This is Version 2.0 of the Community Expansion Packs (CEP) Submission Guidelines for NWN. An expanded guideline may be established and posted for other custom content as time and interest permits and as we expand the CEP to include other content areas. The objective of the CEP project is to help the NWN community with the existing problem of managing hak paks for modules and persistent worlds.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 3 that made this score of 7.00 then rounded to 7.

I have resisted using Hak Packs until now due to a lack of standard.
But now I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. (custom placable)
With the same idea we saw earlier, we could now have servers with the name "my_server_name [CEP]"
Same as we have:
"my_server_name [ATS]"
"my_server_name [HCR]"
"my_server_name [CNR]"
etc.. to indicate which well known system you are using.

Is this still happening? i need tilesets, one organized yearly community update would work for me. But um first we would need the first one. question is
IS there going to be a CEP?

The CEP is still a much needed item for the hordes of non programming or combining NWN owners. Where is it? What is the status? If enthusiasm has waned I have no doubt a quick line on the front page could gather focus again. Anyone?

So what's the status with the Community Expansion Pack? When will it be released?

I don't know if the selection process has begun or not,
but is there a list of things that definitely make the cut
and are going to be included, even if the final pak isn't
made yet? The only reason I ask is because there's
probably a bunch of people out there, who are like me, and
working on new worlds/modules, and thinking this CEP is a
great idea. I'd like to plan ahead for it, and either
hold off designing areas that would use elements from the
CEP, or use a 'proxy' CEP that had some of the elements I
needed, until the real thing came out. If there was a
list of things like tilesets and creatures that would
definitely be included, then there could be a bunch of
worlds and modules ready to go right away when the pak is
finally released. This would probably also help promote
using the hakpak by the entire community.
Just a thought.

rtrifts answered my question on the Bio forum:
"Bioware's Dragons weigh in at about 2200 polygons."
It was definitely the model I was testing, and not the poly
count. So 3000 Poly's for a unique/rare should work fine on
most machines.

I think the polycounts and possiablly the placeable texture
sizes are a bit high too. I mean I am 95% sure my computer
couldn't handle the creatures if they just barely fit in
there size category, I am running a Athalon 800mhz with a
Geforce card.

I like these guidelines. But I am wondering about one thing:
Creature Polygon Limits:
Uniques/Rares - 3000 polygons
Has that been tested?
I ask this because I have a high end machine (2 Gig Pent 4
w/ Nvidia), and it couldnt even handle a 2000 poly ship
without crashing NWN. As I recall, the ship held its own
until I started battling it, and as soon as it emitted some
VFX, the game crashed hard.
I am going to post this on the forums, as more people will
probably look there first.
