Truly a mixed bag, this one.
Chapters 1 and 2 were very genuine dungeon crawls with a promsie of some intrigue that never really happened. I somehow always exxpected more drow-ish mystery but I always ended up exploring just another area.
Chapter three was overly complicated in my book. The invisible teleporters rank among the "top 3 unnecessarily annoying things I have ever witnessed in a computer-rpg". That was a real letdown.
Where the series really shines is part 4, that one was by far the best of the whole bunch. Allthough the story was as railroaded as in the other chapters the atmosphere was great.
Chapter 5 was ab it of a letdown.
SPOLER
Killing all the NPCs that had been build up over 4 chapters in one single ambush right at the beginning an leaving the player alone felt totally wrong to me
END SPOILER.
It was essentially a very long dungeon crawl. Allthough an interesting one.
I didn't get chapter 6 and gave it up about a third through. I seemed to have managed myself into a situation with no visible means of excape. Something that I find very frustrating after I have already invested a few hours of gameplay.
SPOILER
I took the knights' quest of finding their missing comrade and now I am stuck in the eastern outskirts. All surrounding areas are a dead end and the the only keyword for the teleporter I have leads right to an unkillable wizard. I don't really get why there is a guy that can't be injured further than "Near Death" right next to a teleporter you obviously have to go through, let alone why he attacks you on sight. Is that supposed to make any sense at all?
END SPOILER
I don't mind non-linearity but here it just felt weird. Let alone that chapter 6 seems like an appendix that doesn't have to do anything with the overall story. So I don't really feel motivated to see how it ends.
Some annoying bugs all over the series but in general well done technically. I don't mind the spelling and language. Being german myself I probably noticed only half of the mnistakes anyway.

played all 6 parts and the new one (remastered) for NWN2 and it just great. I recon it is the most interesting campaign I ever played.
Thanks a lot to the author ! I'm sure there are heaps of drows waiting for both chapter 7 and remake for NWN2 :)

I'd have played this years ago, had I realized you can also play the good side.
A bit confusing start, this version doesn't say anything about subrace drow, the older separate versions do. I did a darkskinned subrace drow elf and it seemed to work fine anyway.
The first five parts were pretty linear, while the sixth was even confusingly open-ended. There was nice amount of roleplaying here and there, but also forced uncharacteristic decisions and comments.
Almost through the series, there was an abundance of magic items availlable, but limited opportunities to cash them in. Towards the end, the amount of loot tossed my way started to get tiresome. Now I'm all for the basic idea of getting all the gear the opponents use, but does it make sense for every zhent footsoldier to have 500K worth of gear on them??
Anyway, there were two things I see as major problems.
1. Giving the option to fight the wizard, and then making him unkillable, only going "near death". Without that cheat, I'd have winned him and the rest of them too. Just dont give the option to turn if you have the plot on railroad.
2. Zhent faction turning hostile at one point is more a bug than design. It makes absolutely no sense for me to enter a zhent bar, to see zhents attacking barmaids and prostitutes belonging to "green" faction.
Anyway, there was a story there and it was a good memorable one. The companions and other characters didn't blabber all too much, but made a clear impression anyway. They seemed real, which made all the difference.
There was a continuation gap between parts 5 and 6. At the end of 5, I had Lomir with me, at the beginning of 6 I was alone and had supposedly abandoned him somewhere and apparently "the truth" while questioned about it, was I was the only survivor, even if lomir turned out to be alive after all.
Seemed to me, roleplay was more "medium" than tricks&traps, which were around every other corner... suiting me fine as I collected them for further use, hack&slash was definitely heavy. Rogue/Fighter/Shadowdancer seemed a real good fit to for the storyline and gameplay.
That human merc henchie mast be real pleased now. :) He was with me for the last hour of gameplay and ended up somewhere with the supersword and maybe 500K's worth of other gear (I already had two +10 light weapons better suited for finesse fighter).

realy great mod - I like being evil in games.
There are still some bugs - some dialogs should be changed, because if outcome of this in an attack on important plot characters you can't kill them.
I don`t know about chapters 4, 5 and 6 but in the first three chapters I didn`t find even ONE longbow, NOT ONE! Not to mention arrows, I find 20 arrows every level or so...wtf that was just annoying, I can`t make an Arcane Archer with a damn Crossbow... The rest is OK, I just hope the last 3 chapters are better equipped. _________________________ Needles in the eyes!

kenzeitak,
Are your weapons drawn?
The beholder works fine for me. He will go hostile if you draw your weapons. _________________________ My shoes are too tight and I have forgotten how to dance.

