Description
Sinister inc. 2 - Hail To The King v.1.0 beta
------
Disappointed with your performance on your first mission your boss sent you on an obviously simple assignment which gradually spiraled out of control (again)...
In a desperate attempt to conquer some of the market of the Elven Empire, a repressive monarchy with a pervasive military aspect, your company has opened a shop in one of the Empire's bigger cities where all of your competitors are owned by the state. In order to survive your company needs all information on the economic policies of the regime it can get.
What at first seems to be a simple search for information soon turns out to be a matter of life and death. You are caught in the middle of an insane struggle for power in a world full of intrigues and quickly end up as a direct enemy of the state. Will you be able to get your head out of the sling or will you only get deeper entangled in a net of inevitable chaos and bureaucratic bungling?
Hail to the King is an immersive single-player module with an emphasis on roleplaying. You will interact with a huge variety of colorful NPC characters, face a chimerical trial about your own execution (Connoisseurs of classical fiction will certainly notice a tinge of Kafka in it), lead an army into a battle of epic dimensions, encounter charismatic villains and rabid butterflies, discover a compelling storyline, and develop a relationship with you henchmen.
A tremendous amount of time and effort went into this mod.
You can play it without having played 'Dilating Dimensions' before without missing anything important.
The mod is intended for a male character. (Nothing will stop you from choosing a female one, although you will have to live with the fact that some dialogs will seem quite out of place if you decide to play it with a female protagonist.)
This may all sound a little gloomy, but I can assure you - without giving away too much - this is largely a humorous module following the style of my first mod.
A rebuilt version for the CEP 2.1. (requires nwn 1.69) Also replaces the 'Elven Interior' hak with a more recent version of this tileset available at: link You need to download ctp_elf_interior.rar

Finally had a chance to play it.
Everytime I entered "the road north" area the game crashed, but after reloading few times and lowering graphical settings I managed to run through the area.
No crashes when loading the game for the first time - as trunamer had it.
Some issues:
- some characters are missing portraits
- useable placeables with no use at sinister coffee shop
- when you have not enough money the blacksmith's enchantments won't work; the 4 options for elemnetal damage are described as acid damage
- Adelaida is slightly injured(perhaps she fought someone? faction issue?)
- necromancer is wearing a troglodyte(don't know why), probably hak error?
- "merchands" - typo in gate guard coversation
- Hilda's quest is broken, the door is unopenable, even when invisible and wearing the cape, had to jump behind it, swapped the vials, but sybil would not notice - again had to set vialquest integer to 1
- some NPCs lack convos
- siggy has no shop, despite his conversation telling that I want to trade with him
- Cordelia's robe negates her dexterity(its more chainmail than robe)
- guards description is wrong - it's about Maugs
- first time I "killed" Edmund nothing happened, reloaded and everything went fine
- dragon is immortal(OK, I know I had to recruit him later)
- myooze followed me everywhere(especially after loading game) despite telling her to stay. Never managed to take her to the resistance(I was too lazy for another 5 crash&load in the area mentioned earlier. _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

@Trunamer: try removing your override(just rename it to "noverride" or sth and create dummy folder "override") or/and lower your setting. Sometimes your download might also get corrupted - you might want to try to download again. That's all I can think of. _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)
Played the first module and love it :)
I started this one up but it only loads the module half way before the game crashes. I have CEP 2.1 as well as the elven hak. I'm pretty sure I downloaded everything I needed as well. Any ideas? :/

hmm, you liked it and still voted 2.25? _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

Cool story - even better than part one. Combat was really well balanced in this one, unlike the previous one. Couple of negatives... a whole lot of backtracking over long distances was required, and it got a bit tedious after a while. Also, almost all of the area transitions, you had the waypoint pointing at the exit, which gets annoying after a while.
The ending was strange.

Great storyline, much better than in part 1. Dialogs and characters are very realistic and most time really hilarious. The dramatic element is also well done, particularly the final battle was fun. The romance option is a bit underdeveloped as you don't have many options at the end. I'd love to see a sequel, since the ending doesn't explain much, but I guess this is intended for an overarching storyline.
It's also a quite nonlinear mod, since there are very little restrictions on your movement and you can go wherever you like. It's not always clear what you should do next, thus a lot of patience and exploring is required, but I liked that.
Ahhh,, The Elven Tileset could be the one as I have all the CEP stuff,, and of course everything is where it should be .. many tnx ;)
Now to see more fun :p
I assume you've downloaded and installed the CEP 2.1 (not 2.0) and the 'Elven Interiors' tileset, and also placed the sinister2.hak in the right folder.
I'm not really sure what you mean. Shouldn't the name of the missing resource be written to the log file? If it's there, please post it.
Errr I have a Missing .Hak Error,, and the odd thing is,, I get On Log File for it. _________________________ Dalethfc

I really enjoyed this module, except for the end. Being in prison, a mysterious masked woman shows up, you click on the door, and that's it? Just doesn't make sense. Was not able to finish the Myooze quest or the fairy's quest, but that will give me a reason to play again sometime.
Thanks for all the votes and comments, which for the most part were overwhelmingly positive!
I'm very busy right now, but I hope I can offer you an update soon which fixes all these bugs.
About the dwarves: the encounters outside the city are basic encounters that spawn always in the hostile faction and will not change their faction when you have befriended their commander. The commander should be always neutral. I know this is not a good solution, but currently the only way to avoid fighting the dwarves is avoiding the triggers for the encounters when you enter the siege camp. I think I mentioned this issue in one of my previous posts.

