As usual it's a photo that I painted over, -I used quite alot of layers here though and added texture of autumn leaves in the background and on his collar. The base is a model (Norwegian I think) named Henrik who I though had a really cool appearance. I always try to look for people with personality as they make so much better character portraits, but that's easier said than done. :( I really liked the pic of Henrik though. I hope it will make a good in-game portrait too.

I really really love this picture, and I think you picked a marvelous model.
to me, he seems like a uniquely handsome gnomish wizard who smells of rich leathers and sandalwood ;D (possibly extravagant perfumes too)
I think I'm going to use him for my D&D character if you don't mind, because I think he's fabulous.
in case you're curious, his name will be "Wigwik Bronncoetii Sashay" I think it's fitting somehow ^^
I also made a wizard with this portrait in nwn -puts finger to chin- I named him Sasha something (it was a Russian name, because he has a Russian vibe... might be the fur)

Yes, I intended for the greenish cast. I wanted him to look a little on the "bad side" when I saw his expression :p So I experimented for a while to find what I thought (or hoped rather, lol) was the perfect color scheme. I wanted his skin to look kindof metal as a symbol of his inhuman side. The orange could very well be the fires of Hell. For some reason I've always thought of green as a "whitchy" colour. Maybe because it's the color of venom?

Nice job! Did you intend the slightly greenish cast to his skin? It makes him look even more like he's dabbled in things best not dabbled in. Very cool.
For anyone who is interested, here is a neat trick for coloring B&W: set your painting layer to "Color". Then whatever color you paint keeps the values in tbe B&W while changing the hue and saturation to the color you've selected. You can lay in the first color blocks this way, then flatten the whole thing and go in with touchup brushes later. This works great for coloring B&W photos, graphite drawings or ink washes.

But I love the colouring you added to the BW picture. I usually see it when people have coloured a black and white but not this time. Nicely done with the layers.
No, what I found appealing was the way he looks at you, in that direct way. He has a presence if you know what I mean. That is what I liked most about this photo. The problem with many models is that they look so blank and polished, like they have no personality, -they're just pretty faces. That's why they often make bad characters imo. I don't think he looks femenine at all, more exotic, which is why I thought he'd make a good wiz :)
Oh and this was originally a black and white photo, the only thing I added was the amulet, so the hairdo and clothing is like this in the original photo. I did a thorough paintover with many layers as mentioned, especially on the face, and added textures and a brush or two but I didn't change anything :) "Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak"
