This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 8 that made this score of 8.75 then rounded to 9.

Hello, I was able to download the first 2 tutorials, but I'm having trouble with the third. An error message pops up saying it's either invalid or corrupt.

Forelan,
As I went on through the tutorials (like you mentioned) I see your point. You have to crawl before you can walk and run.
By the way, I got stuck on lesson 4. I guess I am destined to be a script dummy. Lukly, we have Lilac Soul's Script generator and all those scripts here on the vault. I am so thankful that other people share their work to help those less fortunite.
Any, thanks for the respones.

Hey Doc - I'm going through the tutorials myself, thought I'd give building a module a try and the tutorials on this site looked like a great place to start.
I remember when I was being tought to program. The way my teacher would introduce new ways to do things would be to have us modify a program we already knew and understood, to use the new process(es).
An example would be:
Old Way
Walking from point A to point B
New Way
Taking the bus from point A to point B
If the distance is only 2 blocks it would probably take longer to use the bus, but at least we now know how to use the bus if we ever had to go further.
In this case, yes going through all the scrpting to get the dog's name into the dialog seems really like overkill, but it wont always be the case once the scripts get larger and more complex. Useing this example though gave us a small, simple way to see how its done that we can look back on if the concept gets cloudy and we need a refresher.
I'm not actually sure if that was the purpose behind the example, but thats what it looked like to me. Hope I didn't just confuse you more ;)
On another note though - Great lessons ! I've seem to have gotten myself stuck on lesson 6 though - I'm going to go through it again before I post my question on that board, incase i've done something silly (not impossible with me at the keyboard, heh)

Do you know I wasted $20 on the Verses World Builder book? Yeah, $20 and all I had to do is come here and download your lessons. I could have bought something I really needed.
I am enjoying your lessons and I love the video format you have done them in. That is why I download your tutorials on building modules.
Anyway, I have a question. I understand what a string is now but could you give more examples of where and how we can use them?
Also, why (other than to show us what a string does) did you use a custom token to put a dogs name for an NPC's converstation when you could have written the name in the NPC's conversation (this is not a critizism of what you did but a genuine question)?
Now off to lesson 4 :)
