This program installs itself as a Windows Service, monitors your nwclient1.txt file, and writes any additions into another text file with a timestamp. It will save all your chat logs by day. This fixes the 'feature' of Neverwinter Nights deleting it's entire chatlog everytime you restart the game. You can start and stop the process as you wish, and it adds itself into your 'add and remove programs' list so you can uninstall it easily. Read the Readme.txt for installation instructions and licensing Info. **UPDATES:** V1_04 It should now automatically update your Nwplayer.ini file with the required updates to operate correctly. Backup of the file will be located in NwnPlayer.NLC. Files are seperated into monthly folder archives.
I would like to use this tool for logging chats in NWN1.
Trouble is I am unsure of the path the installer uses as it doesn't want to install in my NWN game folder.
Plus I am using Windows XP SP3 running on an Apple Mac Pro.

It still works for me, even after the 1.69 patch. It works well; the only gripe I have is about the folders being named by month name, then by year. That can easily be fixed by viewing them according to the date modified column, so I'm still happy. _________________________ Live in such a way as to always deserve that which you love most.

Great program, Mercestes. Thanks for the quick e-mail. For those having the installation problems, he's working on a fix for it. Something about XP SP2 messing up the paths.
Only problem I have had is it won't post also the language token translations. Can that be fixed? I don't mind it does not also record the battles they are annoying anyway. _________________________ All things are possible...Until you open the box. -Ref to Schrödinger's Cat

Brillent idea, although it does have its faults, and tricky to get working, its well worth it.

So I guess this doesn't work in Linux ? Can I somehow start it from my own computer and then make it log the file through network ?
I get the following error: "An exception occurred in the OnAfterInstall event handler of System.ServiceProcess.ServiceInstaller. --> Impossible to find the specified path"
Erm... help?

This program monitors everything you "see" in game that gets written to the nwclient1.txt file. This includes all tells, says, whispers, shouts, and partychat from any players as well as *most* things said by NPCs using standard player channels. This also logs some server messages and debug info as well. It will log any player interaction whatsoever and almost any DM interaction as well.
It also has good uses as well, if you wish to look up old RP or just...reflect, on past events. It's main purpose is as a failsafe preventative measure to make sure you atleast have a textual log of ingame activities. I still suggest a screenshot if you are suffering some in-game nonsense, and I do have a program that auto-screenshots on 30 second intervals that is virtually unnoticable (and doesn't have the lag time of Prt Scrn) however, it is not a use it and forget it type of program, it requires some file maintenence or your Hdd will fill up. Hence, since it requires ongoing user maintence to prevent bad things from happening, I have not released it to the general public. It also does not pertain directly to Nwn...it captures whatever is on your monitor, websites, web cam activity, movies, everything.....So, I felt it inappropriate as a "NWN program."
