Description: A single player module designed primarily for young children. (My five year old daughter is very interested in NWN. Since I couldnt find an appropriate module for her, I made one myself.) Find the missing dragon, rescue Cody, collect her allowance, and find hidden gems.
Content Rating: G This module was developed for my five year old daughter. There is no violence or weapons of any kind. The cast of characters does include a skeleton, a giant beetle, and a giant spider.
**Note: to ensure that the player cannot inadvertently (or intentionally) attack NPCs, please set the games difficulty level to normal or lower. If I can find a way to avoid this problem without adjusting the difficulty level, I will update the modules accordingly. **
**Note: This has been corrected in version 1.0.1 (currently available) All areas are set to no PvP regardless of the difficulty setting.**
Character: I recommend that you use a halfling or gnome (for the desired diminutive stature). Level and class are irrelevant as no special skills or spells are required. Furthermore, no experience is gained for completing the various quests. That said, playing a wizard can be fun because they can summon familiars and cast cantrips.
There are three versions of the module.
1. Missing Dragon (v1.0.2): This is the original version that was personalized for my own daughter (Fiona). If you play this version, I recommend that you either use the character provided or another female character named Fiona. The use of any other name could result in an identity crisis. The use of a male character could result in an inadequate wardrobe. This module can be customized for your own child. Please see Missing Dragon Tips.rtf for suggestions and instructions.
2. Missing Dragon G (v1.0.2): This version has been tailored for female players (with respect to wardrobe and henchman). No specific player name is required.
3. Missing Dragon B (v1.0.2): This version has been tailored for male players (with respect to wardrobe and henchman). No specific player name is required.
Special Features: Look for a usable easel, writing desk, oven, and food items as well as usable mounts.
If you would like to customize this module for your own child, please see the Missing Dragon Tips file for suggestions and instructions. This file was last updated on May 6, 2007.
Using Horses:
There are two classes of horses in the module: horses that you own and horses that you don't presently own. At the start of the game, you own the two horses in your barn and you may purchase any of the horses at the stables in the village.
You may only mount a horse that you own. One of the options in the conversation file for a horse in your possession is mount horse. Selecting this option will cause you to mount the horse. If your henchman is present and there is another horse in your possession present, they will mount too. Upon mounting, a dismount token will appear in your inventory. To dismount, use the token. This will cause you and your henchman to dismount. Selecting the conversation option send horse home will send the horse to your barn.
To purchase a horse from the stables, go to the stables office and speak with Varia. If you have at least 25gp, you will have the option of purchasing a horse. If you purchase a horse, you will receive a receipt. Take the receipt to the stables barn and engage a horse in conversation. If there is a receipt in your possession, one of the options will be purchase horse.
Update October 30, 2008: Uploaded Images.

This is the best mod I have ever found for my daughter, and I recommend it to every parent that plays NWN with their kid. I CANNOT BELIEVE this mod isn't in the HALL OF FAME! This is the mod I wanted to make for my girl! In fact, I've made about 8, but none of them are even close to this one!
I was very excited to read Barry's post. I would love for this mod to be rebuilt! Go Barry and makeham! My girl will love you for it!
@cbathrob - if you're trying to play the boys version of this module, then you're missing the cep2_v1.tlk file (I've not checked if all other versions use this, but i suspect so) I'll be honest, I've no idea where you can get the .tlk file by itself, the CEP pages tend to confuse me utterly. If you'd like, feel free to mail me and i'll happily send you a copy of the one I have. I hope your son has a lot of fun playing this module, it is delightful :)
My son is very excited about the prospect of playing your mod. The problem is, I keep getting a "missing custom talk table" message when I try to load it. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix for it?
Gruizzer, it is my understanding that CEP v2.2 has been patched such that the horse scripts should work with the patched version. Thanks for reporting the problem. _________________________ Missing Dragon Forest Coast Add On

Was not until i got some inquiries as to why this module was no longer working on the CEP Bioware Forums that i became acquainted with this module.
I needed to download and examine it -- and -- i found a delightful little module for children or adults. I saw that CEP 2.2 could actually do away with the other custom modules and added improvements to the Unicorn and tileset and bring the module into 1.69 use.
I sent the module makeham and we have discussed rebuilding more areas, such as forests, in better tilesets. I have made one, the Unicorn Forest, for makeham' approval before more are converted, using the TNO rural, with NWN2 mountains and Worm's trees -- like like the look but it is makeham's call.
We are also talking about possible additions -- more to do.
I guess i really liked Missing Dragon -- so i will vote.

