Want to learn how to create placeables and add them to the game? Here's a detailed tutorial that steps you through the process. Also includes a hak pak with a new custom placeable.

why, oh why has it taken me SOOO long to find this, this is one of the best tutorials out there (trust me, ive used a few =P) _________________________ There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Just pray it isnt a train
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 5 that made this score of 8.60 then rounded to 9.

Rivendor- I've noticed that once in a while .erfs don't
export the models for some reason. It could be an export
problem, I don't know why that happens. If you edit the
graphic-less tree you just imported, you should be able to
scroll to the pine tree in 'appearance', and it should stay
like that for the next time you use it, but you'll have to
do that for any module you use it in unless you export the
tree and re-import it to a different module.
Good tutorial, by the way, Scooterpb. There was just enough
info to know generally what to do, but still make you work
for it. Although it was a bit confusing at times, trying to
figure out what you were referring to because I'm not
familiar with the program quite yet. Can't wait to see more
of your work, hopefully tutorials! (Maybe an animation
tutorial in the future? :D)

Outstanding work Scott. Well done.
Please - by all means - do another. I'd suggest playing
with the mdl swapper util and one for animations.

scooterpb,
I have been learning the aspects of modeling at a semi-
steady pace, with some success...
Thanks to this, the pace has now become faster ;-)
Thank you for taking the time, and putting the effort forth
to produce this awesome tutorial.

I downloaded the zip of the pine tree and extracted the
*.hak & the *.erf. I put the hak in the hak folder and
selected it as the hak for my module. Then I imported the
*.erf file. Under placeables-custum-parks&nature- there's an
object called Large Pine Tree. But there's no graphic for
the pine tree. It's just blank; what's wrong? Thanks!

This is awesome. Exactly what I was looking for. I am
actually a fairly experienced 3d modeler/animator but I am
new to NWN. More tutorials like this (importing creatures
animations etc) would be excellent to get more artists
involved.

Nice tutorial and placeable. Is thier a way to do this in
gmax or something since don't have access to 3ds max 4 or
5. Would like to try this.

One of the best tutorials I have used... I actually got
the pine tree to work!
Thanks for putting all the details in. I especially liked
the way you handled the modelling part... Not too
detailed, but enough that I could put the model together.

Great tutorial and awesome tree! Any chance you'd do
another version of the hak with a couple more trees of
different sizes and/or snowy textures, or are we on our own
with that?
You are a modeling god!

If you just want the pine trees, there's a link to download
them in a hak pak at the end of the tutorial.

Forget about the tutorial, I want those pine trees! And
pine trees with snow on top!
