~The Shardstaff
Intro Movie (In module/cutscene format) for Hugie's NWN2 Project
Note that I'm currently editing the plot, so while this is a cool movie as it is, it's not completely accurate in its depiction of what the actual background of my NWN2 project will actually be. Updated movie coming soon. (6/24/06)
One of Lynncairs most well-known legends is that of Nabul Gyrazzi, Hazumar Falarim, and the Shardstaff. It is said that Gyrazzi, an archmage and a specialist at the enchantment of artifacts of power, poured his soul into the creation of an item he called the Shardstaff--in the process, he imbued it with power beyond imagination. The Shardstaff was said to be able to call forth lightning from the heavens, conjure blizzards of biting cold, and invoke swarms of meteors to burn ones foes to cinders--it was Gyrazzis greatest creation, and his last.
The story goes that upon completing the Shardstaff, Gyrazzi, weak after his great exertion, collapsed to the floor in exhaustion. It is said that Hazumar Falarim, Gyrazzis apprentice at the time, entered his masters study and murdered Gyrazzi while he was weakened and vulnerable--Hazumar took the Shardstaff, and was never heard from again.
Legend has it that Hazumar lives still, sustained by the powers of the Shardstaff--some say that he resides in the maze-like caves beneath the forbidding Amon-Dur Mountains, while others believe that he lives somewhere inside of the Desert of Ash--some go so far as to hypothesize that Hazumar fled to another plane of existence, where he could pursue his magical studies undisturbed.
One thing is certain; not a single reliable clue, hint or sign has been found that sheds any light on the mystery of what happened to Hazumar or the legendary Shardstaff...Until now.
Any questions or comments should be directed to or posted on this page. Hope you enjoy!

Absolutely BRILLIANT....AMAZING!
I really love your cutscene of the Shard Staff there!
Can't wait to see what surprises you have in store for us players with NWN 2!
This sounds great. unfortunately, I'm still in the process of doing my yearly re-format, so I have to use my mother's laptop to post this, and cannot use NWN1 until windows is re-installed.
just one question: are you finished with class-based modules? NWN2's warlock class puts up some nice possibilities for a module's story, or server's RP stuff. one example: your character starts off at lvl one, as a warlock, you select a demon/devil to gain power from, and at one point in the story, try to kill him/her. when you kill said demon/devil, you gain 3 levels, and have your alignment changed to CG, and can continue to another module.
if you haven't noticed, the most exiting part of NWN2 for me is the class options, subraces, and such. mainly the warlock class.
oh, and last, I'll be working on my "NWN2 Dramatic, Generic boss prefabs and mod". I'll mainly be making final boss templates with a CR of 20-30. anything above CR 22 is for campaigns with powerful loot given out from previous bosses. also, you can get very powerful equipment sets from CR 25-30 bosses. CR 25-30 bosses will be based off of gods, and Asmodus.
I'm looking for advice on how to create some very difficult, smart, rewarding boss fights. you seem to have a good idea of how to do that, so I added the bossmod info into this post.
keep up the good work!

Megadeth has a very intelligent way of talking about governments and religions: Either they bullshit you or try to kill you for not being one of them. I wholeheartedly agree.
(Note: Just because Mustaine is christian doesn't mean he believes EVERYTHING the bible tells him.)

:D I was going for a double-inductment, but Wheel of Time - Dragonmount fell short by 1 vote...I was pretty bummed. :P But still, yeah, it's cool! :) Now I've got 3 HoF items, hopefull 5 soon (WoT & AoD)...
Can anyone help me? When I try to play this, I pick my char and appear in a room with some sweet music playing.. then nothing happens, except I can run around really slow.
Any ideas? really want to watch it :/

Still can't wait for NWN2 and the Shardstaff to come out. I'll watch the updated one and still will keep anticipating the two! _________________________ Look at me. I'm special.
Aye, but keep in mind the bold notice in the description; while the Shardstaff will be involved, the actual plot of the module is different from what I made the movie about... (changed my mind, you see)... _________________________ [My (Important) Submissions][My Website: Link]

Excellent job! A model for those of us still trying to figure it all out to follow. This certainly proves the validity of cutscenes ove intro movies. When a cutscene looks this good and works this well, it makes you second quess, Why do I want an Intro Movie?". _________________________ Link
