Description
On the seas of dust and silence, where dreams and memories entwine, therein the halls of wordless voices does Fate reveal her grand design. But those who see it cannot speak, and those who speak can never see, and to the doors of human hearts the hand of wisdom holds no key. So rise the armies of emotion, and all our histories rearrange. From northern skies a cloud approaches, aloft upon the winds of change.

This is the third module in the Prophet series, continuing where chapter 1 (Link) left off. You will begin the module on the elven skyship, flying to the desert city of Hierathanum. There, you will meet the mysterious Dream Weavers, who will reveal to you your dark destiny.

I was pretty much ready to cry my eyes out at the end of this. I'm almost afraid to start the third part.

Brilliant work.

I'm just a LITTLE bit torn here... I'm ever so slightly tempted to pull .25 off the top, just for bloody jerkin' me around so bad, but hey- back in my TT days, I always thought something was wrong with a DM unless I couldn't decide whether to kiss or kill him. ;) After finishing this chapter, I think it's more deciding which to do *first*, but to be honest, you probably could have ended this by penguining me and launching me into a slow orbit of a backwater moon of Neptune, and I still would have considered it worth every second. Freaking glorious graphics, and the dialog and narration are absolutely superb, and did I mention the glorious graphics? The chantry... I.. I... never want to leave! But insane eye-candy aside, seriously- the plot is engrossing, and the writing spectacular. I need to stop now, or I'll have to re-use all my superlatives when I'm finished with III.

Well, I played into the city and must have fallen out of the plot. I started the mod again and this time a played through the tomb. Drop my con, cha, dex and wait for some joker in the city? I don't think so.

Thanks anyway.

Better than chapter 1 which was quite an impressive module! The story was excellent and the area design was well done. Looking forward to seeing how things turn out in chapter 3.

Another outstanding mod in the series. However, that was partially offset by a game-breaking bug in the end that brought it to a crashing halt and broke the immersion factor, which was very disappointing. There's a workaround which took me about a half-hour to figure out, so I'll share it below. This is similar to the bug in the previous mod where the henchman fails to run off during a scripted sequence and also breaks the mod, but that was overcome via a simple reload, so it didn't affect play tremendously.

**Spoiler**

In the final area, after speaking with the statue of Fate, according to the walkthrough the servile is supposed to go open the final door...which he never does, regardless of what you do. I replayed the conversation numerous times and the script for the servile never activates automatically or when he is spoken to. The door cannot be opened otherwise through unlocking, bashing, etc. so the player is stuck.

The workaround is to go into debug mode and teleport yourself past the door. Here's the sequence:

~ key

DebugMode 1

dm_jumptopoint 162 44 Thelabyrinthofdreams

DebugMode 0

If you have trouble using the keyboard with the debug mode (I did), you can type the commands in the chat line using ## right before them, i.e. ##DebugMode 0

I'd like to report a problem.

I really enjoyed chapter 1, but when I get to chapter 2, it seems the module "stops." When the airship crashes, the screen goes black ... and nothing happens, despite having waited quite a few minutes, the screen goes black and nothing happens...

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

A completely different setting from Chapter 1, but still a compelling story.

I found bits of the plot to be somewhat rushed considering the consequences of the actions. I also found it confusing in spots.

However, the superb storytelling continues.

Even though, in my opinion, the setting was not as immersing as chapter 1, this mod is still a 10. This is a great story with a depth of character development not seen in many mods.

While this series may surprise, it never disappoints.

Melgraon:

Hmmm, this might be an intermittent bug which I never saw because I didn't test in multiplayer nearly as much as I probably should have...

I know that some have completed it in MP, so the bug should not happen each time. So one option is to re-load a saved game. But first, you could try this: Bring up your "console" by hitting the "~" key and then type "DebugMode 1". Now, hit the "." key to bring up a list of areas. Find the "Skyship", open up its list list then open the list of creatures. Now click on your brother's character's name, and then on the icon in the upper left of your screen which looks like an up arrow (I think it's the third one on the top row). Now click somewhere on the ground near you to jump your brother next to you. If his character is dead, you might need to click the HEAL icon (I forget which it is, but it's also on the same panel). When you're done, hit ~ and type "DebugMode 0".

All of this should work with no problem, but I'm concerned that his screen will remain black. If it does, go into DebugMode again, hit ~ and type "dm_runscript pc_clearfxall" (I'm not sure I had that implemented in chapter 2)... If this still does not work, let me know and I'll see if I can look up a different console command to clear the screen.

Another thing to try is restarting from the last saved game, in case this was a rare fluke. And if it continues to happen, then restart and play just until you wake from the dream but don't exit from the interior of the skyship. Instead, go into DebugMode, click ".", select the area called "Shores of Akkaban" and click the GOTO button (top left). This will take you past the crash scene, letting you continue with a little less drama (and a few more potions in your inventory).

Hope that works.

Thanks again!!

Well, i'm posting here to say i found a problem in the chapter.

I'm playing Chapter II with my brother via LAN. I'm playing the prophet, but he created the server and is responsible for saving and loading the game. When the airship crashes I end up in the shore, and so does my henchman, but my brother's character dies, his screen goes black, and he's nowhere to be found.
Also, when I hover the cursor over his portrait in my screen, the info displayed says he is still on the airship.

We're quite frustrated here, because we enjoyed a lot the playing the chapter I. What can we do?

Thanks in advance.

An amazing chapter in the serie. I think that this is the one chapter that takes the serie in another and greatest dimension, as the prologue and chapter one are good but still creating the stage where the story takes place.
As in the whole serie, scripting, area designing, narration are extraordinary.
I won't developp further, as I have already spoke my mind on chapter three, and all four mods must be taken as one huge and amazing masterpiece of storytelling and roleplaying.

