Description
NOW AVAILABLE AS 1.69 UPDATE, USING CEP 2.2 AND DMFI 1.09!
(Please note the 2.2 version that states tlk file corrected is the current version, and also makes use of DMFI 1.09)
Muddles in Milton is a module for Neverwinter Nights 1 designed specifically with Dungeon Masters in mind. It is provided as a stage, complete with actors, ready for you to use in your role of Dungeon Master.
It will not function as a single player game as a DM MUST be present. Do not download these files if your intention is to play as it may spoil your enjoyment of the game.
Although no pre-defined adventure is in place, a fairly large area has been mapped out with working transitions that will act as your stage.
NPCs are also in place, including merchants and their stores.
Every NPC has a basic conversation provided so that possession is only required as and when the DM sees fit. Conversations are deliberately minimal, containing just enough so that they still appear to have some character if a player converses with them while theyre not possessed by a DM. Each NPC also carries a book within their inventory intended solely for the DM, outlining basic information to help the DM develop character when interacting with the players. By equipping the module in this way it is hoped that the DM can create an adventure to their own liking with minimal effort, so that no one DM session will be identical to another. You are by no means limited to whats written in the DM books, in fact, you could go in and write further notes within them so they are present when you run your game, after all, the best tool at your disposal is your own imagination.
As the module is specifically catered for DM use, it makes use of the Dungeon Master Friendly Initiative scripts. To find out more about their system, visit their website at Link It also makes use of CEP2, and the Ambient System.
The title Muddles in Milton has been chosen as a generic title to cater for the different possibilities for adventure that a DM may choose to act out within the module. To further help the DM in this regard, it comes with a comprehensive DM guide giving full details as to what can be found within the module. Please ensure you read it.
Further add-on ERF files may be made available depending on interest shown.
EDIT: KNOWN ISSUES:
If the Town Crier doesn't return to his daytime post, chances are he's got stuck by the Eastern exit of "The Jolly Jester". I've made several attempts to fix this without success. If the problem surfaces (it doesn't all the time), simply possess him and move him a little. On unpossessing he should return to his normal routine.
If not completely emptied when opened by a DM, "Quest Chests" leave loot when they self destruct. Ensure you empty such chests, or better still, only create them in the DM zone.
Link to the Dice Player found within one of the taverns should you wish to incorporate him in a tavern of your own. Enables players to play dice with an NPC - see them blow on the dice before rolling them against a wall!
Rar file of the accompanying DMs Guide for Muddles in Milton...essential reading if you intend to run the module! Please note that this is in Adobe Acrobat format.
Sorry Wereelynx2, I'm too absorbed in The Relbonian Chronicles at the mo, but Chapter One is complete and single player if you were looking for something to play ;) _________________________ View my blog regarding the Relbonian Chronicles project --> Link
It has come to my attention that the latest version has accidentally been saved with the wrong tlk file in place. Apologies to those that have downloaded it. I shall rectify it as soon as possible. Hope to see the corrected version within the next few days. _________________________ View my blog regarding the Relbonian Chronicles project --> Link
Woah! Steady on there Jfox! I must say that the playtesting you've done on "The Relbonian Chronicles" is easily my best work to date, and prior to that, "Muddles" was probably my best. Anything before Muddles is below the quality I strive for now, so saying my work is "among the best NWN has to offer" is, I feel, bias to your experience of your playtesting, and therefor doesn't accurately represent my currently available offerings.
Having said that, I'm grateful for the vote and do believe "Muddles" is worthy of it, as I believe the DM Guide alone testifies. It's a little worrying that the module downloads outweigh the DM guide downloads though, as this might indicate some are missing out on the excellent reference resource for the module.
I'm expecting an official review later this year, so hopefully they'll give some feedback on the play value of the module and how useful the prospective DM finds the guide.

My placeholder vote.
While I have not played the module and I freely admit this is a very high vote in that circumstance - I justify my vote on the following basis.
The documentation is indeed worthy of a 10 and I have downloaded and read it.
I have had the privledge of playing other work by QM. His work is indeed among the best NWN has to offer.
If you are hosting, or playing at connetions I strongly recommend you give this a try.
Thanks for asking us to review your DM module. We at the guild are quite excited about attempting to review this module, and have been working out ways to do so, and to arrange the review text categories to suit this module type.
We might well have a super DM who will run your module for us, although it likely won't be until late July early August. However we do have one request of you. Would you be able to update your module to 1.69 patch, DMFM and the latest CEP? (I am informed that it shouldn't be hard to do...although I have no idea if that is true?)
Let me know what you think and if you will be able to accommodate our request. My e-mail is below. Thanks!

This is how it's supposed to be done. _________________________ If A is a success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut.

Congratulations on being DMFI-certified! Well deserved, the module has been used by several DMs in their campaigns and the documentation is outstanding and fun to read on its own.

To DMHoyaSaxa - No, I didn't consider HABD or SBR. What are they?
I intentially wanted haks to be kept to a minimum, but felt that CEP was popular enough to warrant its use.
Thanks for the "congrats"...life is certainly challenging now! ;) _________________________ View my blog regarding the Relbonian Chronicles project --> Link
Saw the post in the NWC forums. Read the DM Guide. Looks like what i have been waiting for. Eager to check it out. Quick question: Did you consider implementing HABD or SBR? Congrats on your son!
Thanks guys, the guide was a labour of love, so it's certainly encouraging hearing your comments. :)
Errata: Oops, the guide mentions a Quest Chest for Yane Tumblar. Unfortunately this was never implemented, although I may address this in a future ERF add-on. _________________________ View my blog regarding the Relbonian Chronicles project --> Link
10 for the DM Guide alone! 20 with the module! *angry half-orc yells* What you mean only 10?!? BAH! 20!!!
*grins* "Well-Done" This definitely sets the bar on how documentation should be done for all DM-able modules.

A genuinely well-done Mod, and the addition of the DM Guide is awesome! This innovation gets my best note!
