***Update 1.01*** This utility is now usable by others! You must have the java Virtual Machine to use it and just need to double-click the .bat file. Info on getting Java VM in the readme. ***-----------*** NWNrenamer is a utility for renaming files to combine into hakpaks. It will rename a group of files including all references within .mdl files. I created this program after spending many hours doing this manually, then many hours searching for a tool that would do this. Not finding one, I proceeded to spend many hours coding this little gem. I hope enough people find it useful that it's worth my effort. Hopefully people will find a use for it now that HotU is out and we're all redoing hakpaks.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 7 that made this score of 9.57 then rounded to 10.

Yeah, actually I've been using it lately and I get that error too sometimes. It's still working (in my case). I think that it's balking on the directory Created where it puts the files even though it shouldn't be.
Anyway, it may still be working properly in your case, so check it out.
I figured I might make this more user friendly someday, but not right now. I'm more busy programming in school than in spare time :) plus there are at least two others who are running with this ball, since I started, though I haven't tried their programs.
getting a strange bug with this app. tried to renumber all files in a directory (the files were the entire contents of Kinarr Greycloak's Bowstrings HAK, in case you want to try yourself) but the program says "MUST BE A NUMBER". all i did was change the directory to match my temp directory. did not touch the "offset" field at all - it was left at the default 100. still, the error message is "MUST BE A NUMBER".
Oh lovely, and I was just about to start renumbering by hand.
Thanks for the effort.

Here's a note: If you can't get Java Virtual machine to work, or you just don't like this little program, try Hillary Skeryanc-Mann & Daniel C. Mann's program "NWN Model Renamer v1.0". I haven't tried it, but the authors say that it will help you rename your .mdl files. After months without tools like these, you now have TWO to choose from! Rejoice!

Disregard my last comment! You are a GOD! Thanks for saving me soooooo much time!
I need to explore all options before ever commenting. Arg.

Please tell us all how to use it. some instructions would be nice. I try and point the browser to a folder with some ******.mdl's I want renamed and it complains abt it not being a number.

Ok... now it should work for others. Sorry about the false start, but the program has already saved me tons of time. Email me if you have trouble using it - it's not the most graphical or user-friendly thing ever, but it gets the job done well. Plus, make sure you read the readme, which explains how it works.

Thank you! You have no idea how many hours I've spent doing this by hand. Well... on second thought, you probably do. Can't wait for the update to come out so I can get to work.

This would help me a heck of a lot!
As soon as you up date with files and .bat I'm snagging it for sure:)

Yup... sorry. I compiled the Java using a program I downloaded, but apparently it only works on my computer. I will upload the java files with a .bat to run.
Sorry.
