I tried something different. Using another portrait (zesstra) and combined it with the body of the Valsharess, and added another screenshot as background. Then painted and relighted the whole thing. 06-02-2004 I made the portrait a little lighter, and changed the name, it's Dhaunae not Dhanae, typing error.
Well I experimented a little with this one, and I was just learning to make proper portraits at the time, so ... it's personally not one of my favourites either to be honest. ;)

Well, she's not the gypsy warrior which still is MY FAVORITE. :) I still enjoy this one regardless.

Black Feather: thank you for the nice comments. I agree with you about the idea that comes in mind. I have an image of a portrait I want to create; if it doesn't suit someone else, that's alright too. I also think that the rules on how a race should looks should not be followed so strict. NWN is not so strict either with these rules, when it comes to little things as whether an elf should have hair or not, to name an example.

The drow I've created actually consider black skin a sign of nobility and true beauty. Some drow become throwbacks to when they lived on the surface and have dark browns and reds to when they once were wild thousands of years ago.
It's up to the creator what they see in their head. It's up to the rest of us to get creative with the result. What may not fit for one person is going to fit for someone else.
I personally have downloaded a few of her portraits already. I have no idea how to do what she does--I work in colored pencil and pen. This seems very difficult for me--and I'm thinking of having her modify pictures of me to make char portraits. I like her work.

You know I dont believe you people, what are you Siskel & Ebert? These people work very hard perfecting some of these portraits in order to SHARE THEM WITH YOU AT NO CHARGE!!!!! Now I am an impartial observer as I have no custom portraits or anything, I just came here to see how to use them in NWN. Intead I have to read your BS about how it isnt good enough for you & Drow have obsidian skin. Well maybe she's a surface dwelling Drow, the sun makes everyone darker with consistant exposure...even a Drow fool. So quit being a critic, get of your fat --- and make your own portrait (and get out of here with that pseudo-intellectual BS). I can't believe I had to read that +blocked+.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 9 that made this score of 7.89 then rounded to 8.

According to the book 'The Complete Guide to Drow', all drow are NOT a universal obsidian color and this is a huge mistake made by people...but in truth, a Drow's skin tone changes color as she/he progresses in age from the 'universal obsidian' color of a youngster to a more ashen sheen color which resembles a dark gray of an older Drow.
I have a question: it's probably quite easy but I can't seem to integrate my own custom portraits into the toolset. I've spent hours fiddling with 2da files and I've decided I have no clue how to do it. Could someone please help me, because I want to use them in my modules.

Well... I like it. Its good that you've tried to combine it with a character body, so it looks like your little guy/girl running around would.
The only problem with making a drow is that people always seam to take skin colour very personally. Who cares what a drow elf's skin tone is... the really dont exist you know.
Thanks for the input. Somehow the picture turned out darker on the site than in Photoshop, because it obviously is too dark. I will fix it as soon as possible.

first off the night elves in WC3 where NOT drow. secondly drow are universily described as having obsidion skin.
your dorw is too black to see her face. a litte light will be better. so i vote 7 . after all a drow is never too black. as you can see in the game warcraft 3 and BG 2.the skin of drow move form dark blue to light black never dark black. and the hair as u well know is white.i hope u fix this portrait.
This portrait is not bad, and could actually be quite good, the only problem is, its very difficult to see your Matron Mother. Perhaps adding some lighting and/or lighten the background? Other then that it seems to be a good portrait.
