An "adventure in shopping". . .
The ultimate Monty Haul, conveniently located in a store, for quick turnaround and outfitting.
The Boutique rests in a unique bubble of creation at the bottom of the Pit of Lost Hours, the ones you spent gaming. All levels, classes, races, and alignments are welcome to come and spend their money; single players only. Requires SOU and HOTU. Versions 167, 168, and 169 are tailored to those versions of NWN. Version 169 comes in two flavors, with and without a hakpak. The hak is eyecandy that restores the ruins and also affects the crypt and castle interior for certain tiles and textures only; you can put it in override to affect other modules if you like the effect, but it may be spotty.
Game play length is open: it takes about 2 hours to take a level 1 character to level 3 and a net worth of about 2.5 million gp, (bypassing the level-up mushroom), or you can go directly to the item specialty of your choice.
The Boutique is more gamelike and less arenalike than most "store" modules. No one is handing out money on demand; instead, they have their own hands out at every turn. You are expected to bring plenty of cash, tip well, and pay the highest markup for the best stuff, as in life. There are plenty of opportunities to spend a fortune: Amost everything Bioware (through HOTU and patch 1.69), custom loot, souvenir loot from other modules, and the opportunity to add enhancements to armor, weapons, and accessories. There are several money-making schemes, a Magic Mushroom that will make you grow or shrink, and a salon to help with your personal needs. Look in the Vintage Collection for a survey of modules to visit, directions to customize your own Boutique, and constantly spawning trolls to shoot. See how modmakers deal with trolls they catch.
There are no arenas and no puzzles. There are traps and locks to amuse rogues in one area. There can be two fights which are either instantly fatal or easily winnable. Play a game of "bargain roulette" and find out what sets off the Clothes Haunts. Play "Bean Counter" and see how much money you can make. Play NWN builder and make two portals go to the modules of your choice--Very easy. Play detective and find out more about new worlds, related to the Boutique.
Further instructions are scattered everywhere. "Read" the descriptions and talk to the store staff. And have fun, but don't shoot the help.
This is the BdT updated to NWN ver. 1.69. It has new items supported by that patch and some additional content; one new enhancement, about 50 new items, better organization, new looks to customize. NO HAK REQUIRED and also no major change in look.
This is the original Boutique for NWN 1.67. If you update to 1.68 the chairs will be backwards and the cloaks flesh colored. It has not been updated with all the features in the 1.68 version and I'm not supporting it.
This is exactly the same as Boutique du Temps 169, requires NWN 1.69 AND a HAK. There is NO extra content, item-wise, in the hak. It is all eyecandy, but worth it if I have to say so myself.
