An adventure with heavy roleplay elements for 15th level characters.
-------------
"You were minding your own business, taking a little time off between two world-saving adventures, when suddenly you found yourself snatched away to a wizard's lab. The wizard's name is Melvin, and sure enough, he needs your help. He lost something - a sphere - and wants you to get it back for him.
Sounds like a regular fetch quest, right? There's just one problem: the sphere is sentient and is tearing holes in the fabric of time and space, jumping from one dimension to another. You'll have to follow in its wake, world after world, and hope reality simply doesn't cease to exist before you can reach the sphere."
-------------
*Features*
- Explore different dimensions as you search for the mysterious sphere.
- One very unusual henchman provided.
- Social skills such as Persuade, Bluff and Intimidate are featured heavily during conversations.
- Some class-specific content for rogue and Red dragon disciple characters.
- Over 150 000 words of dialog.
- Your actions have consequences and will often shape the fate of the worlds you visit.
- Light combat; xp is gained by doing quests and using skills.
You are a beer baron who must deliver beer to the clients of your lord and master. For years, your life has been boring and without action but today...that would change forever. Go forth Beer Baron and meet your destiny!
It's a sequel to The Great Escape pack. Beyond The Pale 2 is still in the making.
@Steve_Savicki There are some references to acts of a sexual nature sprinkled throughout the module, and though nothing is ever made explicit, the subject is definitely present. There is also one instance in particular where you can do something quite disturbing to your henchman, which made me choose the Mature rating. _________________________ Madness&Magic, a roleplay module for NWN 1.
I'll definitely participate, it sounds like a great opportunity to build something fun, but not this month. I have too much things on my hands at the moment, as evidenced by the fact that I still haven't updated the module. :/ _________________________ Madness&Magic, a roleplay module for NWN 1.

Madness and Might is an unique mod, with incredible varied locations and a great story to boot. Also the henchman was quite intresting and well made.
Though the only complaint I have is that very few of areas were a bit short or "empty" compared to the other locations.
Either this is an solid that I highly recommend.

i chose the option of
"lore" that say that the prince was married so they cant marry the princess
and i get out of there while they fight
i thought the prince was dead
and later say that the prince marry the princess anyway (am not sure if is bug or he just marry her anyway even if he was already married
but when that end show me that i thought that was a bug, i expected somenthing like he was dead or somenthing else but not marry her anyway ).
Thank you xrominax. :) Can you explain in greater details the bug you got with the elven prince? I'm working on a new and improved version of the module, so it would be good if I could correct that bug. _________________________ Madness&Magic, a roleplay module for NWN 1.

Great mod. Only minor bugs encountered but already mentioned by others. I enjoyed the companion you get. As well as the story line. Thank-you for making the mod.

For what is worth. No crash, no VFX problem, game fluid here (WinXP, P4 3.0Ghz, FX5700).
I'm sorry to hear that, Jedijax. I didn't think adding VFX effects would cause crashes. My own computer is pretty crappy and I've gotten lots of lag in certain areas, but never any crash. (And I've played Le Bâtard de Kosigan, too.)
Like you said, I hope you'll be the only one with this problem. :/ _________________________ Madness&Magic, a roleplay module for NWN 1.
Makes my game crash regularly. I think it is because of all the fancy VFX packed in every area! And no, my rig is not so old as to suffer from this in every module. Only this one, and the Bastard of Kosigan series, which is also known to crash on many a gamer. Made it up to the underwater cave. That was my fourth crash and I was fed up. Just setting a precedent in case it happens to someone else. Best case scenario, it will only be me.
Thanks for your vote and your comments, Khaos1987. I'm working on the walkthrough right now and I plan to release version 1.2 of the module in a month or two. :) _________________________ Madness&Magic, a roleplay module for NWN 1.