Nice series of mods from the standpoint of a drow. First few mods were very linear. Gets better as the series goes on, with mod 5 and 6 the best.
The dungeon crawl in part 5 was very fun; Part 6 had some great visuals.
Nice use of the Forgotten Realms setting, with the exception of some continuity errors.
Combat was reasonably challenging, overall well balanced.
RP was OK; nice to have different paths for different alignments, but some of the convos, in part 6, railroad the char, from a RP standpoint.
Puzzles, I did not like, but then, I usually don't like puzzles. _________________________ My shoes are too tight and I have forgotten how to dance.
In module 3 according to the Walkthrough I'm supposed to be able to barter with the beholder called Hanxam.
He is hostile all the time for me so I don't really get it. Must be a bug?

Bent Coin,
the Haks you're missing are from CEP 1.5x. Download CEP 1.5x, put the files in your HAK directory. _________________________ My shoes are too tight and I have forgotten how to dance.
I tried opening the module with the tool set and got the error that the module needed the above 3 hacks ceptexture.hak, cepbaseitem.hak, cepanatomy.hak. did the author forget to add to the model? and if he did how would i go about adding them if I can't open his model with toolset?

This is the overall ranking for the series (chapters 1-6).
One big weakness is the lack of class & gender diffences (meaning: all classes & both gender have the same textes and quests).
Good maps, especially from an esthetic point of view. Fights overall balanced (though I cannot say this of the dungeon in chapter 5, as I did not play it - so far), there's always a way to win, even if you have to find it ...
I recommend it, have a look at it.

just a problem at the transition from part 5 to 6. My theory is that CEP 2 may not be compatible with part 6. i believe that the final version of part 6 was made available ahead of the release of CEP 2. anyway, i give it a 10.

This module, while fun to play, was pretty much a mixed bag. The drow storyline was beautifully implemented, but the scripting at times could use a bit of polish. Great story overall, but I just couldn't quite give it the 9.0 I would have liked. If the scripting were polished, I'd easily give it a 9.75. Unfortunately the mechanics fell well behind what the story and the module as a whole deserved. _________________________ Regards,

I like this mod. It's very atmospheric and it is a good fit for a Rogue/Wiz/Pale Master. I need a walkthrough for it though. The svirfneblin levers I can figure out but the teleport in the dungeon I can't figure out. Can anyone point me to the walkthrough.
Okay I've finished the first chapter in the series..at least I guess! After I talked to Piwiewie, and was supposed to lead her to the chalash place,I choose the option to (Stare at her for a long while as she walks away) and the screen goes black and I find myself talking to the sage again like I did at the start of the mod,and sure enough the whole mod started over again instead of going to the next one.I also encountered some problems with the quests and journal entrys,my journal would updated, even though I did not talk to the the drow priestess to get the quests,so I got confused a few times as to what was going on,I will probably export my character and then go on in to chapter 2.Hopeful it will run a little smoother.

The first 5 parts of this Mod were great and they were playable due to the wonderful walkthru, but part 6 was a bear. Part 6 needs a walkthru and would have been even better if just left to the hunt for the 7 parts of the sword.
Worth playing part 6 again without and henchmen and if this mod is ever gets reworked please leave some room to sneak by the white dragon.
The CEP caused a lot of problems with this mod, get rid of it!

Ok, I've done it :D I just opened chapter 4 with the nwntool, and in the visions scene I gave the Loth a typical body of a drow priestess, cause I couldn't find any other :P The same was with the next scene in the great hall with the Piwievienn (or sth like that :P). I checked the rest of the places and it looked all right :D So I can finally rate and play the game :D Thx again and sorry for my English :P hehe

I've got the same problem as Eddie... I just, no matter what, can't load the chapter 4. It just blocks while loading the strange visions... I think I tried everything... Is there someone who managed to beat this?
PS: I really enjoy this serie but... ehh I need to know how the story goes on! :D Please, tell me that you know how to repair it :D

Wayne,
I also would like to see some tweaking of chapter 6, since I do not have a walk through. I am confused about helping the good guys and being attacked by the "Z" guys. I am Drow, and where is the Spider Queen, Ooops! here she is, sorry. Thank god for the powerstones, they make traveling a little easier. Right now I am looking for a lost girl and I have no clue where to start, so I'll keep stumbling along. BTW, thanks for bring back Deekin, I love that little guy.
As low as the chance of another update are, I'd still like to see one. Particularly I'd like to play this with the PRC as a *true* Drow, not just a black skinned Elf, but there seem to be measures in place currently that prevent me to do so. At one point in the series Lolth simply came down and killed me outright. I strongly suspect that this was due to my race saying Drow and not Elf.
Wayne, I've gotten to the outpost and have run into the EXACT problem that robert_t_walker has. Any chance of a fix for this?? It would really be nice since I'd like to finish this. _________________________ We are all born ignorant, but one must work to remain ignorant.
