a request for a drow....oddly enough, the first such request. she'd make a good villain. i tried to be a little more organic with the forms. SOURCES: base photo is a butchered model head shot (widening the space between her eyes seemed to make her look more evil). helm/armor made from: a skull (mainly the jaw bone), leather/cloth recycled from some of my other portraits, and texture overlays. hope you like.

Something not quite right about the hair and helmet. I am not an artist and can't tell you what it is, sadly, just that there is something that feels wrong. Perhaps the texture of the hair next to the texture of the helmet.
I also thought this was a man when I first saw it and only realized it was a woman based on the description.
Still, excellent work. You truly raise the bar for portraits.

gyrfalcon, yes, you end up drawing a lot of your stuff by hand, but those are the portraits that end up looking like Picasso.
Apricane, just admit relsh is ten times the artist you are and stop trying to find some point to quibble about.
relsh, I think this is an awesome drow, though I didn't think it was female when I first saw it. I think I'm going to use it as a male. Hope you don't take offense if I list it as such in my portrait pack. Keep up the amazing work.

Regardless, I'm not sure if a human would find her beautiful.. or a halfling or something ;) But she is cool nonetheless- why isnt there a race in Faerun that appears "incredibly cool" by all other races standards? Well.. ? Why? :p Never mind, im just crazy. No offense Relsh! She is cool, and skillfully done, but i just dont find her beautiful ;)

Al drow are beautiful by other races standards, but not all of them are hautingly so, you will hear of a few non-descript drow if you read R.A. Salvatores War of the Spider Queen. (Incase you don't know it oddly in't actually by Salvatore it was just his idea and he has let up and coming FR authors write it)
Beautiful textures! :) She could look more elven, but its not a big issue though. Also, she doesnt appear to be "hauntingly" beautiful like other drow. I think i read something about they were all beutiful creatures. Not sure though! ;) Im giving you 9 for this one :D
Oh, I absolutely love this! (Of course, I am a sucker for drow.) I agree about the eyes, but I think that's a personal preference (like some people like the floppy eared elves). Despite what some have said about other portraits, THIS is the BEST DROW EVER! :)
Very cool! I do love what you do with all the texturing and the different bits cobbled together. I keep trying to do photocollage in this style, and always end up frustrated because it never looks how I want it to, and then I just end up drawing it by hand anyway. ;-) I guess I'm just too much of an illustrator. Love the colors and the overall composition. I prefer D&D elves with a little more slant to the eyes, but it still captures the look wonderfully.
