This is actually a repaint of another work. The original art was created by strange1 and posted here at the vault a couple days ago. All I did was noodle around with her existing model. Thanks to strange1 for the source material. Used with permission by the artist. As for the character, Gwynden is, as the original art indicated, a fighter, though she could be used for any armored fighting type. I think this portrait turned out to have a more mature look, of a woman who has seen many battles but has only grown stronger with her wisdom. Oddly--and this was totally unintentional--she ended up looking a little like the actress Claudia Black.
Update: Changed the large picture to show also what the small pictures look like, as the cropping is different.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 10 that made this score of 7.00 then rounded to 7.

It is wonderful to see a female with a beauty of her own; something different than what one would first think. Her features match her projected independence. I do not know what the original looked like, but the original artist did a great job in proportion and realism (I myself have that 'hawk nose' ;).
Fantastic.

I just so love seeing little children get so uptight about a little criticism. It amuses me to no end. The artist posts his/her work and recieves good and bad comments as everyone's opinion is going to be different and the fun starts there. One person is overly critical and every little whiner who ever got pushed in preschool has got to jump his/her nuts about it. Lots of people get offended and these comment posts are filled with personal attacks. Can we please just make our comments and move on?????
By the way...I like this portrait.

Thanks for getting rid of those yellow shining eyes that clashed so badly in the original picture. This one looks better on the whole.

Gwindinel
Do you ever say anything good about anything? I hate to break it to you but a lot of people here aren't expert portrait makers. If you ain't got nothing good to say that keep your mouth shut. If ya don't like a portrait don't download it, ya don't gotta put everyone down.
grfalconthegray i like ye portraits keep up the good work.

Easy, easy! Ian, thank you for the comments, and G'Windinel, I saw your comment. :-) Though I do think you underestimate the power that your words can have. Not everyone who has potential or talent is necessarily convinced that they have it. And there are plenty of people who are quite convinced that they have potential and talent when they do not.
But I think this is enough sparring. Have you downloaded the picture to take a look at it in game? Although the large image is not cropped as I would prefer, I changed the cropping on the smaller ones to bring the focus in better on the face. I think it works quite well. Please let me know how you think it turned out as a portrait for the game, which is what I was shooting for (as opposed to a stand-alone work of art, which is something else again.)

I did say "fair comment!"
You state the obvious Ian. If these people have the potential to do something great I hardly think that my asinine (that's A-S-I-N-I-N-E) comments are likely to dent their conviction in their own abilities. If it does, then I guess that you are wrong about their potential.

I'm not an art critic, an artist, or a teacher, but I can say that gyrfalconthegray is completely correct in saying that mistakes aren't a bad thing if you're learning. One of the reasons people will suddenly quit everything they are doing when they have the potential to do something great is the assnine comments that people give that hurt really deep.
As a side, excellent portrait. I agree the source wasn't near the quality of the new one, but the only way to get better is practice and examples of how to make it better, and I'm sure that with more experience you'll do great.

Yep. Fair comment. I however am not a teacher and i offer only my opinion. Lets call it a taste of the real world shell we? Who am i anyway, right?

I like this, you've added life and character to my picture (wich had very little of eith of those qualities). I'm not sure 'anything' would improve the original, but this certainly did. Thanks.

G'Windinel--
I can accept that you don't see any merit in some of the artwork people have posted. But I would ask that you show them as much respect as you would like to have shown to you. I am a teacher. I am around students all the time, students who constantly do things wrong and make mistakes because they are learning. But the wonderful thing about students is that they realize that they don't know everything and are willing to learn and grow. All the art posted here may not be perfect (in fact, I would say none of it is, mine included), but much of it represents an attempt to learn and grow on the part of the artist. That should be respected and encouraged, not derided and called worthless. Just something to keep in mind as you comment.

Lets face it, anything would improve the source.
