We haven't noticed this modification to the vault as of yet so we created an easy to use set of files so that anyone can download them and play with spellcaster progression to level 40.
These 2das can be placed in your NWN overide file to allow your spellcasters whether Palidan, Bard, Druid or Wizard, to continue gaining spells both known and learned to 40th level.
Persistant worlds are also able to take these files and put them in the server overide files so that all players can progress or within their haks.
The spell progression from 21th - 40th level is slower than 1-20 and balanced among the various classes. This is Harvest Moon Consortium's first submission we hope you enjoy.

Well, that can be argued, seeing as there are many rules tweaked in order to adapt D&D to a videogame format like NWN, and such is even accepted in the game manuals.
No need to wonder why it never got into the official patches, Jedijax. The official patches are based on D&D, and this is not. (The official D&D ruling is that spellslots do not increase after class level 20.) It's fine as a customization, but there is no way it would ever be approved by Atari and WotC for an official patch.

A great little tweak! Makes you wonder why it never got into the official patches...
Once you put it in the overide, you will see the results level by level. The only thing that can overide it is if a hak in the mod overides these. That is because the overide folder overrides the game. A hak overides both the overide file and the game. So every level youre pc will add one or two spell slots to their spells to show the level growth.
I will see what I can do later to try to clarify things.

Oh, now I get it! Basically this spell progression means more spell slots after level 20, right? Just as you said, I thought such were entirely dependent of the INT modifier!
However, I do agree with The Krit; perhaps a little more detail in the description would clarify this one to the jedijaxes of the world.
Say, can I see the results of this override in a level 35 Wizard? or do I have to actually level up after 20 ONCE the 2da is in?
That's not entirely accurate. It is close enough for many purposes, but the .2da files controlling the spell slots and (bard/sorcerer) known spells have been edited since the original game was released (BioWare had to edit them when Hordes raised the level limit), and they do not stop at level 20 (the progression stops at level 20, but the files go up to level 60 now).
Not a big deal, but your answer makes it sound like it was an oversight that spell slots and bard/sorcerer known spells do not increase after level 20. It's not an oversight; that is how epic spellcasting levels work in D&D (which might be why you haven't seen this modification before).
On a related note, since the D&D/NWN standard progression for spell slots after level 20 is no progression, you might want to have this entry's description go into more detail than "slower than 1-20". People who are interested in this sort of modification might want to know exactly what they are getting.
Once a wizard reaches 20th level they can throw either 5 or 4 spells per level/ per day + their intellegence modifier. No matter what level you go to thats it you get no more spells to day to work with even when you go another 20 level. The reason is the 2da that controls the number of spells you can throw per day stops at 20th level. No one has edited them since the original game unless an individual pw owner did or an organization like prc did. Not everyone wants to download huge haks to have their spellcasters add spells after they hit 20th level.
A sorcerer or bard dont learn spells like the other classes they have 2 2das. One that controls what spells they can know the other how many they can throw per day. We also modified them in a balanced way so sorcerers and bards can progress the same as any other spell caster.
If you still dont understand make a 40th level wizard without the putting the files in your overide. Put your pc in a safe place in a test mod. Call up your spells and look at the right side. Fill the right side with spells. go out of the game. extract the 2das and put them in your overide.
go back into the game. Call up your spells and look at the difference. on the right side of your screen and look at how many new spell slots you have.

Bear with me a little... whenever I go up a level after 20, I get the chance to add more spells, so I guess this "spell progression" means a completely different thing. Could you, please, explain what it means, or how one may percieve it in-game? Thanks in advance!

Hm... we now can make epic wizards with even more spells.

Thanks for adding some more incentive to take more than 20 caster levels; always wanted some more spell progression into the epic levels.
Cheers.

Thanks a ton. I'll be using this on my own PW with credits given within the week. _________________________ The Savage Frontier and Surrounds - NWN PW based in the Forgotten Realms: Link
