Another run into one of my all time favourite NWN modules, and surprislingly, with the same fun I had on my first one. I love that story, the story being what I care the most in NWN, or any other game.
And again Amazon Warrior made me dream, without one single bug.
Again I was an amazon for a few hours, which would have never happened without you I suppose. ;-)
And for that, my dear Xialya, I thank thee very much.
I played many NWN modules, but only a few show so much of a personal world.
A dream.
Too bad I can vote 10 twice... Hummm, let me try anyway... ;-)
Encore bravo!

On the second thought, I noticed you haven't had that many downloads, and maybe I was a little harsh. I'll try to help you get the 2500 downloads, but no way in the current state the module deserve anything higher than 9.0 and it's 8.0 to put up a fight to the stupid NWN1 vote inflation. Your module is pretty fine by standards of 2003-2004, but it's currently 2011; I can't see myself voting 10.0 without being paid to like with Vis et Virtus modules; and whatever fun was there to be had in AW it only deserves 9.0. I am voting 8.0 because jml seriously 10.0? _________________________ Do dance with the rogues.

Now that I read some comments to the module, I am inclined to agree that much of my irks could be fixed with a second module in the series. It's unlikely to happen, so I think 9.0 is way higher than I would vote. I really hope it will not disencourage Xialya from making another module; no hard feelings, I had fun, but not even enough to make it to 9.0. I guess I am spoiled. _________________________ Do dance with the rogues.

I also need to add, that 4 hours is really perhaps the minimum you'll spend playing Amazon Warrior. It's around 6 to 7 hours if you don't do the sidequests. I personally love 30+ hours modules, and I have to admit most of the time spent on this module I was running here and there with no obvious goal and fighting the encounters made long by the bad attempt on reworking the RPG system of dnd 3.0. _________________________ Do dance with the rogues.

I don't see how you are serious calling this module a pure jewel, jml, really. If it's the time constraints or human laziness, I don't see anything redeeming the module to put anything higher than 9.0. It's broken in many places, and at times gamestoppers are not resolved, I struggle to suggest this as a module to anyone I value, and it's generally a good effort, wotj really lackluster execution.
I had fun playing it, however, and I try to vote 9.0 and above the modules that I had fun playing (much unlike Vis et Virtus - an example of how good tools make bad modules), seeing how distorted really the voting system it. But, seriously, giving a full 10.0 to Amazon Warrior might distract the author from working on her mistakes and unjustifiably inflate the ratings. I have now spent around 600 hours during these 6 weeks playing NWN modules, and this one is not that good, I'd expect you of all the people, jml, to give it a lot less 10.0, no matter how good the support for the module appears. It's in 9.50ish category if the lowest vote is 9.0 and I am afraid I need to give it a very justified 9.0. I love strong female protagonists and I'd play it again, if it was possible to rework the module into something to my taste, but, as I said I had fun playing it in this current form and honestly it doesn't deserve even average 9.5ish votes.
I'd like to thank Xialya and co-authors for the effort and I will look forward for the next part of this installment or whatever new stories they come up with. _________________________ Do dance with the rogues.

I am only getting to start the module, but I noticed a distinct lack of credits for obvious use of probably copyrighted music (not sure what is it, reminded me of Bulgarian choir from one of newer editions of Alone in the Dark). In the manual it says Music - Respective authors, which isn't really fine, I am afraid. Hopefully I haven't looked enough, but if not, you will do everyone a favor if you list the tracks and possibly get approval of the copyright holders (or, hopefully, authors and performers). The music indeed sets the mood very well, and I am already looking forward to playing the module. I'll post a comment and vote when I finish the story. _________________________ Do dance with the rogues.

I can't believe this pure jewel has been updated!
That's wonderful news, Xialya.
I'm going in!
(And making sure I voted at the same time... ;-) )

Yes, it means both names have the same number of letters.
What cleanses the flesh is Fire --> F.
Anyway, the name you must speak is Ferenor. _________________________ Dark Horizon
Yes i know. However i can understand the instructions. For example the last one, or even what mean "our names are the same in their scales and cut" means that the two names has the same letters? and the phrase his first cleanses the flesh what is it? I can't understand, i am not an native englishman so these instruction is not very helpful for me. Can you give me the name?

You can purchase the Edge in the Upgrade Menu (Techniques & Advantages). Hit F12 or rest button to display the menu.

