This is a lovely portrait. The background and all parts of the foreground seem to merge together quite smoothly, though in places it could be less blurry and a bit sharper. I am going to user her for a young woman who has somehow lost all idea of her past, but manages to be happy even so.

It is indeed a veil. The only hair you see is between the pearls of the veil and the headband.

Interesting, but not my favourite, the clothing (veil/shawl part) doesn't look quite right.
