My next attempt...this time I'm a little more satisfied with the result, though I think there's still much room for improvement. Base image is a nameless model, i repainted it, added jewelry, background is some stock photo from deviant-art (http://freaks-stock.deviantart.com/).
An answer for the first post. It was mentioned in the descrioption that a model was used for the base. So it sounds like the person wasn't created, just edited.

Oh, I forgot..does anyone have some good sites with stock photos of medieval clothes and/or armour? I couldn't find many pictures that were useful, so this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your comments, I agree completely with the problems concerning the dress. When making this portrait, I didn't feel confident enough with the photoshop tools to add a whole new dress and the like. But I will certainly try it with my next portrait! And if I find the time, I'll go back and change Laura's dress, too. Thanks again for your comments and constructive criticism, they mean a lot to me and I honestly didn't think that my portraits would be well recieved at all. But now I'm all the more motivated to improve myself and create more portraits.

Nice work, not fantasy enough for my liking

I would have given it a 10 if she'd be wearing something that felt more fantasy. The prom dress doesn't work well in the fantasy universe, but everything else is superb!

I'd say you about have this portrait making business down to an art (no pun intended)! Very well done indeed! The shadowing does need to be fixed on the tiera in the center loop, but other than that she looks perfect. Medieval clothes would be nice though. 20th century dresses just don't make the cut for DD. Fortunately it doesn't show in the medium portrait."Me Go Beer!" - Mr. Dave _________________________ Me go beer!
