One of the objectives of The Builders Project guild has been to gather and make available resources, with the intent of aiding our members in the pursuit of module building. To that end, we have started collecting information on every aspect of module building and keeping track of questions asked on the guild's forum and the answers provided to these questions. All this information is stored and edited in what we call 'The Guide to Building'.
The Guide to Building will be released in many installments, each covering an important aspect of module building. This first installment, titled 'The Toolset Manual', looks at the toolset and the many options contained therein. The Toolset Manual is a reference manual in which every object type, property, tool and functionality offered by the Toolset is described in detail, along with many tips to help builders in the creation process.
Version 1.05
Added new content 9/3/2007
Version Changes
1.05 added content fro xp2 swithes and HotU wandering monster system
1.06 added content for SoU treasure system, common acronyms, resources section.
This first instalment, titled "The Toolset Manual" looks at the toolset, the wizards and options contained therein. It is designed to basically cover every possibility, big or small, offered by the Toolset without the need to get into heavy scripting.
One trouble I found, for those of us trying to build Persistent Worlds, is that there is no advice or guidance given for those who would want to make SoU treasure respawn after a certain point. For a PW, it is important to not merely have a first come, first served sort of treasure.

well-crafted, a good starting point to get your module/PW going. _________________________ Everything I know I learned playing D&D.

I just realized that I never voted on this, this manual is the single most helpful and timesaving thing I have ever found on here, thanks a million guys
i did what it says i downloaded it, but whenever i try to use it, this frogging message comes up.
To open this file, Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select it from a list of programs on your computer.
now when i pick the first option nothing happens, and when i open it in firefox, it doesn't do crap its just a white screen with nothing on it and i know it finishes loading and thats what happens.
so can someone please give me a tip. I'M AT MY WITS END!!!

I'm just learning to build and I haven't found anything like this to explain the Toolset. Still the best, after all these years...

This is so useful that I had to print it; without it I think Id still be trying to work out some detail of my first area. Books like this one usually cost a fortune. Thanks.
Tyndrel.

I just downloaded the manual at the recommendation of Qworty. I am brand new at building and really think this will be an invaluable tool since I am more of a visual learner. I modified the PDF file to be printed double sided and all the chapters starting on the right side of the page, since I work in the printing industry. Would you guys be interested in this file? I can easily send it to you. _________________________ Academy of Modding ExcellenceVice-Chairman
We are hopping to have another update ready before the end of the year with lots of new content of the tips and tricks variety as well as documentation on little known and hidden features of the toolset.

This is very good for a beginning module maker. I referred to it frequently and still do. It has most of the important basic information that a builder would need. _________________________ My book: "Rojuun" Link

Really helped me get going and the information is fantastic!
This PDF file is best used as a reference for the various functions of the toolset.
It is full serachable.
For example if you are having trouble with creating doors you could click on doors in the table of contents or use the pdf search and get detailed information about everything related to doors in the toolset.
Sorry about the delay in checkig this been busy editing Guide II
You should report any web site errors to Maximus.
I just downloaded both version from both links without any problems.

i can't DL this manual

The missing manual that should have been provided (at least in electronic form) with the game.
I found one or two pieces of information that were out of date, but it is otherwise superb.
The only slight disappointment is that scripting is not discussed in detail. It would be nice if an expert had added this, but of course it could easily double the length of the document...
Anyway, thanks!

This is one of the Primary Teaching guides that I am using to educate not only myself, I am teaching my 14 y.o. daughter as well with examples and explanations from this guide. Very well explained and sometimes very humorous. Thanks!
