Since I started my clothing haks, quite a few people have asked for basic information on editing PLT textures for character armor skins. I have written a brief document on getting started.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 2 that made this score of 10.00 then rounded to 10.

Just a noob question, but I can't get Pltcon to work. It flickers on for a splitsecond then closes, Lordemil's site doesn't have any info to help so I thought I'd ask here.

Point taken but this particular tutorial isn't a how to use your graphics program. I did assume the reader was familiar with their 2d graphic editing software be that PSP or PS or something else. All this does is just explain how to use the RGB color channels in a way that is compatible with pltcon and pltedit which convert specialized bmp images for NWN.
About your question on Splitting to RGB:
Splitting to the RGB color channels is different in every paint program. I know PSP: you chose the image menu, then the split channel then the RGB choice. For PS or Gimp or other programs you'll have to refer to their manuals or help sections to find the equilvalent.
Do feel free to email me with related questions and I will try to help you out. :)

I second that. When you write a tut you must presume all of us are idiots, cause some of us are totally noobs when it comes to these things and need a thorogh "step-by-step" tutorial to get it ;)

Well I have all the right tools and am trying to do what you say in the tutorial but the problem is, you seem to tell the reader to do something, but dont tell the how to do it. It would seem that anyone who knows how to do the things you arent explaining would already have the knowledge to make PLT's.
Any chance we could get a little more explination?
(e.g. when you tell the reader to 'split the channels' tell them to click on the small arrow in the top left of the channel window and select split channels from the drop down list.)