** Spoiler potential from glitch discussion **

I wouldn't spend much effort trying to duplicate my "not dying" issue. I started a second character and teleported him into the museum right from start, did the statues and then went to the academy and this character did die.

I have no idea what happened to my first character. When he goes to the Arena he takes normal damage, but stops at 1 HP...

@ Baldecaran

SPOILERS

The first time I left the plane of air via dying; but even after a reload I still stayed in the "flight" mode after leaving the plane via the portal. Later, I reloaded from an even earlier save (one before I ever entered the plane of air) and that time I never died, and everything seemed to work correctly. So to answer your question, I believe it was the dying part that caused the problem.

Not sure about the plane of death thing. The fact that it worked perfectly twice in a row while in god mode suggests to me that maybe the fact that the PC is taking ability score damage is somehow making them unable to engage in the conversation properly. That's just a guess though. Maybe if it switched to cut-scene mode?

One other bug to report - this one in part two - after capturing the Caliph (making him go into the box) when we left his area, all of the guards in the palace and in the city were "aggressive" towards us; I use quotes because while they were still showing as non-hostile, they'd follow us and attack but never seem to land a hit. I did use the Caliph's voice contraption to convince them that we were under his control before going out, but I guess they didn't buy it :b

The bad thing is, since they were hostile it was impossible to get the gate guys to open the gate between the market and the palace sections.

Hi all, thanks for feedback and bug-finding. The Vault is indeed very slow in updating files; so much so that I think I will take down the temporary chapter 3 file location and use this time to fix these bugs. I'd really prefer it if the most loyal players had a smoother experience through the mod...

As to the bugs - maybe they are related to PRC or something else in the override. But I'll go see. I finally have some more time to work on this again.

snowdog:

No, I was just wondering if you were using debug mode or something. It seems somehow the mod made you immortal so I'll have to track down why.

shuurai:

How did you leave the plane of air? Through the portal normally or by dying and falling from the sky? Either way, I think I just need to add a fail-safe trigger.

BariTony, shuurai:

As for the end conversation with Llarien, I just probably had a logic-hiccup somewhere. I'll look at this now. (Too bad the bug ruined what was supposed to be a poignant moment... Damn!)

SPOILERS

Regarding the plane of death, what I was seeing was the my character would get stuck, and Llarian would stop too far behind to even start a conversation, and that would be it. Tried several times, and this happened every time.

My workaround was to go into god mode; once I did that, the whole thing works perfectly; the conversation starts and completes just fine; Llarian takes the essence and does his thing. Tried twice just to be sure, and it worked both times.

SPOILERS!!!

Baldecaran,

I've gone back and tried the plane of death several times. The glitch with Llarien seems semi-reproducible. I would get one of three effects:
1) Conversation proceeds normally, Llarien leaves without taking the Life Essence, he dies and I end up stuck.
2) Conversation initiates, but doesn't progress after a certain point. The game is stuck in dialogue mode and neither Llarien or I can move.
3) Coversation proceeds normally, Llarien takes the essence of life, and successfully delivers it to the altar.

Could you have more than one script running at this point? They might be getting into a race condition. That might explain why Llarien sometimes runs off before taking the essence.

@Baldecaran

Part three is awesome.

Did run into one annoying bug... after leaving the plane of air, my character and the elf are still "flying" - is there a command to stop that effect?

Ch 3: Arena.

No life essence. Make myself immortal? I did visit the good statues in the Museum. There was something about that, I thought it was metaphorical. I thought it was one resurrection. But I guess that is the issue.

You do end up stuck if you pick the wrong weapons after visiting the museum. You can't be killed and you can't kill.

Posted by Temetappi at 2011-09-21 19:04:23    Voted 9.50
Yeah I did that, and could finish Chapter 2, though the Servile (or something like that) in the "Memories of ancient Herez" I think, not sure I remember the name correctly, did the same thing after leading me to the first room.

I have an idea what might cause this though. I'm using PRC, do you think that could mess it up? I don't think it should, but dunno, that might be it. Anyway. already playing Chapter 3, totally awesome so far! :P

One question. Is Theledassan supposed to drop the key to his private chambers?

Posted by Baldecaran at 2011-09-21 18:47:51
*** SPOILERS - related to chapter 2 ***

Temetappi:

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. That bug has me perplexed and I've never seen it. I'll have to look into the toolset to track down what could possibly have caused both the speaker and Kurathan get stuck like that. Pity that these little extra touches sometimes cause so much trouble...

But for now, do this: Turn on Debug Mode and teleport into the area called "Chantry - The Pit of Souls". Don't worry, it's a small area, without encounters, so you can just jump in anywhere. Then walk up to the pit (you can't miss it) and teleport the speaker close to the crank device that looks like a ship's wheel. Now turn off debug mode and go to the end of the plank and click on the rope. Things should continue fine from there (*crosses fingers*). Let me know if there's still a problem.

*** SPOILERS - related to chapter 3 ***

snowdog:

Thanks for your help - It's much appreciated!!

Dying in the Arena is indeed a way to progress. But I'm not sure why you were stuck at 1hp. Did you make yourself immortal? Did you have the "essence of life" with you?

BariTony:

The bit with Llarien getting stuck has me scratching my head. I'll try to check it out as soon as I have time, maybe this weekend. But I'm glad you liked the mod despite these glitches, and thanks for alerting me to them.

As for uploading the page for chapter 3, I did that on the 16th but the Vault is experiencing technical difficulties. It seems new content is getting added but my page for chapter 3 is still pending. I'll post here when it's up.
