Description
You are a young graduate, having completed the first half of the Janin Academy, a school of adventuring. You are ready to enter the Graduation Chamber, with your friends...
*This module is a relationship-based romance. How you treat others (and your alignment) affects the ending of the adventure. There are multiple romance options (2 men for females, and 1 woman for males). Trials is rated Adult, because of sexual content and nudity.
*Your characted is young, so 'teenager-like' dialogue is sometimes used.
*Trials features an engaging 53,000 word storyline, over 95 areas, 3 new feats, and 18 cutscenes.
*You should have a clean override folder before playing, because problems have been known to occur without one.
*Please vote and leave comments once you have finished playing!

It's a pretty complete module, but it wasn't very engaging for me. The characters didn't seem very deep. Some quests were fun and some were silly (a husband and wife who needed an adventurer to communicate among themselves, if I remember well). The dying issue... I guess it's a way to stop conversation breaks, but game over upon companion death is annoying, especially since I couldn't tell why that generic woman was important, except that she had a name (Arriana).
Very Challenging module. the instant death on exiting a conversation via the escape key, is extremely annoying though. I've a bad habbit of accidentally clicking my henchmen and usually escape the conversation using that method without thinking about it all the time. Some of the combat is nigh impossible for mages, haven't played with anything else yet. just started a second play-through with a monk(my next favorite class). I'm hoping for better luck this time. also I didn't bother with the romances the first time through, so I'll run through with all of them for fun. just a shame that you don't get to keep the henchwoman you find in town. she was pretty helpful for that first part. _________________________ jml's list of community addons/overrides, etc. Link

-.25: level strip
-.25: item strip
-.25: "lack of level-appropriate equipment"
-.25: precise henchman scripting caused me to die even when I did nothing actually wrong. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Well, I played this mod some time ago, and downloaded it again recentry, not remembering I already had played it. Upon staring, i realized it, but nevertheless I continued playing it again. Since I saw I didn't comment it the first time, here I go.
A quite good module. No bugs found, good cutscenes, and an interesting ambientation. Although its linearity nad some oddities, it the story works quite well, and there are some interesting ideas and plots. If it had had the story more ellaborated and a longer duration, it would undoubtely had added a lot of extra fun. Anyway, on the other side it is module quick to play, and so it don't become boring.

Some comments:
- There are some oddities about the story. For instance, why the Master, who suppossedly 'foresees' your action, do not kill all of you when captured by the werewolves, as he has then THE golden opportunity? What is the sense in leaving you to proceed? Why are you and Ash not stripped of your equipmente when captured?
- The city in the skies had a lot of room for more action and sidequests. It is a pitty that, having such a nice areas, it had not been exploited a bit more. Also it is quite odd that so few shops existed, and the the only armory is really an archery shop.
- The way in which your henchmena are managed is s bit odd. They are 'replaced', so all the equipmente you give them is lost upon starting ecah 'phase'. Also, upon escaping the Academy, your henchmen have better equipment than later. For instance, Ash loses his shield, and thee is no option anymore to buy him another in any shop (fortunately I carried an spare one, which I had to retrieve upon completion of echa plot -to not lose it- and giving it to him again upon starting the following one).
- The romance plot is somewhat 'light'. I played a male character and ended in the private meeting with Melina. So, the romance completed... and my PC never her meet again. Upon the endidng you learn you both become together again... but it could have be quite perhaps more interesting that she entered your party (for instance, instead of Nathan or Ash) so more romance options could have been possible.
- The equipment you found is quite class-unbalanced. I don't know if loot is generated depending on the PC class (it could be so), but, except a leather armour, a robe and a staff, most of the loot I found seemed to be appropiate for fighter classes only (fortunately, it was ok for my PC), so I guess that, it the loot is static, some other clasees could have a tougher time playing the mod. Fortunately, the possible henchwoman you can hie at first can balance this (I played the missions solo, though).

Summarizing, a not long, enjoyable and interesting mod, with many goog things to offer. Thanks to the author for offering this work.
If anybody looks for a mod which is not overhelming with options, very long, and in which you made won't loose yourself in a lot of possible paths, I would recommend you to try this one.

utterly awesome. All i have to say :)

This module strikes me as uncompleted.
In addition to not being "fleshed-out" the henchman or I would randomly drop dead, for example while talking to the priest in the temple of Lathandar, necessitating a reload. Since this happened randomly and for no apparent reason, it resulted in lots of frustration and backtracking. I'd suggest this be looked into, but I think this mod is too old to be kept up.
Anyway, a fun little romp, if a bit frustrating due to the dropping dead bug I mentioned.

Nothing really to add to the pros and cons expressed by others!
On the plus side! No major bugs on playing it! Good storyline! Good cut scenes!
On the downside I just couldnt immerse myself in Mod as there is not enough things to do and the romance options were just disatisfying! Woud have liked more choices in that respect!
Gave it an 8 for the work that obviously went into it!

Just wanted to rate and give kudos to RyanC08. I like this mod a lot. Story was ok, could have been better, but characters and dialogues are great. I completed teh mod and it was a great experience. Though i had problems: many objects in mod are white and without textures. No idea why.

