Intro movie to Parthenon 4: Opening Moves. Extract to your nwn\movies directory to have it play when the module starts. *NOTE: You don't need this file to play. If you don't get it, the movie won't play, of course, but the module will still work*

Actually, I just got finished studying copyright, trademark, and patent laws. You do indeed have to send in a form to the government, as well as a standard fee, to copyright something. The statement someone made about as soon as something is created, it is copyrighted by the author, only applies in the UK, as they have something along the lines of Creative Author Rights. So no, government copyrights do in fact matter, and are the -only- form of protection that counts. Even the 'poor man's copyright' is useless in court these days (mailing yourself your own work, just for the post office stamp with the date on it), since as soon as it is opened, it is no longer legally binding. Just so you know...

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 1 that made this score of 4 then rounded to 4.

hmmm ... y'all should not give up your day jobs for patent law (the branch that covers this stuff). Actually the old "print rule" is that anything published with over 100 circulation has automatic protection under the publisher's copyright (this is why even the author has to seek permission from the publisher, and why you see "previously published in ..." and "reprinted by permission" notices in collections of short stories). Online copyright (and the attendant responsibilities) devolve to the poster. In any case, intellectual property is still evolving in the courts, but normally, whoever bears the responsibility for such things as defamation would also have the benefits of copyright. This comes from the terms of service contracts agreed to (explicitly or implicitly) by the poster, and as long as the agreement is not illegal, the contract takes precedence over common law.
Regardless, the only copyright mark I see on these pages is the one from the developer of the board "1998, by Andrew Cantino"

Perhaps I figured it out:
You're talking about the [email protected]?
That's the E-Mail I set up for the campaign. Maybe due to
font differences, you're seeing the 'at' as a little
copyright symbol. I know it looks a loke like one in some
fonts.
I don't think I've pasted a copyright symbol onto anything
I've done, nor would I copyright, and sign over the rights
to my ISP for no reason :)

I... copyright my posts?
*looks confused*

Actually Teiwaz it can't hurt to post something as
copyrighted but in fact works are automatically
copyrighted by the person who created them. It's a common
misconception that a person has to somehow "register" a
copyright for them to have an ownership interest. All
the "c" sybol does is provide you with an extra layer of
protection but as long as you can document that you are
the creator of the work you're pretty much set. If
somebody lifts something from what you did and you can
prove it's exactly the same and it has some creative value
you can sue the pants off them. By the way I really enjoy
the movies - sets the tone nicely. Just started Parth4 and
it looks like a doozy...

Okay,
I have a question for Teiwaz...
Why do you copyright your posts? No one's going to copy
them -- even if they did...what's copyrighted?
I could understand if you named your mod and said it was
copyrighted by you.
Besides, just putting the copyright symbol on something
doesn't make it copyrighted. If you want to get a real
copyright you need to contact the Library of Congress and
go about getting one. Only what's registered with them is
really copyrighted.
Through them, you can garner TM (trademark), R (registered
trademark) or C (copyright) for your material.
Thanks,
Chokra Broodslayer

Yes, I know, Parthenon 4 isn't actually out yet :P
It's in the final stages of Multiplayer difficulty testing,
and should be ready in the next day or two.
