A short adventure module focusing on dialogue, exploration, and some puzzle-solving. Light on combat. And Story-driven.
"A devastating plague grips the small village of Maya in its death-like claw. Some tell you that you are a chosen one, fated to save this village; others, meanwhile, despair that even the gods are dead. A scant few believe only the Philosopher knows the answers. . .
Is the Question, however. . . Can one person save the World?

Dear Alan,
Very nice mod, even if a little too short for me. But, it's different from the usual hack'n'slash or tricks'n'traps and it's a pretty good idea ! If you want, I can help you to translate your work in french, so more people can play this interesting mod.
Keep on the good work !
*** SPOILER AHEAD ***
I had quite a hard time with the Dragon riddle, because of the english words, like "Doff" or "Shed", not usually used by a foreigner... If I may, I suggest you to think about player whose english isn't native tongue, and, maybe, give a little more verbal indications about the riddles. But, in fact, it's not a big deal.
*** SPOILER END *** _________________________ Ooooppppsss, I've mistaken your pocket and mine, no big deal, buddy... Hey, man, could you stop punching me when I'm talking to you ? Ooooch !
I'm glad you solved those puzzles, save for the Dragon. I know I made them a bit hard. The clues, too, could've been a bit more obvious.
Anyhow. . .
***SPOILER/HINT***
The Dragon tells you how to beat him. He tells you that he gave you something and now you must give it back if you are to ever defeat him. "Doff your Pride," I believe the Dragon says. "Shed your Vanity."
Also, all those clothes on the ground, that is another clue. Those are the remains of those that have defeated the Dragon, found the Light.
Additionally, let me say this: you will have to defeat the Dragon. But first you must give him back what he gave to you--"Doff your Pride. Shed your Vanity."
***SPOILER/HINT ENDS***
Have fun. :)

Dear Alan,
well, the hint was good and obvious, if I had the brain to read the books ;)... But new room, new trouble :
*** SPOILER AHEAD***
(you have been warned!)
the cow was quite easy, like for the badger, but now, the dragon... I have lost the books, so I tried some different ways, killing the Beast (well, a Rogue with 6 hp at the beginning of the fight, let say, it doen't work very well :D ), wearing the "beggar" outfit ('cause I thought at the most far away standing from Pride), I ran all around the grotto, trying to speak from time to time to the Beast... So, like in the song, I still haven't find what I'm looking for ! But with a little from my friends ;), maybe I could !

Thank you for your comments. I realized late in development that I should've stretched the story much more than I did, so as to create a greater effect. But I had a deadline to make so I had to rush everything a bit. I had a lot more ideas that I wanted to express in the module, too, but there just wasn't enough time. Plus, I couldn't present the story the way I wanted to because of the Toolset, and my inexperience with it. I do, however, hope to return to this story one day, perhaps using a different engine next time. Or perhaps it will be a book. Or movie. I am a writer, you see.
***SPOILER***
As for your trouble with Greed & Gluttony (the Badger), he is beatable. The hints are there, in the level, though they might be considered VERY subtle.
As for the movie sequence which locked up, it must've been a glitch, as the game had been tested many times, by myself and others.
***SPOILER ENDS***
Hey TheNaq,
I'm glad that you, too, enjoyed my short mod.
***SPOILER HINT***
Wrath & Sloth (the Wolf) can be defeated, like all sins, by doing the opposite of wrath and sloth. Basically, you need a little patience. Don't give him what he wants. Defeat him with "the voice of Nature".
In fact, a subtle clue to each of the last four puzzles resides in the "Page of a Book".

Dear Adrian,
I'm amazed by your mod, it's very compelling and for once one must use his brain instead of his muscles, but...
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
... I'm stuck with the wolf of wrath, I gave him all my blood but one point, and the door's still closed. The badger was easy, but I tried everything I thought of with the wolf, 1 point of blood, all my blood, all minus one (as I said before), I even tried to kill it (with my bare hand, doesn't work ;) ) and now, I am short of ideas... As English is not my native tongue, I may have missed something on the books, but I'm very much stuck. Could you please help me or at least give me a hint ?

It's quite remarkable, actually. It reminds me of Stefan Gagne Eternum series, only more philosophically inclined. The whole concept is very interesting and the crucible metaphor is well presented. The only reason I wont vote for it is that I cant really say if I finished it
SPOILERS
After siding with the alchemist I fought the demon smiths and killed the shaman, only to be sent to that cave with the final (I presume its final) book page. But there is no clear indication that it ends there. I crossed into the next area and was greeted by a greedy badger but there was no way to leave that place is it a bug?
Then I tried the other side, but after taking the items to the shaman and meeting his zombie alter ego the first zombie I killed turned the shaman himself against me I killed him and the whole movie sequence started and locked itself in a black screen it is it supposed to end like this?
Also, I could find no bag of coins near the boulders next to the alchemist house, I end up selling things to the gipsy in order to have the money to throw into the well.
...
I believe the whole experience could be made better if the pace was a little slower and there was some more time (and possibly quests) to help us dig into each one of the sides. In the Eternum series, for example, there is a lot of time and several conversations offering bits of information to help us understand what was happening with our character. That way the final revelation in this case the falling of the veil would be much more effective.
Not all ideas need to be developed like that, but I think yours would benefit from a longer story.
