Description
A day in life of evil wizard Tivvum the Incantifer, an NPC epic level wizard from my previous modules. As before, it is a standalone work and can be played independantly without losing anything.
I've spent about 30 hours building it.
Installation: .mod to modules, .bic to localvault. You can use your own epic(or not) wizard, just name him Tivvum. Requires CEP 2.1 and NwN 1.69

Changing my vote from 9.something to 10. Too many people giving 10s to far less fascinating modules.

Worth playing, cool effects of protagonist awesomeness.

No real breakdown of where the score I'm giving comes from: It was a fun story. If I ~did~ have a specific breakdown, I'd probably have given a lower score due to the railroading, but since it was openly stated right at the beginning that railroading was occurring, I went into it thinking of it as a short story in which I get to press buttons.
It was short, but that felt like a good length for this, and the time was spent reasonably efficiently. It had the plot, and a sub-plot to help with pacing: All it needs.
I do, however, think it would have been better not to have to trudge between the journal room and the library; as an immortal wizard, he probably has to make such a trip often enough that putting them closer together or in the same room would have already saved years (maybe even decades) of walking. So, yeah, my only complaint big enough to mention is, basically, "Well, I had to walk around a lot."
My personal play style tends to involve holding onto limited resources for long enough that I forget that most of them exist, so when I played the PC beat most of the enemies to death with a staff of power and sound bursts from a rod. I am glad that his statements about how far out of everyone else's league he is were not overconfident boasting. (Things did become a bit worrisome when sneak attacks came up. Of course, since generally wizards ~shouldn't~ be fighting large groups of ambush specialists without casting any spells, the fact that doing so ~almost~ didn't work and probably wouldn't have if he just blindly charged forward isn't really a flaw.)

A Masterpiece!
Key Features:
- Mage (Wizard or Sorcerer) module using CEP 2
- Interactive Movie: a new nwn genre
- Play the provided character or your own Evil (or possibly Neutral) character
- Pick a strategy before starting your day and choose your spells wisely (there is no coming back, no resting, no respawn)
Note: I did play with my own character (and my comments may reflect that) so I would have to see how it goes with the real Tivvum.
With a handful of good ideas and 30 hours to spare Hellix crafted an outstanding "interactive module" (a category or type not seen before).
Gameplay (10): The game did flow very well and I was never bored. The settings (your own tower in a demi-plane), some of the items (e.g. ethereal chest, interactive journal) or some custom spells (scripted) made DLE the best (epic) mage module to date. For once you really feel that Tivvum (or your own character) can rival Mordenkainen, Bigby, Raistlin or Elric.
RP/Storytelling (10): Because this is an "interactive module" (where the player will mainly watch cutscenes and read texts and conversations) there is little if any RP here or you could say roleplaying Tivvum is already embedded in the story in such a way that the player does not really need to worry about that. The storytelling is nothing short of excellent.
Action (10): with only three quests and the bulk of the module making the player rather passive one could argue that DLE lacks good action. Au contraire, despite the fact that combats were very limited the author ensured that strategic choices and some tactics were used to survive the day ensuring an adequate challenge. My rather pathetic necromancer (Cleric 12/Wizard 11) without uber equipment had to decide what spells he would take for that day. As a wrong choice could mean permanent death he decided to go the melee mage route. The author also provided a choice of interesting yet non uber items (I took a ring and a scroll). I also found an additional challenge in the fact that cutscenes often kill your buff as a result my Tivvum was going around without any and started to cast spells relatively late in each quest. With all this said I found the actual major combats a bit easy perhaps because the NPC here are not immune to almost all types of attacks or that Hellix decided that the odds should be in favor of the old mage. Overall I found the action here to be a real breath of fresh air compared to the last battle in Hugie's "Tale of a Mage" or in almost every single fight in Flechette's "Dark Water's Edge".
Visuals/Sounds (9.5): There is no custom music but the visuals are the best you can get with CEP only. I could not read some of the floating texts (either they were too fast or my camera did not zoom close enough).
Replayability (8): First, I really want to try the real Tivvum so the game is repayable at least once. I would also like to see how it goes using another strategy. Would a "summoner" be able to survive? Could a "blast-as-you-go" sorcerer run out of "ammo" mid game?
Polish (9.5): All good other than cosmetics IMHO. Playing your own character had some minor problem. Would you play something like an elf sorceress or a dwarf wizard the old man with glowing eyes may not work for you. In that case you would need to either modify the "appoldman" script or use "SetAppearance" in game to revert to your original self. Also note that they are no XP and the character (shall he survive) will not be exported at the end.
Fun Factor (10): A superb, well polished module that is great fun to play. Give us more please.
Great job, Hellix!
It was really fun playing an evil archmage in a planescape-ish module! _________________________ "They're all different, and they're all fascinating"

A lot of fun. I enjoyed the humor and the visuals. Thanks!

