A tool that allows to do a realtime querry of a server to list players and the major server settings like ELC, ILR etc .. *Note* You NEED the Microsoft .Net runtime to run this program. New in version 1.0: Made it a bit more modular on the code end of it .. also made the query threaded so it doesnt lock up the application while the query is performed.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 4 that made this score of 6.75 then rounded to 7.

Does NWN Status Tool still works with NWN 1.61? I need a program like this.
Posted by NEO25 ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2004-01-05 08:20:00
I have a working version of the NWN server query that works with 1.61. If you'd like to get it, please visit Link and go to the downloads section.
You can see a working version of it at Link

Hi folks,
Wow that's some prety good feedback there.
Yes the 16 problem is a BioWare hardcoded limit..
The protocol change in 1.32 .. I'm really not sure what they've done with it .. I'd have to spend some time researching that and I don't really have the time.
If someone could figure out what they did (I'm guessing it could even possibly be that they changed how the packetset perminates (since my code waits for a specific string that appears at the end of the packet with the data) .. I really don't know and I'd have to do some traffic dumps to see what exactly its doing when I send in the request ..
If anyone figures out whats going on, dont hesitate to send me an email, I try to answer to all emails sent to me (as some of you must have noticed), and I hardly ever look here, so if you want my attention use my email.
Thanks,
Piotr "Phantom" Banasik

I'm having the same problem. Bioware must have changed the interface for server queries in 1.32.

The status of the server no longer displays since I updated to 1.32. Is anyone else having this issue?

In the next version, will you have the launcher display more than 16 players?
Posted by PreacherMan ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-06-06 18:06:00
Have you had any instances where clients connecting to a server using your launcher have changed the difficulty setting of the server ? Can we request the source code to make sure that there is no rogue code doing such a thing ? Would hate to see people using your launcher and getting banned for something they did not intentionally do...

its not VB ... its C# .. its nothing spectacular really .. dunno about realeasing the source .. will think about it ..

It's probably visual-basic, in which case you won't want to, here have a nice Linux kernel to look at *unix geek runs off into the distance*

Any chance of getting a look at the code? I'm a software engineering student and I'd love to see the guts of your program.

For those who do not read the description.
There has been an update to version 1.0
New in version 1.0:
- the server query process is now threaded (this removed
the application's stickyness when in the middle of a query)
Version 0.9:
- added a Launch button and config options .. allowing to
Launch nwmain.exe to the specified server .. with the
ability to join passworded servers, launching the DM client
and all
- spiced up the about box .. made some use of the Fansite
Kit to make a logo-ish thing for the proggy
Version 0.8:
- initial release

version 0.9 had a launcher already .. and 1.0 is a
performance tweak version mainly .. so grab the current
version .. 1.0 .. and it has the launch capability and all.

This is a neat little program. I use it a lot for checking
my favorite worlds, most of which are either close to full
or are only up at certain times of the day. A nice feature
would be a launch button for nwn.exe or nwmain.exe, which
I assume is coming in the next version.

hah .. if I actually got the protocol specs that would make
it easy .. in part I got it from the cooperation of the
author of another similar program in PHP .. in part by
looking at the packets as they fly by .. if you do find
somewhere some kind of a protocol spec .. let me know
Posted by Loc'hlaith ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-31 07:30:00
And where did you get the protocol specs?

Whenever it propagates I have the new version up, with the
launcher integrated, and a new set of screenshots for here
showing off more of the program.

uhm .. it really isnt that much slower .. its kinda like
java .. a bit faster than java I guess .. just requires that
bigish download ..

How about VB6 version for those like us with slower
computers?
Posted by Phantom ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-24 12:48:00
Thanks Syrus that's what I was looking for. I'm waiting for
comments about the program and things you may want
changed/added. So feel free to either email me or post here
and let me know what you think.

I think this is what you are looking for, the target line
for the shortcut lists how the parameters should be
included.....
Just a timesaver instead of having to load NWN and connect
to multiplayer etc. etc. etc.
Create a shortcut,
this is just where I installed NWN on my computer. You will
have to change it if you have it installed elsewhere.

The launch parameters are noted in Hak Updater. Contact
the author, Revinor, if the documents to Hak Updater are
not adequate for your purposes to discover the specific
paramter you need.
