Submitted / Updated  03-23-2003 / 06-29-2005
Category  Utility

Description
Command line tools for packing and unpacking modules as well as converting them to sets of XML files and back. These tools are useful when making changes to modules outside of the standard Bioware toolset. The XML conversion tools are useful for making bulk changes or keeping module components in some kind of source control system like CVS.

Fantastic.

Any team working on a module should have these, in conjunction with CVS. With all the PW's around you'd think this would see more use.

An awesome set of tools - thankyou very very much. I am using these tools not only to move blueprints into my servers' override folder to reduce space - but I can use the XML tool to consolidate blueprints and rename blueprints outside of the toolset - its so easy ! Again, thankyou for publishing this - its an invaluable tool !

Just a quick note that the latest update has been put up. It's good to see people have actually posted here finally. :)

I've changed the version scheme to 1.0.0 with this release. No big changes except that you can install it into directories with spaces in the path now.

I find this quite handy for working on my Linux machine - the linux editor doesn't work too well there.

The XML tools are also really handy when I want to quickly check out a module or character file, for instance, without firing up the editor. It's great to be able to use grep and vim to look for instances of an item :)

Here's a nifty trick - I drummed up an XSLT to generate quick and dirty HTML character sheets from the bic.xml output - including XP and item lists. This should help me clean up my localvault.

Very useful - especially with the XML functionality.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 3 that made this score of 10.00 then rounded to 10.

Yet another version uploaded fixing a bug found by Grandone.

The Bug: Modules without descriptions would cause modpacker to fail.

Should be all better now. Post or e-mail if you have problems. I'll probably upload a source tarball to the web site in the next few days.

I just uploaded a new version of the zip that includes an easier setup for those not familiar with classpaths and such.

Just unzip it and run the setup.cmd script. See the readme.html for full installation and use instructions. Other than that change, it's the same codebase.

If you find this tool useful, post a comment. I'd be interested to see how others are getting along with it.
