The Community Tileset Pack team would like to present you with the full Adventures of Jerl Silvershield.
Ever want an actual story to read when pulling a book off the shelf? This one is perfect for that.
Non-plot specific, adventure series of books.
This .erf and associated documents, contain two versions of the complete series as orginally seen on our weekly news.
A very Special and VERY LARGE thank you goes to the West Sea Guild for their efforts of love and devotion.
Two copies of the .erf are included, one that requires CEP and one that works either with or without CEP.
The CEP version, includes different book covers, while the NON - CEP version uses the simple rotted, green leather book cover from original Bioware content.
This archive also includes all the books as individual documents, should you wish to create seperate entities of these books for placement in your mod.
Contents:
CTP_BookCase.erf << -- This one uses CEP content
CTP_Books_NonCEP.erf << -- This one does NOT use CEP content
documents\*.doc, one big document containing all the books in one file, and 39 other documents, one for each book in the series. THESE ARE NOT IMPORTED into the game and would have to be edited/copied into individual books if you so desire.
Note: The copywrite included with these files is to protect the writers. What the copywrite notice means, is that you MAY use these books in ANY PW or MOD created with NWN toolset. You may NOT copy these for use in some other game like Star Wars or Dragon Online or whatever.
03-07-06 - Updated by adding one new book, this book, in a seperate .erf is compatable with either of the two releases in the archive. The books is a brief or simple Introduction to the story of Jerl Silvershield. -- As requested by alklau.
Thanks for the suggestion, it was a great idea!

WOW Raven - has it really bee less than a year since we released the books? *shakes her head and smiles* Thank you for your kind words and vote, you gave us writers a lot of pleasure with your screenshots of each instalment, and in some memorable cases *grins* brought our words literally to life!
While this submission has not had massive downloads, I have had the pleasure of seeing our work placed in at least two modules. :) _________________________ QSW -NWVault Reviewers Forum

QSW,
Thank you for posting this, and thanks for all the excellent work you and your Writers Guild did to make NWN1 such a wonderfully remembered experience. I truely enjoyed bringing your stories to life through the tilesets of the CTP. I hope to someday read the full story of Fey Pocketsfull and his wonderful adventures!

*Blinks* Gosh than you Mungo_D and Aessinus for your kind words and extremely generous votes! The team will be happy to know that the books are/have been read. At some point before the year is out I would like to go over all the instalment texts and make all the spelling a uniform USA English. As you can imagine, we had writers from USA, UK & Canada, and we all speak/write English differently. Plus I happen to know there is an 'easter egg' if you like in one of the instalments that should not be there...*grins* I wonder if anyone has picked up on it yet? _________________________ QSW -NWVault Reviewers Forum

Can't believe I haven't voted for this yet. As soon as I saw this when released it was downloaded and put in my mod, and both my girlfriend and I loved stopping to read the story - Read a chapter during testing each time I made it to the 'reading room' I set up just for the books. They deserved their own library!
Congrats on a great piece of teamwork.

OOPS! Shouldn't have tried to read all of it at work!
The score is for the 1st half or so alone. I can't wait to see this included in one of the new summer '06 mods.

QSW, perhaps I will write something that builders can put in their modules, but my writing expertise is more technical than creative right now. If I get inspired, perhaps...
When I looked at the books in the toolset, I did expect to see different covers because it did say so in the description: "]The CEP version, includes different book covers..." That's why I was wondering. You may want to change the description a bit to reflect that, but then it's really a minor issue.
Oh, and that introduction is a nice addition!

@alklau: I haven't read the entire story yet, but I like the idea. What would make this more useful perhaps is if you had one book that is essentially a summary of the story, like the majority of "books" that are in NWN.
One other thing I noticed is that the CEP books all had the same cover. Weren't they supposed to all have different covers, or was I mistaken?
Still, good job with this! It's something I could consider doing myself since I'm not a builder by any means.
Hi there -
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to comment and vote, most appreciated!
A summary or Introduction to the story might well be a good idea, I will work on that and update the submission :) As for the CEP book covers, yes they are all the same, that was the intention; since they are a 'set' of books.
You should indeed have a go at writing a story and putting them into book form, books are one of the things NWN has lacked; with only builders sometimes putting a 'history' of their world into book form on occasion. This story was written over a 8 month period for the CTP, the idea being that the tilesets they are working on could be 'shown' off within a story. Each week an installment would go up, together with a few screenshots and people could look and read each week the development of the story. A couple of CTP members liked the story so much that they suggested it be put into NWN books and submitted to the Vault; for Mod & PW builders to incorporate into their worlds so that their players had something other than the standard 'boring' NWN books to read. The more reading material for NWN the better I say, So I hope that you do decide to write your own, let us know when it's up and I shall be one of the first to D/L !