Much beetter storyline in part 2 IMO. It was quite buggy for me. I'd have to restart several times to make things work (especially when I was taken to my trial right after entering the warded tower). Also, I couldn't finish my first game because I killed the dragon 'accidentally' and couldn't get the dwarves to do anything other than attack me. I figured out the dragon in the next go round but still the dwarfs hate me. What am I missing?
Overall, very good and fun mod. Nice work! _________________________ The less you know, the more you believe.

Really enjoyed playing this part as a follow-up to part 1. Good storyline and dialogs always keep me playing along happy. In version 1.0 I did see Blanche, Myooze & the captive fairy spawn back in their old areas after the PC had lead each to their new safe location. Blanche by the village Inn, Myooze in the Palace, and another fairy from the tube by the display cases. In Aribert's helmet quest, no helmets are removed from inventory when the PC offers them for payment, infinite XP with only one helmet is possible. Thanks again for making these modules, the upgraded portrait for Cordy in part 2 was a nice touch so she didn't look so NWN2.

I just finished the mod. Really enjoyed it! Excellent characters and very good humour throughout the module. I really loved the traditionalist dragon, Godon, Aribert, Hans, Sybil Svelte (Awesome!), Hilda, The inventor, Cordelia and all the others. And Samantha was a really believable character too.
This module also has a great story and nice visuals! The custom music for Zentha was a bit off (a bit too dramatic) I think but the music for the court was really good.
* SPOILERS *
- The ending was pretty wierd. I got stuck in prison and then some strange figure freed me and that was it? Were there other endings?
- It was nice with relationship-points and the small romance that I got with Samantha. But it would have been nice to talk to her more and to develop the relationship further. When she said "my love" in the end I was a bit surprised. I didn't think she liked my character that much. Was there a chance to get a romance going with Cordelia too? My relationship points with here never got beyond 3 and I treated her nicely all the way. Maybe I did something wrong?
- It wasn't always obvious what ýou were meant to do in every situation.
Thank you Cincinnatus C!! I had a great time playing this!

--SPOILERS--
I agree it's not very ethical what he proposes, but only if you accept Aribert's quest (actually doing it is up to you) the city gates will be opened again. The transition to the siege camp is on the bridge right outside the city. You don't have to kill any dwarf if you don't want to, there are two or three encounters in this area, if you stay close to the area boundaries and approach the tent from behind they'll probably never spawn. (but that's naturally a strange way to play it) Or simply run away from the fights ;-) The commander you'll find inside the tent is always neutral.

Sorry to bother with all this questions. You must think I'm stupid or something...but I'm stuck again.
*MAJOR SPOILERS*
Gradus army is about to attack and I got the mission to get allies. I've spoken with the people of Arda (the woman in the Event Hall) and the rebels but how do I get to the dwarves? I've walked around for quite a bit now and I don't know how to get to them. I tested by taking the Aribert (such a fun character!) quest but I don't want to do his quest since I obvioulsy don't want to kill the dwarves. So what am I supposed to be doing?

Thanks for the quick reply and for the help!! I thought I had been there recently but you were right. Things had changed there.
@andgalf: have you been to the docks area yet? Since you've done 'a bunch of quests' some things should have changed there...
Posted by andgalf at 2008-09-25 14:05:36 Voted 9.00 on 09/29/08
I've got some problems again. It seems that I'm stuck. Right now I really don't know what to do...
**SPOILERS**
I've done a bunch of quests. I've got Cordelia and Samantha in my party. I've done both Cordelia's and Samantha's quest. And I've watched Baldur die too. I thought I would find some clues or something in his apartment but nothing there. I also thought that after I fought the soldiers that killed Baldur that I would get some clues of how to continue the investigation of the murders. Any hints on how I am to proceed?
@andgalf: Myooze will just follow, she won't join your party and she won't follow you into the sewers. In my first drafts I intended to include her as henchwoman, but as I wanted the henchmen to play a major role in the development of the plot I found fewer and fewer ways for her to fit in. There is a quest in the city involving her so she doesn't run after you without a purpose.
@LadyoftheGroves: This seems to be a bug. If you open the door a script determines the first effect that is applied to your player character, each effect having a unique integer number. (Effects are visible in the upper right corner) Could it be that you've already applied another effect before using the invisibility cloak, so the script always checks the wrong effect? It should work if you remove all other effects first.
I am trying to use the vial with Sybil's opponant at the beginning. I went upstars, got the vial, cloak, gold, etc. from the chest. I've fount the opponant's room, but I can't get into it. I used the invisibility on both myself and Cordelia, and the invisibility and concealed icons shows up in the top right corner, and am wearing the cloak itself as well. When I try to open the door, it gives me the message that "I shouldn't enter without the protection of Sybil's Invisibility cloak" message. If I try from a different angle, the door will open, but close immediately before I can go through. Any suggestions?

I've played for a while now and it's great so far.
**SPOILERS**
I'm trying to include Myoze into my party and she comes along but she her portrait doesn't show up under the others to left of the screen if you know what I mean. Isn't she a real companion/henchman or what? Or is it a bug?
Posted by andgalf at 2008-09-21 00:04:30 Voted 9.00 on 09/29/08
I will play this soon. Right now I'm replaying episode 1 to remember what it was all about.
Here's a release for 2.1. Hope you'll like it. The 2.1 version uses a more recent version of the 'Elven Interior' Tileset. The link is provided in the download description, you don't need the hak below for this release in order to play.)
The mod actually uses the resources of the CEP2.0, I wrote it needs version 2.1. I'm really sorry for making such an incredibly stupid mistake! I'll upload a version for 2.1 shortly.
Please inform me if you encountered any other problems (since it's quite a complicated module).
