Title  Lilith: In-game explorer for single-player modules
Author  Wu
Submitted / Updated  02-26-2008 / 09-14-2009
Category  Other
Format  Other
Description
This is a set of override files that allows a player to edit objects while playing a single-player game.

Properties that can be customised via Lilith include:
* Module properties (e.g. MaxHenchmen, ModuleXP, Advance game time/date, Weather, music...)
* Item properties (e.g. flags, item properties, appearances...)
* Creature properties (e.g. Henchmen level up, PC levelling, behaviours, actions, effects, appearances, models, factions, reputations...)
* Door/Placeable/Trap properties
* Store properties (autodetects stores, open standard Bioware stores, set appraise scores etc)
* Inventory
* Private stash & Global Cache
* Object Searching (by Tag/Name/Type)
* Editing local variables on objects
* Object manager (saving/loading/jumping to objects/locations, auto-saves all areas visited, set object destroyable properties so even unraiseable corpses can be raised...)
* Both dialog and commandline (chat commands) interfaces can be used

Installation instructions: Extract Lilith.rar. Copy the files inside the override folder into your Neverwinter Nights override folder. Start any new game or load any save game, and you will receive Lilith in your inventory.
Right click on Lilith and select Talk To - a dialog should then pop up. Choose the menu item Help for more info. The other dialog items should be self explanatory.

Some useful functions:
- Teleport to areas that you've visited before (object/location manager dialog item -> jump to area in history dialog item)
- Re-level current level, immediate level up (under creature properties)
- Detect all traps (under search area dialog item, also available as the shout command "find traps")
- Open any store in any of the area you've visited and the standard Bioware store anywhere (use Talk To and select stores)

* History
* 2008/03/16: minor fixes, event objects added, changed creature history to save objects that player spoke to

* 2009/09/14: To Saduj (sorry for the late reply!): I don't think I can convert it to the Chat Channel Monitoring Scripts in v1.69 because the OnPlayerChat event handler requires a script to be specified as part of the Module properties in the actual module by the module builder. There is no default OnPlayerChat handler that I can override.

BTW: Does anyone know if there is a default heartbeat script for the Player Character in Neverwinter Nights 2? Default.NCS doesn't seem to work in NWN2 any more.

Place this in the override directory if you find a shadow blocking your path / combat actions.

This is the file to download for NWN/SOU/HOTU v1.69. If you still use v1.68 then please download Lilith.rar instead. Installation is the same as Lilith.rar

Place this in the override directory if you find an invisible placeable blocking your path / combat actions. Note that this override will make all invisible placeables so small that they become non-clickable! For example, you won't be able to click on the Jump Spot in Blackwall Keep if you use this override!

Source code for Lilith. Rather messy and full of strange logic. Please don't download unless you are really really interested. Please don't ask me to explain how it works because I can't remember.

Fabulous utility- but can cause problems with some modules' own listener scripts.

Amazingly useful. I would never go back to regular NWN after this! The kind of contribution that makes one behold the greatness of this community! Long live NWN!! (Not 2, just the first one... Never liked the sequel).

Another bug I've noticed is when creating objects. I set 1 type of object and the object-type-selection-screen gets updated, but the create-object screen doesn't. I also doesn't seem to be getting the resref right, or at least if I enter a new tag the resref gets cleared. Would be really handy for testing item scripts.
Anyways, what's most impressive is the dynamic dialog. I've downloaded the zz-dialog which works in a similar fashion but somehow you managed to make it in a cleaner way. Mind explaining/making a tut on it? Thx.

Amazing stuff. It has some bugs (like getting faction info) but it's just amazing so it's a 10.

Alright, managed to find out why Lilith doesn't work with v1.69 so I've uploaded a version (Lilith.7z) that can work with v1.69.

I've kept the older version (Lilith.rar) because my hard disk failed earlier this year and I'm not sure if the version I retrieved is quite the best version.

Oh, for those who wanted to know what was wrong, BeginConversation() seems to work differently in v1.69 so the dialog wouldn't appear now. In anycase I replaced BeginConversation() with ActionStartConversation() so now it seems to work okay.

Many thanks for your help! Don't know how the virus got into Tub. Many apologies.

I will try to update Lilith, although I don't think it is possible at the moment (major exam coming up). In any case, I will try to find the source code and upload it so at least other people can update it if they are interested....

As it stands now though, Lilith does not work with v1.69. Many apologies.

Update, Maximus (Admin) checked and replaced TUB entry, so is now safe to DL :)

Very Cool idea! Any plans to convert to the new Chat Channel Monitoring Scripts with 1.69?

As I haven't encountered the problem of being blocked myself, it is difficult to test if my solution is correct.

In any case, I thought perhaps the invisible stash can block the player's path as well, so I have made a nul model for it as well. Try it also if the player's path gets blocked. Good luck!

Posted by whuetsi at 2008-03-14 12:52:03
Okay, I think I have found a solution.

I have now made a null model to override the original invisible human model, so now even if the effects are not applied, it should be impossible to even accidentally select or bump into the listener.

Not sure how this will affect other modules that use the invisible human model though. Good luck!

Posted by whuetsi at 2008-03-11 12:39:08
The other problem with the game engine not applying the effects timeously is that it is possible to accidentally click on the listener (nothing will happen, but it will probably cancel your attack queue). There is currently no work around, unless one get a faster computer (I suspect that the timeousness of the effects is related to the amount of CPU power available).

Posted by whuetsi at 2008-03-11 12:18:05
Many thanks for the comment!

The shadow is due to the listener, which is used for the Chat commands. Now the listener has to follow the player around so that it can hear the chat commands. Currently it is invisible, ethereal, and GHOSTLY (meaning that things should pass through it).

I have noticed that the Neverwinter Night engine does not always apply the Ghost (and other) effects timeously (such that pressing Tab repeatedly during game play will show the Listener's name). That is probably the root of the problem.

I will post a work around to try place the Listener above the player's head (rather than next to the player). Hope it helps!

You're welcome!!

I *did* find one thing that was quite annoying during play. Lilith... or rather her shadow was constantly obstructing my movements. IF you ever decide on an update, see if you can remove that annoyance (wrecked hell with some combat situations in one of the modules I was playing.)

My vote is straightforward in that the 8.75 was for 1. Your effort in building this, 2. Some of the features/functions it had. 3. Even though the documentation was sparse, what I did, after going back, find was adequate.

Thanks again!

Thanks for your comment! There is some documentation both in game and outside. Apologies for its sparseness though. However, for the amount of interest it seemed to be generating (which is very little) I will not be wasting my time detailing every function, as there are many. Nevertheless, I am happy to answer question on any specific function. Please feel free to ask ;)

No a bad piece of work! Would have liked to seen some documentation to use it. But what I HAVE seen is nice.
