So, you want to make Custom Cotnent?
You're working on a module and need something special that hasn't been done before?
You have a great idea you want to make real?
You just like being creative?
Search no longer! Here I've put together all the tools and documentations you need. Actually, there are much more, but these are the essentials. If you have them, you can start doing your own content right away.
I hope this is not a copyright issue - I don't claim autohorship of any of these, I just put togehter this package for your convience.
Includes -
Tools:
Gmax - the 3d editor you need to make models (it's actually a slimmed-down freeware version of 3D Studio max, so if you already own the full version, you should use the latter).
NWmax - The script you need to import/export Neverwinter model files (.mdl) in 3DSmax or Gmax.
NWexplorer - to view and extract models, textures and other data from Neverwinter.
Jlen SetEditor - a very convient tool to edit the .set file when you make tilesets.
References:
Custom content Guide v3 - The bible of CC making. Here you learn how to do literally everything.
nwmax docu - The documentatin of NWmax (see above), including a nice tutorial for making robes.
TileSetConstruction - an original Bioware guide to Tileset making, which is not covered in the CC guide.
Lexicon - a comprehensive documentation of the NW scripting language.
2DA - an excel table explaining all the NW .2da data files.
Links - here I put together some links to references that are only available online, so I couldn't include them into the download package.
Enjoy
If you liked this, have a look on my other CC:

As Gmax takes more than half of the filesize, I give this version without Gmax, so people who already own it (or 3D studio max) can save download time.
Thanks for sharing, this will save me a lot of searching time.

Very useful thank you very much! NWExplorer is my favorite since I can open scripts that are in .erf before I include them in my modules. Giving you a 10

To Bene: Yes, that does explain a lot. I had patching problems on one of my work machines, caused by using of the 1.69 beta patches, then coming back a year later and thinking it was the final release version. This was solved by applying the Critical Rebuild patch, which is a hefty download, but seems to work even on hopelessly broken NWN installations. Full versions can still be found for every version of NWN from 1.18 to 1.69. _________________________ Realms Of Destiny PW

Uhm, and just a note, that might help you understand. I DON'T use NWN 1.69. I used to, but some time ago Windegg went down and I had to set up the whole system anew. Of course I installed NWN with both expansions, but when I tried to update it, I got error messages. Until now I didn't manage to solve this.
Thanks again.
I never thought you wanted to bring me down, you just gave some suggestions for possible improvements, which I always appreciate, even if I don't agree with every suggestion.
As I said, I will give the new NWexplorer and Lexicon a chance.
2da files are easy to edit with a simle text editor, as for myself I use EditPad Light.
A good tlk editor would certainly be a fittig addition, but as I never edit the talktable yet, I don't know which one we should prefer.
As for future updates: There are a few things I could improve (the ones we discussed before), but I don't want to put everyting in it that could come in handy somtimes. There is just too much out there. I want to keep this simple, as the name sais - the essentials a beginner needs to start.

Thank you for the prompt reply, Bene. I certainly didn't mean to disparage your work here. I just wanted to offer some suggestions to make it more useful to builders, who are pretty much all using 1.69 right now. I was also reluctant to try newer versions of tools I had come to trust, but I found the old NWN Explorer frequently crashing upon opening 1.69 content, whereas the Reborn 1.69 version has worked flawlessly for me during a major PW hak update. Likewise, the Lexicon 1.68 is excellent, and the great Axe Murderer is among those working on the Lexicon 1.69 update. So you have nothing to lose by giving the latest updated tools a try.
A good 2da and talk editor would help round out your package, as these are the tools I find myself using on a daily basis. There are various suberb ones to pick from, like Axe's Killer series, the various CODI tools, and Excimer's tools.
But thank you for the other tools, particularly Gmax, which I had always heard of but never tried until now. Your handy compilation pack is ideal for new builders, and I wish it had existed when I first got into NWN. A compiliation like this is a terrific idea, and I expect it to get even better with future updates and expansions. :-) _________________________ Realms Of Destiny PW
OK, files are uploaded now, no external link any more.

Very awesome. In regards to the NW Explorer, I still prefer to use the old version myself, until some of the bugs and design changes are smoothed out. I give this a 10 based on its principle alone. With some time and updating it can be perfect =) _________________________ The VIVE NWN Project.

Just a warning - you might want to check with the vault admin if they are okay with redistributing GMax on the vault. Gmax is free to use but it is nevertheless copyrighted commercial software and you should check whether or not your GMax user licence permits republication in this way.
Also, check the vault's Terms and Conditions relating to uploading copyright material without permission. Basically, they say you can't.
That's probably why no-one else has posted a copy of Gmax on the vault already.

It's a nice gesture to compile so many content creation tools into one handy package, but some of the core tools here are outdated versions. For example, the NWN Explorer Reborn v1.60 has full 1.69 support, and the Lexicon is available in a much newer 1.68 version. With the sweeping changes introduced in the 1.69 patch, using older versions of these tools may actually make content creation harder instead of easier. Still, the PDF version of Eligio's terrific Custom Content Guide alone is worth the price of admission, even after all these years. I'll refrain from voting yet, just in case Big Bene has an updated compilation in the works. _________________________ Realms Of Destiny PW

Oops, just found out that the vault doesn't handle my link correctly. When you are told that the file "is not there", just use the last section of the pathname "www.anderreich.de/CCessentials[Gm].zip" and copy it into your browser's adress panel. This should be solved when I have uploaded the actual files to the vault.
