This is a simple but EXTREMELY USEFUL (at least to me!) excel spreadsheet. What it does is convert 2da info back and forth from excel to 2da formatted. This allows you to create 2da's without having to place a thousand spaces, it also gives you all the other luxuries you get when working with excel, such as easily copying and pasting information, finding and replacing, placing formulas, and so on and so forth. Copy all 2da information into one sheet, push a button and go to the Spreadsheet tab and all the information is there in neet, organized cells. Hit the button on Spreadsheet tab and turn your excel spreadsheet into 2da lines, that you can copy back into the 2da. NOTE: Changing very large 2da's into a spreadsheet, such as biowares, may take a moment after hitting the button to finish converting.

When converting from a 2da to a spreadsheet, I have just (after doing ALL my heavily modified 2da's) found that it converts all decimals into whole numbers. Example: ACBonus = '0.50' in the original 2da... "create spreadsheet"... and in the newly minted excel sheet it is converted to '5'. This is NOT a good find this late in the game. I appreciate the convenience, and it's whole heartedly MY fault for not watching, but with the rating so high, I didn't even think about it. Others might make a note of it as a CAVEAT. _________________________ Currently working on The World of Caudor

found the issue: the spacing between the values is critical. When viewed in a terminal font, you can see the alignment of the columns. The excel file doesn't place the spacing back to it's original form. It's a fallout from Tab delimiting. I tried to follow your macros,m but they are beyond by level of comprehention at this point, so I can figure out how to recapture the original spacing. Good luck if you try to fix this.

Hoping you check on this again soon...
I used this editor to change the baseitems.2da file to allow stacking of previously unstackable items and increased stack limit of others (ie postions from 10 to 25. When using this file in either /override or as a HAK, the PC no longer wants to charge a hostile when "told" to do so. I was hoping you could shed some light on this. thanks.

This ROCKS. I do have one problem, in using it though... For some reason, I can't extend the number of columns, on the 2da side, beyond 5. I can go further into detail, but would rather contact you via email, if possible?

Haven't checked this in a while. Perhaps I will have to take a look at the program sometime soon and improve it. I already had had some ideas of stuff that would make it easier. We will see. Thanks.

Truly a useful program. Thankyou.
It removes the tedium of previous edit programs.
As for improvements, you are the wizard, press on.

If any of you are finding this useful, please let me know. In the future, I could add some more features. It takes me at least only 1/4 the time to write a 2da from scratch using this, because of the easier to use excel format. So if you like it, and/or have ideas for options to be added, since it is pretty straight forward and uncomplicated now, please let me know! Thanks.

Yes, you are correct, macros do need to be enabled, that is what creates the 2da/excel spreadsheet. Set export spacing (which I should have better named! threw it together kind of fast after I got the idea for it!) is how many spaces will be between each column when it creates the 2da. Glad you found it usefull!
BTW- in the future, if there is interest, I may add another worksheet tab that has options that you can perform on the spreadsheet, such as listing all current values in a column, finding and replacing stuff, things like that.

Nice, much easier than the hand method I was using to do the same job.
BTW, I assume that the workbook is supposed to have macros enabled? People may have to lower their security settings in excell (Do so at your own risk, I am not responsible etc) by going to tools->options->Security tab->Macro settings and selecting medium or low (Id suggest medium).
Also, what does the Set Export Spacing box do?
