Modganizer is a Neverwinter Nights module organization tool. Create and maintain a library of player created modules where you can store additional information about each module. Please see the ReadMe.txt for the full Feature Set and System Requirements.
I purchased .NET academic for $90.00 and I've barely scratched the surface with its functionality and flexibility. Yes, like a lot of MS software, its a resource hog and bloated beyond belief, but I think for Windows and Web applications, it will continue to be a useful development tool, despite all the naysayers. I for one will try your program on and see for myself whether it is useful. Somedays I feel witty, others foolish. Then there are the days when I feel witty AND foolish.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 28 that made this score of 7.71 then rounded to 8.

Brax, you wrote "This isnt the place to gripe about computer technology nor
is it the place to discuss programming platforms." I agree, but can't resist throwing in my two cents here (since your post appears to be the only sensible one so far concerning this issue). I was a professional developer from vb3 onwards, right up to vb6 a year ago. Now we use C# thank God, the best new language (and .Net an amazing framework) to come out in a long time. Oh, and one other thing, hard drive space increases all the time, you know, I remember the first pc I had had 80Mb so vb6 would not have fit on that at all, would it? You kept calm in the face of these ridiculous posts, Brax, I'm really impressed.

I came across this application as I was looking for the binary module format specs so that I could write something similar. It does bite that you have to download so much supporting software and libraries. Really cuts the "appeal" factor fast even though it looks like a clever app.
FYI, I wrote a console and ncurses version for Solaris (could work on Linux, i just mount a disk volume from a quad-cpu sparc to a dual-cpu linux machine that runs the server) that is ~ 270k in C++.
C#...Haha
p.s. Microsoft != Software Engineering Community
p.p.s. Good job on the app. It does look neat.

Like I said, not trying to upset any children or anything.
Just wanted to give you a friendly warning. Don't be
embarrassed because you were suckered into buying .NET
like a lot of us were.
Like I said I am a big MS fan. Bigger then you obviously
since I know what's going on inside of each of my products.
Anyway, better luck trying to educate yourself. If you
need another laugh, go do some real research and see how
silly you made yourself look in your post.
=)

heheh I have to thank you Ivory for my daily dose of humor
today. Your obviously a Sun employee arent you?
This isnt the place to gripe about computer technology nor
is it the place to discuss programming platforms. Bottom
line .Net is Microsofts future and C# (the language used
to develop this tool) is thier main language. They state
that themselves. If you run Windows, within a year you
won't have a choice in the matter but to have the
framework installed.
As far as your comment about the first service pack within
a week of it's release...Bioware released their first
patch the night of the release. Bad thing? I think not.
It's called supporting your product.
VB6, their best Compiler yet
Oh that was good whole hearted comedy right there.

great job!
It would be great to list the dependancies of what files
are needed by the mod (Portraits, scripts, etc) & an link
that will search for the said items on Neverwinter Vault (&
perhaps other sites).
It would be neat to beable to output all the info as a XML
doc. For that matter, it would be even neater it upload
the rating into Neverwint Vault via the GUI :) This prob
would need an change to your tool's rating.
keep up the good work!

Consider yourself warned about .NET
99% Hype, 1% Intelligent Consumer.
I propose that anyone using the .NET framework take a
second and possibly a third look at it. In so many
words, .NET was a complete failure. I'm still very
surprised that Microsoft hasn't pulled it off the shelf
all together yet.
A fool learns from his own mistakes, a wise man learns
from the mistakes of others.
I'm not trying to start any trouble but I've been
using the Basic Language & Microsoft Basic Compilers for
over 12 years now and my copy of VS.NET was taken to Half-
Priced Books so I could get at least something worth more
then a stick of gum out of the software.
You mean you don't have unlimited Hard Disk space?
Just to install VB.NET was over a 3 gig install. As
opposed to VB6's 200mb install. .NET is a very poor excuse
for a programming language & compiler. Which sucks because
I'm a big Microsoft Fan.
Kiss Your Registry Goodbye!
Also, if you aren't using XP or an NT plat, your
registry is going to be filled with all kinds of trash you
DO NOT have room for. Take my word. You'll need .NET
server or XP's registry abilities to handle it.
Note: The first .NET Service Pack was released within only
2 weeks of the Software's Release Date. (VB6, their best
Compiler yet, has 6 service packs so far and the first one
wasn't seen for like at least a year after it's release.)
Just a friendly note to both the programmer & the end-
users out there today. Steer clear of anything that's .NET

It really is too bad that to use a 4 meg program that I
have to download 20 megs of support files (.net) to run it.
I think I'll wait for a more someone to come up with a
different approach.

