This is a tutorial for extracting the Balor model, re-skinning it, and placing it back into the toolset as a seperate selectable model for creating a creature. If you have a custom model most of the steps are the same.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 6 that made this score of 7.33 then rounded to 7.

Thanks Snakeeyes. Great tutorial, I used it to create my Brown Balor.

I followed the tutorial, and it all seemed to work fine.
I created a new creature with the new model, but when I
try to place an instance of the original Balor, it now has
the appearance of the new model.
The other odd thing is that if I place the original Balor
first it appears correctly, but when I place the new model
(Which appears correctly) all future instances of the old
Balor now have the new model.

I can create an object that is a unique creature which I
have designed in the creature wizard. I jest use its ResRef
name to create it. But now I have reskinned a Balor to make
a Black Balor, using lllSnakeeyeslll tutorial. I cannot get
the new creature to create, using the same process. It
might be because the create function does not recognise any
creature that does not have a String ref #?
lllSnakeeyeslll, help me if u read this.
PS: I can easily place the creature on the map, and can see
it in the custom palette.

I followed the tutorial step by step, and wound up with
instead of the Balor, black in the appearance pull down
for the new creature in the toolset, I had 2 additional
appearances named "balor". They looked, well, unique.
Bright silver, with wings made up of big white squares. I
have no idea what i did wrong, and while they do look
different from a normal balor, they arent exactly what i
wanted lol.
