think the only way to make it easier would be for someone to tell you ?follow the arrows in exactly this way?, which effectively stops it being a puzzle. That said; I understand that it could be very frustrating, and a pet hate of mine is hair-pulling puzzles in a game. I?ll look at it again when I have time. I?ll say this is a puzzle I?d particularly like to know other people?s opinions on. 3: ?The power of "his" father sword is awaken after entering the final area. Is it possible that the sword is re-forged (maybe by the keeper) and the PC could use?? First off, neither of the games? titles actually refer to the PC?s father?s sword. In His Father?s Sword, the ?sword? is actually Taleltaesan?s father?s sword. In Her Father?s Sword, you?ll see that Chloe is using Isable?s Greatsword (though through oversight I never made this very explicit). Confused? Me too. When I started thinking about the sequel I decided the sword was definitely going to be reforged, Narsil-style. In the end I decided against this, primarily because I wasn?t sure if all classes would be able to use it. I also decided I wanted it to be more of a ?tool? in your fight than an all-powerful weapon. Finally, I don?t know if anyone?s noticed this yet, but you can also use the sword shards in the Armour showdown :P 4: ?Even if no longer invincible, Taleltaeson is still too strong for me? Yeah, he?s a tough guy. I?m not really that happy with the final showdown with Talel at the minute. Even if Chloe falls down Talel keeps attacking her, leaving the PC to basically stab him in the back. I?ll look at it again when I have time (I use this excuse a lot, but I do have a lot on atm). 5. ?Is there any way to be reason with them? Is there any ways to prevent any bloodshed?? No, there isn?t. Basically, I think revenge is a very screwy thing which gives you very little choice in your actions. In fact, that?s honestly part of why there?s so little choice throughout both modules. It sounds pretty pretentious, especially for a two hour Nevewinter module, but that?s what I wanted to put across. The final ?choice? between the two women really says: ?They?ve left each-other no other way out, and they?ve managed to bring you along for the ride. You never escaped your father?s legacy and now one of them has to die.? ====SPOILERS END==== Finally, I?ll place a link inside the description of both mods when I next get a chance.

Hi Nick, I have found that "His Father's Sword" and "Her Father's Sword" are not linked together as you are using two user names for each mod. I think you could include the link inside the description of both mods such that the players could enjoy both mods. _________________________ Overlooked Module Report February 2009 | Master List | Forum Thread Academy of Modding Excellence Romance Module List Horror Module Collection Starlight's favorite module list

I have just finished this mod. I think is a fairly good module. I especially like the desparate feeling inside the module. The PC is not a hero to reverse the war. They are just someone which struggle for life. However, there are still have some points for improvement. === Spoiler Below === 1. The secret tunnel below the inn at the beginning is a bit wierd. How does that tunnel exist? It seems there is not much to explain its existent. Will it be more reasonable by using a magic portal? 2. The hints in the waste is not obvious enough. After checking the signs in the center, I misunderstand that I have to walk through the "arrows". Finally, I can't resist the temptation to view the area in the toolset and find out the trigger points are on the 3 edges of the waste -_-; I think a bit more hinst will be better. 3. The power of "his" father sword is awaken after entering the final area. Is it possible that the sword is re-forged (maybe by the keeper) and the PC could use? 4. Even if no longer invincible , Taleltaeson is still too strong for me (The money has been gone to potions and my ranger has only got Leather Armor+1 !!!) I have to keep him fighting Chloe (As she is immortal) and I stab him from the back >_ 5. In the ending, the PC are caught between a sudden decision to choose either sides. Is there any way to be reason with them? Is there any ways to prevent any bloodshed? === Spoiler End === _________________________ Overlooked Module Report February 2009 | Master List | Forum Thread Academy of Modding Excellence Romance Module List Horror Module Collection Starlight's favorite module list

Blatob: Thanks for taking the time to vote and provide some feedback. I?m glad you enjoyed the module. The following should be considered ?spoilers? by people who?d like to play the mod, as it mentions locations/finalfight details, etc. ?Potions are not readily available?: I don?t know if you found all of them, but there are three merchants who sell potions in HFS. They can be found in these locations: The Rogue Trader outside the Tokkayis inn The Apothecary in the Livingston The Resistance Member in Jerico Hall?s House. ?During the showdown at the forest temple, I could not get Chloe as a henchman. I don't know if this is a bug.?: It isn?t a ?bug? per se, since right now there?s no option to make her one. I can see why you?d want to make her a henchman again and why the story could lead you to believe you should be able to. It just isn?t possible at the moment. If enough people request it I?ll make it a feature. ?Do you plan to continue with this storyline??: At present I don?t have any plans to continue on with this storyline. Her Father?s Sword is designed to be the conclusion to the PC storyline I started with ?His Father?s Sword?. Basically it does what I wanted it to do and I?m not sure if there?s any more to tell.

Good module, but potion are not readily available. That could make final fight too difficult. Also, during the showdoun at the forest temple, I could not get Chloe as a hanchman. I don't know if this is a bug. Do you plan to continue with this storyline?

Ah!!! I wondered what that pillar was for... I got the bettle belly part, but though you'd just used unusable barricades by mistake. :) Thanks!

Heh. Thanks for posting - if you're a rogue/invisible than it makes perfect sense for you to use those abilities. If you weren't then, um, it's probably a bug I should fix :D . The actual 'solution' (puzzle spoiler warning) is to take the bug belly and throw it down the cave pit. This will spook the cattle and make them want to stampede. Then use the key from the Minos Knight to unlock the grate back in the Minos Base and use the pillar switch to unlock the pens (you can't do it manually). This will cause a stampede when you try and cross the plateau. Thanks for posting :), hope you enjoy the rest of the module.

I got to the part where I'm trying to distract the Minos soldiers after the shipwreck. I have the key to the pen doors, but... there are no doors to unlock, just unusable barricades. I got around it by simply sneaking past the soldiers on the perimeter, but I thought you might want to know. :)
