This is a sample organization folder for making custom content with good structure and Readme characteristics. I made it in response to the Idea Vault thread about making Hak packs easier to use by standardizing the format somewhat. The internal structure of custom content is regulated by Bioware, but other than that, we're on our own.
This is built in the form of a folder that contains all the needed files for describing and uploading a piece of custom content to the Vault. The rules followed, with explanations, are in the Readme.
If you build custom content, check this out- it will save you a lot of grief trying to keep track of the various files associated with a Vault upload, and make it easier for builders to use your contributions. There's really no downside. :-)
I'm not the CC deity making rules, but I think this setup makes life easier at both ends. If anyone has suggestions about further improvements, let me know, and I'll include it in the next version.
There will be an updated version of this once I have finished exploring the new incarnation of the Vault- the basic principles are still accurate, but the uploading guidelines are a bit off now.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 4 that made this score of 8.75 then rounded to 9.

Woohoo! I'd be honored, Eligio. You get a lot more coverage than I do. Thanks to all for the comments.
The current readme notes that you should mention what you have done to be compliant with certain versions... not sure how you would future-proof a hak, though. Further details are welcome.

I can do better than vote on it; if you are okay with it, I'd like to include this as an appendix in the Custom Content Guide.

it would be extra info in the txt.
newbies should learn.
dunno, but i guess that ppl is smart enought to use notepad or rename a file.....
anyone can cute&paste a line at the end of the 2da that is included in the readme for chage version purposes, something like "586 iit_ring_0212 **** **** **** **** ..."
change iit_ring_0212 for the names of the files u have in the hak (iit_ring_****)and then overwrite the 2da to make the hak work in his nwn version.

mm this is more or less what i did for my haks :)
i was thinking to add instructions in the readme of next hak about how u can change/update a hak to a new version of the game, thought easy editing the 2da and stuff
that could be a nice adition

I've just starting working with a group of other people on a PW and I'll check it out and give some feedback and a vote as soon as I can.

Please vote on the pack- if you like it, getting a good rating is the only way it will get enough attention to become a standard format.

Thanks for the comment. I don't mind if it's not all cheering (although I'm not interested in flames), but I would honestly like to know if this thing was helpful. I made it because sometimes the custom content creators seem to get so used to being experienced users that they forget what it was like when they were newbies. :-)

I'm just getting into the fray of custom creations... was hoping and hoping that Bioware would make it so we could do our own classes, and what do you know... you can. Though not as clean or pretty as if they had created a toolset for it... anyways so I will read and look at your stuff and post a comment ;) Thanks for the time you spent. I hope it is a rewarding experience for you. :)

Come on, guys- if you don't comment or vote, how do I tell if I did a good job, or if anyone's using the guidelines? Help a girl out here!