Just Reading the Summary Makes me want to Rate a 10 :). so, Here it is!
So far i've gotten on the mod, it is intriguing enough to make me want to play more but i've run into the script bug on melina's date where nothing happens and they just blindly stare into each other and would appreciate some help
Really cute, even though I would have liked more dialog options and a longer romance for Nathan (like the one for Ash). I love the fact that there aren't too many sex scenes and that you have to earn them. They also are romantic rather than pornographic. I really appreciate that. There are some minor issues in this mod (things I would have handled differently), but as I know that's impossible to make a perfect mod and some things are just a matter of taste I give you 9,75.

Love the module so far though having the Melina date script problem. Even tried forcing it to run via console runscript (which took a bit to figure out how to do ha ha) I don't think it's my pc being slow since I have a pc with a terrabyte of hard drive space and atleast 8gb ram. Even tried talking to nathan first no luck sadly. Any help would be appreciated! =]

Nice Debut, very lush and an interesting story, and great cutscenes that move the story along. However I got the feel that by the 3rd Chapter that things were being rushed and a bit choppy, I mean the city is beautiful but just not much going on really. I played a male sorcerer and didn't realize that Marina is the only romance interest available for males. In some ways, I sort of wish there was a bit more battles or diversion towards the end. The whole meeting Tegan's friends quest was sort of tedious and meaningless in a way... guess i like action and that is probably why i liked the 1st chapter and cleaning the castle better. An enjoyable mod and I thank you for your work...

An entertaining module but I agree with Urthok that the characters could have been given more depth. If you were to update this with more fleshed out interactions (i.e.: a bit more room for individual player personality rather than the one mean one nice options currently available in most conversations) and made it a bit longer it would definitely have potential to be a ten :)

Someday I might give it another chance and play again...

I'm giving you an 9 because I respect your hard work, because it probably took a long time to make the module. I also liked the custom portraits, and I didnt find any bug.
If I could ignore the story, I'd give you a 10. But I really didn't like the characters, they were... shallow. Maybe it's just my taste that differs from yours.
Considering all that troubles that you (probbly) had to create this module it would be cruel to give a lower score. But I'd give 7 or less for the story, sorry.
I also didn't find any typos, proving that you took your work seriously.

Very nice, impressive module, that is light and runs at a nice pace(though still a bit too short).
Like Veryan already mentioned a last talk with your romance option(Melina in my case) before the end would be really great(yeah I'm a hopeless romantic :D)
Great work anyway, certainly worth my vote and comment
Cheers :) _________________________ "Life is one long and beautiful song, that is played by Love"
The romance cut-scenes cannot be triggered yet? How can that be, since it has been an issue mentioned since the very beginning?!
Posted by ahhsandra at 2009-09-22 14:36:24 Voted 8.00 on 09/22/09
Thanks for a really nice module. I "only" giving it a 8 because I think it could have been longer. None of the romances would trigger for me but I have to agree with Spidercat on this one. I wanted Tegan to ;)
Keep up the good work!

I really enjoyed playing this module. Since it's dialogue-heavy the writing is very important and I think you did a good job with it (except for the frequent and somewhat annoying "could of"s and "should of"s ;) The youth theme came across very well and I had a lot of fun dating my guy. Still there was one drawback to the dialogues for me, something you see very often in community modules: often you could only choose between kind/good and totally antisocial/evil lines which is kind of flat.
The story and quests were pretty much standard in my opinion with the latter being very straight forward most of the time. Some of your ideas were quite original though (like the mirror quest). The new feats were a nice touch, though as far as I can tell they didn't effect any dialogues which would haven been even better.
*SPOILERS*
Romance-wise it was a bit of letdown that I didn't get the chance to spend more time with Nathan after the first chapter much less getting to marry him as you can Ash. An additional scene with him before the final conclusion would have been nice. And yes, I'm spoilt, I know ;P
*END SPOILERS*
Oh, and I loved the custom portraits you used :)
All in all a really good module. It's great there are still people like you providing us players with new content. Thanks :)
incognitus - If I recall correctly, the piece tylerth1 is an Icewind Dale track. If it is the one in Lord Tylers's mansion, it is the end credits music in IWD.
from were/what did you get the music piece title tylerth1?
Oh yeah, loved hearing "the lonely shepherd" (the kill bill piece) used in the nobles section of the floating city.
custom music (for me anyways) helps move a module from the realms of PacMan to something truly unique.
Will rate a little later I'm replaying with different character classes. _________________________ "Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindbogglingly big it is."

A very good mod by any standard... it's also much bigger than it looks initially and both the story and the characters are well done. It starts as a simple low level mod and I must admit it is not exactly interesting at first... but as soon as this part of the plot is over the whole thing becomes much better. The writing is nice, the way the cutscenes are used is effective and I could find no game stopping bugs. My only complain would be the rather linear structure of the module. It is not really a problem, but sometimes it feels like and adventure game, rather than a RPG... but that was a design decision and it didn't stop me from enjoying the ride... well done, indeed.

I have to say this is a good mod it went by a tad quick and the story line seemed a might choppy. Sorry for being a critic just giving my opinion. Over all it was very good. Catchy. _________________________ Dying's easy Living's hard