Makeham, so its been a while since my daughter played this module and today she wanted to play it again. I set her all up and 20 minutes later I hear "DADDY!! the horses will not me ride them! The just shake their heads no!" Im like what? Sure enough when she clicks a horse in the barn and chooses Mount Horse the mneu disappears and the horse shakes it head back and forth. Very weird. Do you think a CEP update or something has broke your horse script? _________________________ aka Ashercon

This is a great idea and wonderfully executed (cut-scenes, design, etc are superb). I don't have any kids, but I had fun with this change of pace nevertheless. I can just imagine how great this is with the young'ens.

You know, I made one of these for my boy as well. We made it together with the whole family. (He turned Mom into a dragon. Must mean I am the favorite parent...hehe.) _________________________ People react violently to fur rather than leather because it is easier to pick on rich chicks with bad taste than biker gangs.
Berra, thanks for the suggestion. I never use screen shots when evaluating modules, so it never occured to me to upload any for my own module. I'll give it a try and see what happens. _________________________ Missing Dragon Forest Coast Add On
I've heard of your module from back at the NWNPodcast as well as various other places and I find it really cool that you've made something that kids could play in NWN. :)
Everyone: your VOTES are highly appriciated. A vote is like gold for an author. No kiddin'. ;)

This is a very cute and charming module that I expect would be quite good for introducing children to NWN. There was a lot of backtracking, though, and much of the module is a set of chained fetch quests. Also, the disappearing dismount token prevented hotbarring it, which would have been more convenient. But the horses were a nice touch, and there was a lot of attention to detail in the way the environments were created. All in all a good children's module. _________________________ Sanctum of the Archmage Writing Projects Website and Blog Academy for Modding Excellence
Thanks for the votes Gelbkreuz and Gruizzer (Ashercon).
I want to put out a sequel very much, but between waiting for the v1.69 patch, a final version of LoWs seasonal forest tileset, and the demands of real life I havent made a lot of progress yet. I think that I may take a chapter approach with the next module so that I can release smaller pieces faster.

I forgot to vote!!! There you go. My 9 year old still wants to play this mod at least once a month! Will there be a sequel?

Although I haven't played it and propably won't,it is very cool idea. Thus 10 points.
Wow, I finally crossed the ten vote threshold! Thanks everyone. When I originally posted this module, I expected a download count in the dozens at most. Between the different versions, the download count is now approximately 530. My daughter is starting to get bored with Missing Dragon, so I need to get more serious about finishing my next project. _________________________ Missing Dragon Forest Coast Add On
Maddyanne, thanks for the vote and your comments! I agree that changing the players appearance is critical feature for this age group. My daughter can spend hours just changing the players and henchmans clothes.

I think this is the last module I started before building ate me. I loved getting to use the easel and baking different things. I can't wait till Katie is old enough to play this.
A note on heads--- I always play as a female character, so I don't know about the choices available for boys, but both the gnome female head with the hair ribbon and the halfling female head with the little beret make good child heads and don't look incongruously old. You have to be able to visibly change clothes or it's just not as much fun. _________________________ Madeleine

Haven't played but the concept is a great idea IMO.
The problem with the child models is that their appearance doesn't change when they equip outfits and changing outfits is a big part of the appeal to my girls. _________________________ Missing Dragon Forest Coast Add On
I just use the unmount token outside the entrance of dragon cave and they just disappear. I will try again later to see how can I encounter this problem.
What a fabulous idea. Im glad you thought of it. I updated the category for this module today and I look forward to seeing other content in this category (I am still working on my sequel to missing dragon, but it is very slow going).
Thanks for taking a look at the module and for your vote. Im not sure what could be going wrong with the horses. Upon dismount, they are supposed to remain close to their original position unless you send them home through the dialog option. The only exception is when you are transported from the tower to the dragons lair upon reaching the missing dragon. If you left your horse(s) outside the tower, they are moved to a location just outside the dragon cave.
