Um...Yeah. There is some good shading on this (the throat, for example) but often the shading is misplaced or non-existent. The shading all around the mouth looks particularly bizarre, as does the highlight under the nose. There should be more shadow around the eyes, under the eyebrows, under the chin, under the nose and on the edges of the arms to name but a few. This incoherentness makes the portrait look very flat, and not at all "lifelike." He has no ears?! The angles of his jaw are too severe and the eyes are particularly weird (no eyelashes, eyebrows, eyelids etc). The tattoos (I assume?) look incredably out of place and, dispite the hightlights, look very flat (they don't curve with his body). The colour of his skin is also baffling (brown skin in the shadow, but an unhealthy,pastey greyish colour elsewhere.)
But! having said that, It's nice to see your work on the vault, and I for one would enjoy to see you learn from this and submit more work in the future. - I tried to change, but I changed my mind -

Well, he is supposed to be a monk and monks do have a certain presence about them. I like the radiance he gives off, seems rather mystical to me. Perhaps he could use a little softening up though...