I took off a quarter of a point for a few spelling errors that are sprinkled throughout the module, and that's really the only bad thing I can say about it. The companion is unique and memorable, the plot is vastly different than most other modules, there's multiple endings and paths, and the story was interesting and engaging.
In fact, I hope a walkthrough is still in the works so I can see what all I missed and aim for different endings and achievements. There's only a few modules I'd play multiple times, and this one is one of them.
Thank you for the vote CaveGnome! I'm glad you liked my little module. :) Truth be told, it's lacking in combats because I don't like those. (But I've been thinking about adding more fights in the middle to balance the module out...)
What achievement did you get ? If you're curious about the others, you can always crack open the toolset and take a look. ^^
SPOILER
To see what's beyond the doors of the Red god Temple you indeed need to tell the demon you've decided to pay a visit to his summoner. It's a path that potentially yields greater rewards compared to Melvin's, but it's also more difficult.

Finished! That was great! This module made me remember some epic gaming moments in Half-Life and Zork. I liked myriads of things in it (shroom soup, cats, trees, ships...) The story is good and all the different places are very well done. There are some minor quirks and bugs but nothing of importance. Even if it lacks some combats at times (for my taste), it is one of the best module i played in a long time. Thanks for all the time and sweat you invested in this little gem. At the end, i just got 1 achievement on 10, wonder what i missed :)
Spoiler!
Speaking of the Red God Temple, i solved the orphanage the Melvin way. I suppose this choice negates access throu the temple doors because i was unable to open them?
Actually there are two ways you can get an invitation to the ball. One is to get involved with the Thief Guild (their HQ is the Broken Arrow shop) and the other depends on a number of factors (the man one being if enough people have noticed SunChaser at your side). Also getting into the castle is not necessary, you can find another way to advance.
The doors at the temple of the Red god will only open if you've triggered a certain quest and chose to solve it a certain way. Have you been to the orphanage ? :)

Ok! found it... after walking the area for ages. Perhaps the trigger needs to be a bit larger. Could you hint me at how to use the locked doors in the red god temple? Thanks.

Hello, just currently playing M&M (Might&Magic fan here) and having fun. I'm stuck in Winterscale. How do i find the permit needed to enter the castle? Could i have some hint pleaase?
@Sass Drake Wouldn't be an RPG if there was only one ending, would it ? ^^
@Ludolacro I'm glad you're enjoying the module. That's funny, I honestly didn't think so much people would like SunChaser. (As for the zombies, they seem to block quite a few players... but don't forget that your ultimate goal is the sphere. :p) _________________________ Madness&Magic, a roleplay module for NWN 1.

Pretty nice module, the quests are well written and the companion is well thought.
I still haven't finished yet (currently trying to find my way around the zombies) but I can say that it is one of the best module I have played this year. Good work!

Finished. it si really nice you've added option for different endings.
That's alright, the bug with him shouldn't prevent you from going forward.
SPOILER
Look for his corpse near the place where you ended up after the talk with the dryad (should be a placeable on the ground). Just ignore the old version of Revraluen.

^ "but not for me". Sorry for typo.

I've found him, but now I've stucked here:
"Revraluen now correctly behaves after going with him to see the dryad."
but not form me. I've tried loading older save but same thing happens.
It's not a bug. :) You can find Galen Starshine upstairs in one of the rooms (n°10). _________________________ Madness&Magic, a roleplay module for NWN 1.

I've stucked in Golden Duck Inn because I can't fin Starshine. I suppose he should be at southern table which is empty. Am I missing something or it is bug?

No, I have no idea. The cheat accelarates your speed for inifnite time, but in some modules cutscenes just cancel it. I can guess that the cutscene system just don't want PC to move slower/faster then it is scripted to.
Well it seems I have my work cut out for me. ^^ Thanks werelynx. :) Your bug report is really helpful.
SPOILER
The xp drain shouldn't continue, it's supposed to be active only when the PC is standing where tentacles are growing out of the ground.
The ghost in the elven ruins is just there for flavor. I might extend her role in a later version of the module. There is also an optional encounter in the temple if you talked to the three adventurers in the Hairy Mermaid and ordered SunChaser to kill the Bonded boar.
The rod you found must have been left over from a test run, and I forgot to remove it. It can be used in the evil path to revive people you want information from (like the scientists in the first dimension, or Revraluen for example).
SPOILER
I've never heard of the 'mylittlepony' cheat. Any idea how I can set up my cutscenes so they don't cancel it?
