NeverEdit aims to provide end-user module editing capabilities forBioware's Neverwinter Nights role-playing game, which is sold without an editor on the Macintosh and Linux platforms. The project is part of the Openknights Consortium, a group of volunteers teaming up to provide tools for this great game. NeverEdit also is open source and its Python code can be re-used for other projects. Major new features:
tiled opengl map display with placeables, creatures and doors
new integrated script editor and script compiler with syntax highlighting, block collapsing, error highlighting
linked help viewer containing the nwn lexicon (http://nwnlexicon.com), automatic lookup of definitions from script editor

i'm having the same issues as Bob the Fighter. Also there's an error about some file, something about "read only" _________________________ Check out Farcrown Arena, a full awesome Capture-the-Flag arena module for download! Host it and watch the forces collide! :D Link

hows this for a bug, the program can't find the hak folder unless its all in lower case. FOR weeks i've been trying to figure out why I can't assign new haks to a module. The reason the folder was spelled Hak.

Alright, this is very good. However, I'd like to pint out the flaws.
I have an Emac running 10.3, and for me, the edit dropbar doesn't work for me. That's bad.
Your script editor doesn't allow me to modify or create new conversation strings, and I can't change shop contents or create custom items for the mod.
I can't create a new application, and I can't edit the placement of tiles.
Still, it's great that you guys are putting a lot of hard work into this.

This looks really cool. I havent grabed it yet, but is it possible to use the script editor completly independantlty as the ability to collapse parts of the script seems really interesting

How the heck do you install this thing on a Win2000 machine? Thanks.

Awesome! I just had a quick glance at it cause I didn't have NWN installed yet but I'm making some small modules now so I can at least write scripts! Thank you very much! Rock on!
Thank you for your great initiative!
I have downloaded the NeverEdit files
and will provide feedback in the near
future. You certainly are filling a
gap that was left by the producers of
NWN.
I'm keen on helping out as much as I
can in testing. Though I haven't seen
the DOS-NWN counterpart of NeverEdit.
But hey, there were times when I was
busy using Anvil & Forge, the editors
that came with the third part of the
Bungie classic "Marathon".
I echo Jasondec's feature request. I've been using the toolset in my Win-D'oh's 98 PC and it... functions. Would be happy enough to have an equally functional version on the much, much faster Mac. Having Mac-like functionality in the program, such as treating the script editor, various wizards, and toolset as separate programs, workable simultaneously (ie, not being locked out of one while using the other) would be excellent.
I still haven't figured out what I did wrong, so I haven't seen 0.4 in action (probably a Python thing; the install instructions for Python are a bit cryptic to me). May have to upgrade the OS when the editor gets closer to completion.
Keep up the great work guys! Open Source is the way to go! This is a great project and I hope eventually it will surpass easily the bioware toolset.
One feature I would like is to unlock the script editor so I can work on scripts without being locked away from the toolset. This would help finding resrefs and tags while I am scripting!
The error I'm getting is not very descriptive: "ERROR! execle(/PlayThings/Neverwinter Nights/Utilities/neveredit.app/Contents/MacOS/neveredit) returned, err=22" I'm guessing I did something wrong configuring Python. Am emailing this information to you also, but my current location does not allow outgoing email from my laptop.

Allyndn_The_Beggar: neveredit should definitely run on your machine. I made and tested the Jaguar code on a B&W G3 running at 350Mhz with 192 Megs of RAM. No, that machine does not run NWN reliably, but it does run neveredit.
Can you send me any output you get from Console.app when starting neveredit at [email protected]?
Very sorry to say (*very* sorry) I can't get the program even to open. Running 10.2.6 on a 667Mz G4 machine with 512 MB RAM. Is my spec too low? I can send you more info if that would help.

Does it include a dialogue editor ? If not you could have a look to Ghanima, its a JAVA based dialogue editor, perhaps it could be of some use. Its available on the vault