It has to do with the high priest's name, indeed. Try to form the new name by following the instructions in the book, letter by letter. _________________________ Dark Horizon
Ok, i understand. However, i don't have any equipment (only a sword, a bow and a shield i find on the worm lair in previous area) and i don't have any problems in others areas. (btw where i can purchase the Edge? i don't think that i have find it. Is there a merchant somewhere?)
I am in the wild fields in the old temple. But i can't find the name i need to spoke to open the passage. I know that it is an Anagram of the Ehramon (which is the name i find in the note). However i don't undestand the phrases in the book in the main area (writings). English is not my native

You are experiencing the effects of the Swamp Viper Venom. I have given a bit of punch to the critters' attacks (spiders, scorpions, snakes), so you might in fact get poisoned by those more often than before.
To better resist such attacks, you may increase your Stamina, or purchase the Edge that increases your Poison Resistance. _________________________ Dark Horizon
Is the swarm areas changed? I have found them more difficult than in previous version. The dazzinent/confusion effect is deadly, your character don't attack, and walk veryyyyy slowly, she don't even had the choice to outrun the swarm's snakes. I died almost ten times before i was able to clear it, and only because i am lucky. Is this intentional or did i do something wrong? (in the previous version i don't remember to be this confution effect, and i only be killed one or two times in the battles)

And if i may ask? Is there a chance for a continuation module (to continue with the war between the two nations)
Wow! Many thanks for this great review, I'm so glad my module pleased you that much. ^_^
There's a word on the NWNCQ in the User Manual saying it is advised to use it. But I should maybe make it clearer, in the module description for example. ^^
About the bug you have reported. When you arrive in the area (with the small roman camp), the character automatically walks to a point where the Shadow Amazons appear to her, then the rest of the vents unfold.
Though if you interrupt the walking action it might cause the bug you have described, unless you step into the right trigger.
This should no longer be a problem with the next update, as I am going to make it a cutscene.
Anyway, thank you for reporting this. :)
Working on the update has been impossible for me lately, because my computer overheats and crashes. So it is on stand-by until I find a solution. :/ _________________________ Dark Horizon

An amazing amazon module! Perfect, even if its supposed to be impossible, and impossible not being human.
Beautiful, strong on the story, fast in the rythm (not in the beginning, where the author was obviously experimenting the toolset for her? first time... ;-) which goes also for the very first cinematics she had the nerve to commit... ;-) but it gets better fast enough.). If you don't mind being a, most of the time lonely, but gorgeous amazon (3 "sort of classes"), with only some occasionnal henchy along the way...
The custom gear is fantastic, very smart events unfolding at every step, often in the most hunky-dory designed areas...
'meaning you should play "Amazon Warrior" with NWNCQ (check my list in my signature below) installed in your override folder, since that's how Xialya made it... but it's not included neither advised in her maybe lazy but so talented package.
My only regret being the music unfortunately so well chosen it could make you forget about all the above...
***Warming!!!***
It's an adult module, but in the words only!
(Therefore, I firmly recommend to any NWN youngster, eventually interested, to play it of course, and simply avoid reading a single word of it... )
Now, about the very unusual system that module is using, the DHCRS? (read the user manual!): That could be very disorienting at first. Even at third... as I was... But at forth, once you finally decide to play, and just read a bit along the path, you gonna see NWN in a different way, at least I did, which, I believe now, gives to « Amazon Warrior » a sort of unique flavor, and a very strong attachment to your character... seeing the effort it took you to give her life.
Of course I'm exagerating, but lesser here than my usual, in my so humble opinion...
Thanks Xialya! Your « Amazon warrior » is most definitely worth the update.

Okay, it's not about a transition, but an event that you need to unfold by walking towards the river... _________________________ @ + jml, level 52

Possible bug?
**
**
Spoilers!
After killing Azgorak, there is a the transition behind the temple (NW). There is a roman camp there, but I coulsn't find a way to move to the next map, neither go back to the previous one...
That transition (NW) corner seems to be obsolete?
Otherwise? Great module. _________________________ @ + jml, level 52

Thanks for reporting that bug.
That's weird because it was working last time I checked. I'm going to fix that asap. _________________________ Dark Horizon
Well i can't find one ending. I let myself be incapacitated during the final battle, a message appear that i was carring in ally lines, but i remain in the final battle area, the battle continue around me , and when amazons win, they disappear and i remain alone in the final battle's area and i am unable to leave. (I win the battle with the romans)
And i play mainly with warrior, and i try to explore every area of the map
To achieve a draw, both armies must be at equal Battle Advantage at sunset.
To achieve the three endings, you need to:
- Surrender to the Romans.
- Win the final battle.
- Get incapacitated during the final battle. _________________________ Dark Horizon
Thanks for letting me know this.
I'm impressed that you have even managed to get the Sword of Twilight. ^^
I had to balance the combat difficulty for players who don't find the artifacts and those who do. So it might give you a good edge when you get some of them (like the Armor of Solenya).
The Hydra and Azgorak are the toughest bosses, they require a well-built character and combat tactics to defeat them.
By the way, what was your character's archetype? Warrior? _________________________ Dark Horizon
No, i don't think that the battle with romans is difficult, i think that it is pretty easy. Most attack don't affect me (resist) and the ones that hit me, i have the sword twilight and heal myself. The only sub-battle which i lost is the second time i am in "enemy overwhelming your troops", and even then i lost because i lost the troops, even then i am able to hold pretty easy against the romans.
The only battles which i have problems (BIG ONES) is the hydra and the demon, the other bosses is a lot easier
However i am unable to finish the battle in draw, every time i play one army win in the end.