Quite surprising module! At first I thought I wouldn't like the railroad but it's actually quite a ride. The final convo was a bit too long. Excellent use of vfx, cutscenes well made & placed. Nice work!
Hellix, I sent you an e-mail a few days ago via the Vault system, I'm not sure you got it though? Would you please mail me at the e-mail below as we at the Reviewer's Guild have a request of you?

This is a very good module. I particularly liked the visual effects and the PC personality. Smashing work.

Ditto to what everyone else has said. A most intriguing and even humorous character. I ran into the camera freezes too :( but thoroughly enjoyed it. Thought provoking too. My only regret and the reason I will replay, is that I went really stingy with using the spells thinking I need to save them for later. Had fun doing melee with that staff as a wiz though.. lots of great eye candy here too.. and i had never noticed minotaurs butting heads with their horns before.. very cool... in fact.. just a really cool and short mod... yeah i read your read me to. Thanks for acting out on this inspiration.

Played through fine for me.. and I musta done something right.. because the lack of resting didn't bother me. It's all in one day.. so it makes perfect sense.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this character.. I wondered if I would be bothered by playing a pre-made PC but I had no problem immersing myself in the character.. in fact.. the character is very thought provoking..
Thanks for spending part of your hard-earned vacation building this mod.. and, yes, I read all the readme ;)
For me.. this was ground-breaking .. why? The story.. For me story supersedes all else.. And the character.. fabulous.. Thank you. _________________________ Enjoy!

Well, there's only one valuation system but lots of different gaming styles. And while some people might disagree with my high vote for a mod that is short, very linear, without any role-play options, without the possibility of resting and has relatively easy combat...
... I say: So what? It's still everything it was meant to be, and it's fun if you are willing to reconcile you with that gaming style (if you're not, don't play it; it's not as if you weren't warned). Basically this is an interactive story including a little bit of action. And the story is original, well told and presented, with lots of eye candy and gripping, often hilarious dialogue. Great job, Hellix! Thanks a lot! Now I`d like to play both of your other mods, too.
(I ran into that camera lock bug too, but since it was easily cured and apparently not the fault of the designer, I won't take it into account.)
2 lisha_sun:
I experienced this bug too, thought I fixed it. It happens because sometimes a NwN client locks up when a series of scripts tied to area enter are executed simultaneously. This is really a system issue, and is more likely to surface on slower computers.
The only time it can really be plot critical is near the very end, in the final cutscene. If it happens there, wait for about 2 minutes, and you will still get the final dialogue and module ending (with no visuals, but still).

Really good module, but it seems I run into a bug(?) unfortunately...
---SPOILER---
When teleport back from forest, the camera seems will be locked up... Same situation appears when teleport to Lopitar, the character can move freely, but camera locked at one angle and cannot move with the character, but once the game be saved and reloaded it back to normal again. But perhaps it's just my own problem because my PC's pretty slow...
But it's really not important, this is a very well done module, I enjoy every minute playing it.

About resting: that would make things way too easy, especially if a player chooses to avoid some of combat encounters. _________________________ Click Link to view content submitted by me.

I think this was a pretty polished and interesting mod-effort. :) The cutscenes were done really well as well as the various custom systems like the chests for example. The story felt very original and had a couple of interesting plot-twists.
The only gripes I have with the mod is that I personally missed the opportunity to rest in the mod. Not one area had resting enabled. Sure, I understand you choose to disable it because everything takes place on one day, as the title says, BUT ... since you play a wizard and it would be cool to be able to use the epic-level spells more than once, I'd have to say that at least ONE opportunity to rest would be nice. There also were some spelling errors, nothing mayor, but it's still there.
Overall a very decent short-mod. It felt like a pretty new experience playing an evil character, I usally play neutral or good most of the time, and you managed to make it feel more like an "intelligent evil" instead of the default "Chaotic-Evil Fighter" or whatever. It also felt pretty refreshing that all wasn't just about taking over or destroying the world. :D
Everything should run smoothly, I think I've rooted out all the bugs. Let me know if I'm wrong.
Sorry, no screenshots, most of the cool visual stuff happens in cutscenes and the module is short, so putting anything on a screenshot would be a spoiler. _________________________ Click Link to view content submitted by me.
