Quick & Dirty SSF Editor
------------------------
By FrikaC
This program will allow you to create or edit .ssf files from NeverWinter
Nights. It's overall design is based around "SSF Editor Alpha" by
DDraigcymraeg, but it eliminates many of the problems of that editor. I used
none of his code, since that program was written in Java and I don't do Java.
Q&D SSF Editor is written in Pure C Windows API as such, it doesn't require
you to have Java, MFC, the .NET framework or any other such annoyances. If you
have Windows 95 or later, you have all that you need.
A .ssf file, for the uninitiated, defines what sound files are used in a given
voiceset. The soundset.2darefers to the file name of the .ssf in it's RESREF
column.
The .ssf file contains STRREFs to a TLK file, and RESREFS that define the wav
files to be played on each of a set of 49 events.
I am running SSF Editor under Win XP, SP 2. This program works fine while contructing the soundset file, including the preview wavs playing without issues. But the soundsets never work when merged into the game, even if a default BioWare soundset is edited as a template. NWN Explorer also crashes when an attempt is made to open any soundset file generated by this program, and SSF Editor itself crashes frequently when saving an .ssf file that it just created. Is anyone else out there having similar problems? _________________________ Realms Of Destiny PW
