This Excel utility was designed to aid Neverwinter Nights builders during the process of creating NPC conversations. Specifically to allow a convenient way to view and maintain all of the dialogs in a module outside of the toolset.
UPDATED
As per anachrodragon's request I have uploaded an unprotected version to allow viewing of the VBA code. Also corrected the help page. Thanks anachrodragon!
You have to change the sceurity setting within Excel to allow macro's to run. Look under Tools->Options->Security Macro Security and then change the setting to Medium. Otherwise this application will not work. Hope this helps.
I have tried using this tool but the ActiveX and Macros error out, forcing Excel to remove them.
I am using Office XP, and wonder if anyone can update this for it? I would LOVE to be able to work on conversations away from the toolset with some ease...
Just thought to let you know that you've still got this password protected. I noticed this when I clicked on "New". Looks interesting though! _________________________ We are all born ignorant, but one must work to remain ignorant.
Since I have been unable to find the time to make a readme document for this application I thought I would just enter it here. When you open this file you should be prompted that the file contains macros that may be harmful to your system. At this point you should allow for the use of macros. The macro is needed to assist in the making of the page, so if you elect not to allow them, the application will not work.
Good point Flarestormjpb. I will work on a readme for this later next week. Glad you liked the app.

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to mherberger! I'm making my first module and have been using this to make my convos 'offline' and it is a great resource!
Only criticism I can think of is that there could be a readme file for those who don't understand how to get it up and running for those unfamiliar with Excel...might be confusing for a new user because Excel automatically goes to high security and disables macros.

Thank you. As for the password protection, I did that out of habit and should not have. I will upload a version that is unprotected in the near future.

Great little spread sheet utility. It's made it a lot easier to keep things organized, even stuff like retaining consistancy with script names. Anyway, the only thing I'll point out is that despite where the arrow in the help page is pointing, you should type your conversation in the cell *next to* the ones that say NPC or PC. That way you can still right click and add more nodes. I also wish the VB script wasn't password protected... it would be interesting to learn from. Nice job though!

Very useful utility. Now I can better organize my dialog, and even write it at work :)
This is very helpful. Allows you to map out conversations and then copy and paste them into the conversation editor. I must admit, I really like it. Thank you.

elandys,
To answer your questions, no.
I created this tool as a way to view all of the conversations for a module.
Before I even started building my module, I wrote down the story line of how I thought it would all play out. Then, I developed NPC's to deliver the story.
The thing I realized during this process was that as the module became larger it became increasingly diffcult to make sure that I had not strayed from the story. I found myself constantly reviewing the conversations to make sure that the stoy unfolded correctly.
Eventually, I went through a copied all of the conversations into an Excel sheet that I could take with me to work and modify during the day. In the evening, I would take the changes and copy then into the game. Thus the NWN Master Dialog Tree was created.

Paint me curious :D , but does this read and write erfs? How do you get the conversation into/out of the game?