Granted, I am a CTP Member, but I had no part is WRITING this wonderful work.
I so much enjoyed waiting each week for the next installment that when I was told by the writing team that they had completed the work ahead of time, I explained that I could not allow myself to 'peak' to see the ending.
I waited, each week, for the next installment, and I can honestly say that each week I was pleased with what was released.
This is on masterful compilation! I will be adding it to every mod that I build from now on.
Finally, SOMETHING better to read!

I really don't know what to say, right or wrong this person voted, as he has every right to do. Yes, I agree, he voted on the copyright, and not the quality of the work. Does this fact make it a troll vote? Probably. Will it affect people's perception of the quality of our work? Undoubtedly. But I have faith that most of the community who take an interest will view the voting stats and see exactly why that vote was made. Then they can make an informed choice as to D/L or not.
I personally am not going to bother the Vault management with this issue. It would have been nice to see how far 'up the list' this work could have gone, but if the D/L numbers rise significantly, I think that shows just how much it is liked. *Grins* We spent over 8 months writing this work, we had a LOT of fun, I'm not going to let one single vote take that away from me *winks*
Just downloaded the package, going to read the whole adventure as soon as I find the time, and in the meanwhile I'll be adding it to the module I am working on.
I won't be voting though. Recently I seemed to have overcome an old dislike I had for the voting system of these forums, but this thread just revived it big time.
What I question is the validity and the sense of a system that allows plain stupidity to affect both positivelly and negativelly the average vote for a custom content package.
What about that "1" cast on this package as a vote? A person who didn't even understood the terms of use of this material, voted out of misled frustration, but at the same time will be preventing this fine package to reach high ranks in the quality chart, while we all know very well that often the material that gets high scores and even make it in the Hall of Fame is of poor quality.
What this place would need is a voting system that is based not on the custom content author credit, but on the -voter- credits and credibility. It's just annoying that everyone without any clue about the quality of the custom content can so heavily affect the public outcome of the packages they vote for.
I miss my weekly fix QSW. I put together the CTP front page of Jerl's adventures every Friday for the site. The experience changed weekly and the story took some very interesting turns. I thank you for the good read, and mixing of styles between writers. I am so pleased that the CTP / West Sea Writers partnership went so well.
Thank YOU!

Having read the story, more a less, as it was written, I'm not entirely sure what to say. "Stick a bunch of writers in a room, give 'em some maps to use, and see what happens" The end result is a pretty good overall read, that brings to mind the adventure's of day's past. _________________________ Itinerant Admin: RPGModding.com - Where Modders Muster.

Geeze People, the copywrite states that you can't print the thing or use it in anything OTHER than a pw/mod for NWN.
That means that you can have this in ANY mod you create for nwn, but can't use it for Starforce or to print a copy for sale etc... standard copywrite.
Posted by QSW at 2006-02-07 11:07:54 Voted 9.00 on 02/07/06
@bashnako the copy right is there to protect us the writers, so that another person does not go off and claim this work as their own. It is clearly stated that:
The entirety may NOT be reprinted or used in other forms, except as
portions of a PW/Module using NWN/Aurora Toolset with CTP.
This means that you have the freedom to use this story within the NWN game. Since this IS a CTP release of our work, it is therefore acceptable to use this story in your PW/Mod without violating the copy right.
I hope this clears things up for you, it is my fondest hope that others will be able to use our work to further enhance their worlds. I thank you for your vote, and hope that you will find a use for such writing. _________________________ QSW -NWVault Reviewers Forum

I'd love to give it a 10...but my vote is for the other writers, Vkaryl, Iak Kereshna & Merlinious, without whom this story would never have been written. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for being a great team who gave over 8 months of their creative time to this project. _________________________ QSW -NWVault Reviewers Forum

Thanks lord R *grins* Special thanks also to Raven280 CTP member who first suggested to us writers many months ago to put the story in book form. So you see, both you Lord R and Raven280 have excellent ideas! _________________________ QSW -NWVault Reviewers Forum
Finally it happened :)
I remember asking over the CTP* forums our dear QSW** to get Jerl's adventure books as in-game resources to deepen the background of roleplay worlds.
