this was a 'quick' one between requests. a halfling rogue-more of the drifter type. i tried to focus more on fluid forms, and lighting, than the usual 'bells and whistles'. got a little lazy and recycled the color scheme from Isabelle-but it works. SOURCES: base head is Kazou from the movie Battle Royale. leather texture from Mcfarlane toys Metal Gear series. hope this works for you halfling/rogue players out there. feedback and critques appreciated.

This looks like a painting to me--almost impressionistic with the use of the effects that the other guy complained about.
Not everyone is doing photorealism. Sorry. My own style with colored pencil and ink isn't photorealism. That is why I look at this picture here and I think it's art. In a way this halfling is rather handsome. he looks like he is sneaking.

I had to come back and vote on this now that there's a new voting system here. I love this portrait! I've used it so much :)
And I see what you mean relsh about the mood. I always tend to look more at the overall "mood and atmosphere" of a pic rather than weather it's "anatomically correct" or not. This portrait is perfect as it is in my eyes. You managed very well to portray a halfling rogue. Well done.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 30 that made this score of 8.26 then rounded to 8.

pointing fingers is quite alright, though i think your gripe is a stylistic one, as you might be misreading the intentions of the portrait. its not meant to be a realistic picture of someone standing in the rain. the point was to establish the feeling of a character through mood, form, and and atmosphere. the "metallic effects" are just that-effects, more specifically "gestures" used to establish a "feeling" or mood. these gestures (and the mood they create) are open to interpretaion, as some see it as "rain",others see it more abstractly.

I hate to point fingers, but I think there are some problems with this portrait-
To me, the rain doesnt look realistic. It looks like the whole portrait is a picture with metallic effects on.. ;) His body looks twisted; it almost looks as if he is a little.. eh... heavy... on the middle. Also, his face seems to have some kind of motion blur or something...
You have some better portraits out here. But your texturizing is good.
Cheers!

[*quote: Relsh* Glad you guys like it. the "rain" texture is a piece of sheet metal i steelwooled to death. i tend to use it alot. and as far as the hair goes, its a layering thing. i overlay my backround over top of it. then i duplicate the hair and pull pieces "above" the overlay. that way it has some depth. the lack of a neck is a problem though, i forgot to highlight it like the side of the face-my bad.
Thanks for the feedback-its always useful. ]
Thanks for explaining! I've been experimented a little with textures and brushes lately, but I'm not very good at it, lol. It's very fun though :)
The more I look at this portrait, the more I love it. It has a very "grunge" feel to it. Again; great work!
