If you need to edit a 2da for some purpose, you also need to distribute it to those players who will be playing on your Mod. In which case you dont need to repack 2das into your bif anyway, but instead put them into a hak file and add it to your mod.

Dont open the chiten key if you have an Xpak installed, open the key file that matches the Xpak you have installed.

I get the same problem with version .3, .4, and .5 is
anyone able to offer a solution for this?
Wehn running, it says it cant find the install for teh
aurora toolset. When I manually point to the chitin.key
file and select open it appears to give an error about
access refused or something in french.

Im having the same problem, it fails to recognize the
install path and when I manually point it to the chitin.key
file and try to open it I get an access violation error,
atleast as far as I can tell, I cant read the error message
because its French or something.
