Bloodpool. The very name should send cold chills down your spine. Created prior to the great cataclysm by Sinthar Bloodstone in his crusade to annihilate Dragon kind on Layonara, these pools of destructive force would later serve to pull him back to the land to exact his plans of domination and revenge on those who banished him for his crimes against the races.

The year is 1388 and there have been whispers in dark corners that a pool has been created or restored somewhere on the continent of Mistone. In a solitary seaside tower stands a force that may hold the key to its destruction or perhaps its harness. Forces collide for some may wish to rid the world of the menace of the pool yet others may seek to serve its master or even to harness its force for themselves.

You are but a raw recruit on your first mission in the entourage of a Mistonian Diplomat. Your caravan is seeking one who holds the key to these pools of despair. These are dark times and even routine travel can be dangerous. Out of the night comes the attack. Bugbears pour over the hills and advance on your small caravan. The battle roars around you then a sharp pain snaps above your eyes. Blackness drops over you...

...Layonara is a young world (by worldly standards) of epic fantasy, heroism, history and lore. Layonara involves normal characters who are becoming heroic in some way or rising in notoriety within a given society or organization. Layonara has a deep tie-in to the deities of the cosmos and nearly everything, in some way or anothereven if its minor, will revolve around the religions and creatures of the time. The civilizations are mostly in their early days and as such wars are not uncommon and are expected. Due to its young age the world is still going through land changing cataclysms which further throws the civilizations in to upheaval.

Layonara is about role-playing and storytelling. The focus is on the characters within the game world and how they change the world and how civilization and the world changes around them, and then their reactions within those changes. The world evolves and as it evolves the characters must adapt and live within the game world.

The game also has a new system called Ambiguous Interactive Dungeons that will remind everybody of the old days of Zork. It is a cool system that we will be releasing to the communtiy as a standalone product very soon.

-Not many places to rest.

*Really* enjoying this mod. Using a Mac and no hitches so far. But I'm stuck in the Atrium of the Ruin of Lies. I've looked around, examined, inspected, touched, lit, extinguished everything - even drank the puddle - and still can't figure out what to do next. Checked for secret doors, too. Am I missing something?

Had a look at journal and I believe I have done everything. Could not find any yew wood (as an archer, I would have given my left hand for some, OK left leg and nicked Bjarni's) Found the darts but not able to have the magical darts made for me. Missed out on the "ice opals" Was wondering a lot about graveyard and tomb. Graveyard had a pin, so that is always a little bit of a clue? and the tomb from the beginning? Killed the "X" in the dream but A died? What did the dream mean? Maybe that was something I should have looked at more carefully. Try and kill X and keep A alive and then talk to him in village about this dream. Tried to but nothing happened?

Thanks for your comments Eric! I'm glad you figured out the "slowness" that one really had me stumped. I guess to know if you were missing any side quests I'd need to know which ones you completed. There really aren't any side quests particularly related to the henchman, so no worries about missing something there. Bjarni seems to be the favorite amongst those I've spoke with. There are a few different ways to use the different henchman - with the ice opals for example, but I won't say more than that. There are also a couple of different ways to complete some of the quests and even several variations on the main plot outcome. Nothing new in the works at the moment unfortunately. But thank you for the offer, and thanks again for all your comments throughout. If we ever get to do another update I'm certain they will be most helpful. ~Lalaith

Whoops another mistake methinks. Obviously the reason why I look slow is of course Bjarni has barb movement. Anyway finished once more at 13th lvl 1 wiz/6 ftr/6AA on 81200 xp. Would love to know what possible side quests I am missing? Only used Bjarni so maybe other companions may have something to offer? Again combats are very challenging upto the point where character is 1th lvl then 4 attacks a round (rapid shot) and a 28 dex makes a heck of a difference. Also Bjarni with "Gemwall Shield?" and Shimmering weave of defence (Totals up damage resistance eg critters with +2 attacks, Bjarni can absorb upto 15 damage, critical hits though can come into it) Used an AA in NWN2 and realised how powerful a character they can be BUT I only play hardcore (attacks of opportunity) so you will normally need a sidekick or 2. Have knocked up the vote a little because of the enjoyment level and nail biting situations no more raise dead scrolls, running out of potions/heal kits and not having a +2 or better weapon vs some critters so relying on fire arrows, fire bullets, 1 pt neg dam and run and shoot and thank goodness tumble a lot. Also items to increase specific Sth, rather than complete immunity, VVG. Love to see this in NWN2. There is only 1 mod and that is the OC that takes a character from 1st lvl upto quite possibly 21st. Others from 1st to 9th max. Any other news on future projects and having helped playtest 1 or mods. I hope I could be in a position to help. Thank you

Whoops ok spotted it. My chat bar was not visible so I did not see AID etc come up. However am having the same prob as my first time around. Upto movie scene in village with Arden and myself (Bjorn is once again there, not there), my movement speed is normal. On returning from dream it has slowed down again. Bjorns portrait is still visible (right hand side of screen and green dot is visble on map). As an archer I rely on mobility. Playing hardcore I can not go toe to toe with many creatures as they have attacks of opportunity. So run and shoot enters into tactics. I am afraid I will have to stop now. I thought you may have changed Bjorn slightly as well. He still levels up on even levels as a thief and so receives feats for thieves. AID itself is OK but for some of the situations it is not necessary and negates players skills eg the statues have played games where when you tuch a statues it will move. The search skill is not required when it comes to AID (or is it?). As had been mentioned 25+ years ago something similar was in use. Although without superior graphics but with more commands. Overall I still enjoyed upto the same point had reached 1/6/4 wiz/ftr/aa pretty close to 12th lvl and found out something new.

Proves my memory is going. Anyway running (very fast on ocassions) through with a elf wiz/ftr/aa, playing hardcore so still very tough (found hardcore easier in NWN2 due to control of companions). Anyway rune of lies outside tomb/church, have keys but can not for the life of me work out how to get in. Help?

Yes you were correct. Thank you

Any chance you changed your video settings? If you have the shiny water enabled it will often cause crashing after the cutscene/movie. I'm not sure why, but its common. Check to see if thats on, and try turning it off. Oh, and thanks! Very excited with the award. Lalaith

First of all congratulations on the award. Have a problem with game at the mo. Have created adn selected characters to start mod but after the movie scene with captain, waiting for game to load up for the next part ie S.Road and it crashes. Microsoft has encountered a problem etc. Tried this 3 times now and game crashes at same point. Have played quite a few games recently and been playing NWN2 for a while as well. Any ideas?
