I'm just back from my holiday in Greece and got inspired to do a picture of Athena. Usual photo-collage, added effects and backgrounds. Base model: Carmen Kass, body put together from body parts and armour pieces.

I love greek mythology and this as Athena's 'war' aspect is great! After all, she might also be goddess of wisdom and crafts, but if preparing to combat Ares' machinations, she'd probably not want to take her loom! That said, a spear would be great! The detail on the armour is STUNNING! Worthy of Hephaestus himself!

She's gorgeous. I love the hair most of all though.

I use various sources for armour and clothing. General good sources are Xena pictures, LOTR pictures and just medieval armour in museums. Now, I try to make it less obvious like the source so I cut the pictures up and what really helps to fit armour to the character is the liquify tool in Photoshop 6.0.
Thanks ;)
An amazing work again! I just love how you blend all the different pieces together and make them work like one! But just where do you get all these amazing modells of armour and clothing??? Anyways, you're as always on the top!I'm not bad... I'm just a Succubus...

Okay okay, I admit I was perhaps being a little lazy but this is how in my opinion Athena looks. Like she just flew out of her fathers skull :)
Zaknafein: yes, the Greeks are the mostly friendly people I know, and the food ofcourse is superb. ;) I like the picture as it is now, but in future I will reread upon my Greek mythology.

Beautiful work!!! my only complaint is that the helmet looks a little dull and hazed out.

Yes I agree with Zaknafein. If Athena was the goddess of strategic war, wisdom, arts and crafts, it certainly doesn't show here. Where are her attributes: the aegis (goat-shield) and her lance? Can't have a goddess without attributes for god's sake! ;)
Hope you enjoyed Greek Hospitality :)
On the portrait, Athena was the goddess of Wisdom. I don't get that feeling from the portrait. This is an opinion, don't take it as a flame, but being greek an' all, I have a different picture of Athena in my mind.

Cool to see more of your nice Work on the vault. It seems that the helmet and the legs dont exactly fit to the character but still great work...