Rikan:
Thanks for posting your thoughts. I myself don't see the
sense in telling you to "do it better", there's nothing
wrong with a little honest criticism. Hell I appreciate it
really. I would like to comment on a couple of your
points however.
Point B) The real problem here is there is no standard way
of packaging a module. I myself and the people I play
with pretty much extract out a .mod file into the game
folder (prior to the tool) and be done with it because
most modules are only that. A .mod in a .zip. If there
was a more standard way of packaging modules with readme
files (although shouldnt this be the mod description),
images and what not then things would definately have been
different
Point C) I suppose you're right the list is a little
small. I tried to address the issue by allowing you to
widen the list using the center divider between the two
but that doesnt help much when you have a large number of
categories that scroll downward. As far as sorting
modules by hand that was never the intention of the tool.
Any module that has no stored date is placed in the New
Modules folder when uninstalled from the game. So
categorizing modules using windows explorer is useless,
you might as well just use explorer as your tool to
organize mods.
Point D) Great idea. I've added it to my "to do" list
because it just makes sense.
Point E) Hacpacks have actually plagued me quite a bit.
I've thought over this issue a number of times. What I
decided was this. The ratio of HacPacks to modules is so
out of whack that it's not even funny. 10 - 20 modules a
day compared to how many HacPacks? There is never a time
where youre sitting in game and have a list of HacPacks
to choose from like there is Modules. Because of this and
the fact that one HacPack can service many Modules I
decided to disregard the handling of HacPacks. I don't
see any benefit myself in uninstalling or organizing
HacPacks.
Well as I said I appreciate your feed back and understand
that this tool won't be for everybody. I can respect
that. It's through feedback like your post that leads to
a better tool down the road.
Cheers and happy adventuring.

Heh - I was going to download this because it seemed to be
just what I needed to organise the scrambled mess of mods
I've downloaded...
Then I realised that what I really need to do isn't
organise the mods but delete them all and only download one
at a time, play it, then delete it!
When you find you need a custom-built system to organise
clutter, the problem is already beyond organising, I think.
And when you think of the thirty or so Mods I've downloaded
I've played one all the way through and two others about
half-way...
Be interesting to know how many of the Mods that get
downloaded ever get played. That'd be a useful statistic to
see against a Mod - Downloaded 1374 times Played 130 times.

I've updated the zip file to include the ReadMe.txt. When
I packaged this up I forgot to include it and it was only
added by the installer. Kind of a catch 22 having to
install software in order to view it's sytem requirements.
I also fixed a small issue with the installer where it
wasn't creating the application folder in your start menu.
Thanks for the tips!

Thank you! I needed this very badly. Next version should
check the NWN Vault for player ratings if it can match the
filename up with what is on the website.

Very good idea !
As people don`t feel like they should include proper
descriptions to their modules, this one might help.
I don`t think that I will use it often, because when
builders don`t invest time to write a proper module
description,
the mod will not be worth the time to look into it.
Anyway, good idea.

Although I havent looked as hard as I would like to at
this app yet, my initial impression is WOW! With more and
more mods becoming available (close to 700 now I think)
This will be an indispensible tool for organizing mods. I
cant wait to start downloading more mods and us9ing this
tool to keep them organized and help me remember what I
have and what the requirements are for each.
Great Work!

One bit of information I'd like to add that should be
known prior to the download is that this is a Windows
application that requires the Microsoft .Net Framework.
The framework can be dowloaded via Windows Update or the
url included in the .ReadMe file.
