v1.00. A fairly advanced virtual theater for this wonderful game that NWN is, powered by my own scripting language. Plays and poetry for around 350-400 minutes included, most notably Ibsen - An Enemy of the People in five acts (thank gods, it's over) and Synge - Riders to the Sea in one act. So, it's more than a proof of concept (but it's not really a game).
requires:
- NWN 1.69, HotU, SoU
- CEP 2.2
- Community Music Pack CMP at: Link. cmp_1.69.hak at: Link - JenX - CEP 2.0 Various/Kilana Evra at: Link (kil_jenxcep2.hak)
Developed with special emphasis on multiplayer, but I didn't test it at all. Now that the rehearsals are over I release my child in the free. Batteries not included. The Five Flagons would also work for human actors or ds-tl assisted human actors. I can think of little thats not possible here.
Authors desperately needed. The FF is Public Domain hereby as far as I'm concerned. Maybe 2-3 major official releases will follow over the next 1-2 years. One act is possible in two days of work, but I'm clearly not rushing. Besides, you start hearing voices, when you write ds-tl plays as a fulltime job... doesn't mean it's no fun.
The waypoint grid goes from "grid_0_0" (front left) to "grid_29_29" (back right). You find all kinds of strange examples in my brown books. The only basic scripts are just rs1_curtains and rs1_resetarea. Aspiring authors should read the journal entry first, read all docs and watch the "rs1 showcase", the rest is Copy&Paste.
Please report bugs, especially in plays. It's next to impossible to overlook the complete repertoire for possible side effects. But it's rock solid. From the technical side we need to proceed with utter care; the authors should follow the guidelines. I'll keep all changes minimally invasive and downwards compatible. Future content maybe in ERF+HAK expansions, this would sound fine to me and is completely failsafe.
For some background on the short history of this project look at: Link
(optional) DSFE Files. This is the so called dsfe for General MIDI support for the Five Flagons and maybe some future undertakings. This download is completely optional.
thanks for the kind words. not so sure, which kind of items you mean now. If you mean an ongoing play, you can interrupt this as visitor, if you all walk out for a minute (or upstairs/downstairs) - unanimously that is - (he says that, if you bugger him at his console), if you got the masterkey, you may select at the console main->director->skip this play. Mard "The Bard"s (Mard 2) evil brother Mard "Barkeep" (Mard 1) should usually spawn again at his desk when it's over (I certainly HOPE he does). Glad to hear that it works at all ...you never know. I'll write a short journal entry with all this (and put the content of cmp_1.69.hak in my hak, that's right).
Or the fireworks... yeah, that's a bit unfortunate, I can't stop them - I don't want to mess with someone else's systems. If you integrate this in a world (which would be quite an undertaking, say like pulling a ship over a mountain), you'd possibly end up with two versions...
Not so sure what I'll do next, maybe I'll do one more small play (or an NWN2 theater...well, the possibilities...), 1-3 acts max, when I'm in the right mood. Basically, the custom content is the limit. CEP2.2 is so huge now, it's half the real world. The real goal behind it was a solution to sit around at the fire, play chess and hear Mozart. But it's no plan for world domination or something. No, technically spoken its proof how great NWN and NWScript really is, and ds-tl 2 is proof how great NWN2 really is. But if I would start again... as simple as it seems, I'm doing too much stuff already. 90% of this ado came from multiplayer considerations. I've tried to use Bongos Writing System once - which is certainly not bad - , ran into some problems, and well... it just makes no sense. You need the Toolset either way. Not to mention the whole follow-up regarding persistence. I would need a costume tailor... CMP2.3 got an interesting staging device in the making, let's see, how this turns out. It certainly was fun so far. You cannot imagine what accidents happened here over the last six months. _________________________ Five Flagons Inn: Link - ds-tl Theater Scripting Language: Link - dstl NWN2: Link - NWN2 one-click GUI away (except chat-windows): Link - NWN1 small file extensions for SP (and General MIDI): Link - Suggested Naming Conventions: Link - DS Sneaking: Link - DS Base (Pseudo-)Maze: Link

After knowing how to start the plays, they went very well. I can see that this would be fun to add to a Mod. Nicely put together and well thought out. I did play with the Control Panel a bit and some items I couldn't stop, I think that should be an option. And Mard is gone after the first play, so restarting a different play means restarting the Module? At any rate, this is a bit of work, Thank You. _________________________ Does this armor make my butt look big?
oh, hello, um sorry. When you come in, to your right, there's a bookcase. The Barkeeper is this guy Mard in front of it (hope it was not one of this rare cases, 1%, where he's a werewolf). Get a book from there, talk to Mard (click through 2-3 times), and he opens his shop. Give the book to him. Yes, it's right, it's not totally obvious in his dialogue. I'll make this clearer in the next release. _________________________ Five Flagons Inn: Link - ds-tl Theater Scripting Language: Link - dstl NWN2: Link - NWN2 one-click GUI away (except chat-windows): Link - NWN1 small file extensions for SP (and General MIDI): Link - Suggested Naming Conventions: Link - DS Sneaking: Link - DS Base (Pseudo-)Maze: Link

I've placed all the files, but nothing happens, I don't get any plays or poetry readings? I don't get it, I just your norm player, not a wiz module maker type person. How do I run the scripts? You mentioned "copy and paste" well, copy what amd paste where, I got all the files?
This is just really not clear, please explain. *sits down and waits patiently.... _________________________ Does this armor make my butt look big?
The mod won't load for me because it's missing a "cmp_1.69.hak". I downloaded "CMP_hak_169.zip" from the Community Music Project Vault page but it only contains a file named "cmp.hak" and that doesn't help... Any idea what's up with that?
hm... better not attack actorsneutral... Okay, somehow logical. Sooner or later we need a foolproof faction restorer. Book "soundcheck" wrecks the theater and the fabric of the planes for the time being. So, Mard got away with it again. Ongoing research. _________________________ Five Flagons Inn: Link - ds-tl Theater Scripting Language: Link - dstl NWN2: Link - NWN2 one-click GUI away (except chat-windows): Link - NWN1 small file extensions for SP (and General MIDI): Link - Suggested Naming Conventions: Link - DS Sneaking: Link - DS Base (Pseudo-)Maze: Link

FF is proud to present: A Dream under Moonlight by Chaos_Theocrat and When dwarfes stood tall by MurlynLAN.

Exactly 10 minutes after the release I seen a faction war break loose with ah ...friendly actors attacking the audience. I hope, this was just one of this extremely rare hiccups of the game engine. If not, avoid such experimental works like book "soundcheck" and script rs1_forcepeace, if you don't like massacre. Strange and slightly ironical.
