This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 19 that made this score of 7.05 then rounded to 7.

I mean the picture is not that bad, but what is with the color of the skin they look like they have gone awired. The eyes look terrible and one more thing the sword look like a man's 2oinch dick. That really suck.

Cut the portrait some slack - Aint her fault shes slang eyed.
Besides, its not like anything said here was racist anyway.

This isn't Asia Carrera. It's actually Flower Edwards. Just clearing that up :)

I don't know that it's quite a slur, but it's better to use "East Asian" in the future. Usually places, animals, things etc. can be oriental, but not people.

What's the big deal, it's just a word. It probably wasn't said to upset anyone, and if it was, it's purely coincidental. As far as I'm aware, many do not consider the term 'Oriental' to be offensive and to those that do, it's not as offensive as something like 'Cornbread' or 'Charlie Chan' or whatever.
Lighten up, it's only words. We mean no offense. We all love everyone here.

Oh yeah, the white tigerskin is way outta place. Other
than that, I've seen that you can do better.

I used to refer to anything with dark hair, 'orange' skin
or slanted eyes as 'orential.' Looks like I was offending
a lot of people and I apologize.
I did this b/c I thought I was being respectful. In order
to avoid offending anyone by calling a Korean a
Phillipino, or a Chineese a Japanese, or a Mongolian to
a...well you get the idea, I refer to "them" as orential.
If I was to say Asian, I would include some of Russia,
India, and the Middle East, and those places are surely
not of the ...oreient, for lack of better term.
I for one am african american, and I know what's it's like
to have an unfavorable name. I will now refer to people of
this complexion as asians.
On a side note, I like when artist adds a race to the
portrait. Diversity is what makes the game intresting to
play.

She is truely amazing. Great job.

Hey, if any of you makers of female portraits know who
Gauge is (same line of work as Asia) I'd LUV to see one
based on her. She has THE most incredible eyes (YES, I do
mean EYES). They're a deep, bright, stormy sea green like
after a storm. You have to see a pic to know. Well anyway,
I'd definately start a new female character using a
portrait of her. I've already got Violet!

The main point here is that, at least in my opinion, no
offense or slurring was meant or intentionally implied. I
consider Oriental just a somewhat outdated term not a
slur, though I don't know how MOST Asians feel about this.
As pointed out below, there are unfortunately many
intentional ethnic slurs out there for Asians and just
about every other race. Heck, I'm half Frog and half Mic!
No offense to other French / Irish people out there.
Anyway, I do agree that they are somewhat
underrepresented in the film industry in proportion to
other races, especially if you don't count the imports. It
does seem like every major news network has at least one
female Asian news anchor though, so they're well
represented there. You don't see to many Asian males
though. Hmmm.
Well, in my experience most RPGers are some of the least
racist and most open minded folks there are. Yes there are
always exceptions to everything but for the most part
they're cool. I actually learned a lot about other
culture's history and mythology by doing research for
campaigns I made. That's my 2 cents on the matter.
PS: Nice portrait! I'm pretty sure it's Asia Carrera and
she's not limited to just softcore (or so I've been told).
Very pretty with a great personality to boot.

People that use Oriental to describe the race of a person,
is either not from this era, is not wise to the fact that
TIMES DO CHANGE, or is just a plain racist. Shot some old
timers still call an Asian person (male or female) China-
man. Calling an Asian, an oriental is equal to calling a
black or African-American person colored. It's just
an "ok" term of a past era, but as people get educated they
learn.
Maybe you can get away with calling Asians, Orientals in
the Midwest, but else where you will not be respected or
worse for being ignorant. Yes calling someone Oriental is
ignorant, and if you don't know that well you know who you
are.
Guess it doesn't matter at the end, you can call anyone
what you want but don't expect them to treat you kindly.

P.S As for the "oriental" issue- I don't know anyone who
considers that a slur, I am actually dumbfounded as to why
it came up. I suppose if someone had said Asian somebody
else would complain. Oh well.

Absolutely beautiful repaint. More more more!

Thought,
Well put, I agree.
When I was a child in Hawaii, we refered to people of far
eastern descent as "Oriental" and in no way used the term
as a slur. My oriental friends (most of my friends were
Japanese Americans, some were Chinese) called themselves
Oriental, not Asian.
Asians included the caucasians of India etc. etc. "Asian"
refered to someone who was either born or lived in Asia.
Hey, if you are of Far Eastern descent and want to be
called Asian, it's no skin of my back, I just might think
you are a little touched in the head if you weren't born
on that continent or lived there.
I may look European, but I am not, I am caucassian. As
for Orientals, "Oriental" seems a much more pleasant
descriptor than "Mongoloid." If the word Oriental
offended someone I was talking to, who is of oreintal
descent, I wouldn't use it to refer to him/her... but the
word just means "Originating in the east".
Keep up the work Barfak! People always need portraits.

Someone is on crack. I was about to address the "oriental"
issue when I saw someone else had already approached it.
Asian is the better term...and yes we use it all the time
in the U.S.A...except maybe in Klan country. But I'm sure
they have more choice names for us than "Oriental". And
just cuz you know what someone is saying doesn't mean it's
cool to say. If everyone started calling you "Cornbread
Boogaloo", and when I referred to "Cornbread" everyone knew
I was talking about you, doesn't mean that you like being
called that. And I don't know which Hollywood (I assume
this is the place you are referring to) you go to...but
there are ALOT of Asians there. Perhaps you are referring
to Hollywood,Florida or some such place.
Posted by Thought ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-03 10:12:00
Eh, Asian, or Oriental. We know what he means.
Actually I think 'Asian' is a more European term, we
use 'Oriental' more in N.A. But I won't stake my life on
that.
Andrew, are you sure she is SOFT core?
;-)
Ever notice how few Oriental (or Asian) women there are in
Hollyweird?
Posted by Simon Cowell ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-03 09:23:00
Asian people are Asians
Rugs, foods, lands, styles, art, etc are oriental =p
